Dr Tarr’s modern office, equipment, and techniques are leveraged expertly by his exceptional staff. Dr Tarr himself is an incredible doctor. The amazing combination of his knowledge, professionalism, & care is beyond anything I have ever experienced. I have already referred everyone I know to his office. I cannot recommend him enough.

I moved here from the Midwest and was referred to Dr. Tarr. He is extremely patient, methodical, and in tune with each individual. I would highly refer him as a top notch dentist to anyone in need of dental care.
I also had an exceptional experience with the work by his dental hygenist, Laura. She was very capable and skilled, offering tips to help in my home dental care. Outstanding personality as well.

I regrettably ignored my dental health for a few years, between moves across country, rapidly changing dental insurance, and just a lack of understanding of just how important regular visits are.
As a result (mixed with some bad genes), I found on my first visit that i had periodontal disease. I am glad that I was (and am) in such good hands. The hygienist (Janna) was incredibly thorough in my deep cleanings. On top of a focus and clear ethic of doing the best possible job, she explained (without making me feel more of an idiot for my lapses) the possible outcomes of my periodontal disease, the reasons behind what she was doing, and how/​why my home-​care would impact my gum health.
In the past 4 visits the combination of straight forward, no nonsense, gentle and expert care (from both Janna and Dr. Tarr) really has improved both my current health and confidence in my future oral health. I expect to be a patient here for a long time.

Dr. Tarr is the best, hands down. He is so incredibly patient and personable and has the best bed-​side manner. That he has an amazingly soothing voice does not hurt. I recently changed dental insurance and found to my amazement he’s not on the list. I’m scrambling now to see if there’s any way to resolve. He’s that good.

Dr. Tarr is the best! I have been a happy patient at Madrona Family Dental for 2 years now, but had an experience that makes me appreciate him even more. I recently went to another dentist for a second opinion and after she agreed with his opinion, I decided to get the work done there (they were also fantastic!). Long story short, she couldn’t get my tooth numb after 5 rounds of shots, so she graciously sent me back to Dr. Tarr in hopes that he had better luck. Well, it turns out he did! Don’t know what kind of magic he worked, but he was successful in numbing my stubborn tooth and finishing the procedure. He has always been gentle, reassuring, and funny; but now I appreciate him more than ever. Thank you, Dr. Tarr!

I went to Dr. Tarr’s office after a bad experience with my previous dentist. The whole staff was delightful. The front desk people were pleasant, my hygenist was thorough and explained what she was doing in great detail (which I liked), and threw in anecdotes about travel for good measure. Dr. Tarr was friendly, thorough, and personable. I am so happy that I transferred my care to this team. I highly recommend them!

Hailey is a stellar dental hygienist. She is thorough and efficient. No one likes spending their day at the dentist and she gets me in and out the door under an hour. I appreciate her professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness.

I really liked Dr Tarr and the dental tech that did my cleaning. I wasnt super impressed with Dr Tarrs assistant though but it is a minor complaint. My wife if going there now as well.

As I lay back in the chair today for my cleaning and exam, I had the realization that I was no longer afraid to go to the dentist, as I was when I was a child. Instead, a checkup at Dr. Tarr’s office feels like a day at the spa. Great music, friendly staff, beautiful pastel colors, all in the middle of a cute complex in Madrona. Even though there are dentists closer to me, I don’t see myself switching from Madrona Family Dentist any time soon.

I have been in search of a dentist I trust for years. My reluctances comes from having several dentist and oral surgeons in my family, it’s hard to leave excellent dental care that is free! I have been looking for a dentist that i can trust for several years. I finally have found one!
Dr. Tarr and his staff are very professional. They take their time explaining services and during your cleaning. I am so glad I found them!

Dr Tarr and his assistants are very professional, friendly and good at what they do. They are very concerned about your comfort level and that you are informed at what they are going to do. They tell you what your cost will be after insurance and there are no surprises on your bill. Parking is plentiful, you just may have to walk a block.
They’ll even pull up a station on Pandora for you as your getting your work done.

Dr. Tarr and his staff are nothing short of amazing. they are all friendly and competent and their work is clean and painless. After going here a few times I have zero anxiety about dentist trips. I’ve recommended them to many of my friends and they’ve all been satisfied

Dr. Tarr and his entire staff was GREAT! EVERY person acknowledged me and said hello while I was there, even if they had nothing to do with my care. They all seemed to work together well as a team. My hygienist, Jana, was very personable and professional and made sure I was informed and comfortable throughout my time there. Dr. Tarr was equally as personable and professional, not hurried, but still on time!
I feel very fortunate that I found this dental office!

I recently broke a tooth, and am still in the process of getting it all repaired. I have a serious phobia of dentists, and a dear friend referred me to Dr. Tarr. As it turns out, another close friend also takes his entire family to Dr. Tarr! I had to write a review for all of the other dental patients like myself who have stayed away far too long because of our fear of all things dental. They always explain costs beforehand (no surprises), and work with you to make sure that you are a partner in the process.
You will absolutely not find a better dentist in Seattle. I have had nothing but the best experiences with their office for the past 6 weeks. If you need some TLC or sedation, look no further! Everything from the welcome call from Dr. Tarr personally on the day before your first appointment, to the cheerful, compassionate front office staff, and the dental hygienists, I could not ask for a better experience.
I have finally conquered my fear of dentists and will never go anywhere else!

I’ve been going here for so long I forgot how many years now. The staff and Dr. Tarr and really friendly and kind. He uses modern technology and tries to be as environmentally friendly as possible. He even gives you Tom’s toothpaste in your «goodie» paper bag to take home.

After getting a temporary crown put in, I got a call from Dr. Tarr (on the weekend!) asking me how I was doing and if I had any questions. That’s service.
Oh, and they explain everything they’re doing and they’re also very upfront about costs.

So happy I found this place. They’re five blocks from me, and as the other reviewer mentioned, they’re right by Cupcake Royale cupcakes via Café Verite.
Dr. Tarr is very nice. He called before my first appointment to say ‘hello’ and see if there were any concerns I wanted to discuss ahead of time. The whole team there seems very customer-​oriented. Honestly, I was a bit surprised how VERY customer oriented they were. They ask how much detail you like about procedures (big picture or very specific about all procedures) so that they can tailor to your preferences.
They’re also very updated technology which I appreciate. The xrays are immediately digitized and can be emailed to any future dentists (or to yourself if you’re so inclined :)). They also take photos of your teeth with this little wand thing so that they can keep track of your teeth’s appearance over time (color, micro-​cracks, gum recession, etc).
With a full set of xrays for a new patient, they also offer free whitening teeth mold trays and supplies.
They also call you a month in advance before your scheduled appointment, in case you need to change it. As a graduate student with a schedule that changes every quarter, I really really appreciate this consideration.

I can’t believe there aren’t any reviews yet! I came to Dr. Tarr right after his business opened, and straight from a long year or two of being unemployed (and uninsured) and travelling around on multiple continents acting like a bum. So my teeth were in pretty bad shape, even for someone who only had two cavities ever. This guy was the best! He managed to pull out a part of a molar I had broken off, and get me all suited up with a dental implant on top of making my teeth all clean and pretty.
He’s a really nice guy too, and recognizes me when he sees me out and about and not in his dentist chair – which is saying something. He also explains everything he is going to do before-​hand in detail, and talks you through it as he does it. He actually provides you with the information you need to make your own dental decisions which is refreshing. Call me a nerd, but I like to know the where what and why about my health.
And – there is a cupcake shop around the corner!
