I love this place. The quiche is to die for. When you can please get one and you will thank me. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the confusion in sitting arrangement. I thought I can have a table to sit down by ordering from the breakfast menu. However, you have to order from the brunch menu if you want a full proper sitting down to eat experience. I ordered a bunch of stuff(way worth than any dish in the brunch menu) but couldn’t enjoy them at the premise.

Great atmosphere and amazing brunch! It was very fresh and flavorful. The baked pastries are great as well and they have yummy gluten free options.

Came in on a weekday to pick up some breakfast to go and was not disappointed. We hoped to try the salmon bialy however they only have that on the weekend brunch menu so opted for other breakfast sandwiches — bialy egg sandwich and brioche egg sandwich. Both were absolutely delicious! Warm flavorful bread with a nice mix of ingredients layered in the middle. Their quiche however, did not compare to their sandwiches, nothing special. Ready to go back to try more items behind the counter.

Love their pastries and fresh bread!!! Their pastries seem to stay fresh and I feel like there’s always something to new to try out since they have a wide range of food and desserts to chose from. Since, there’s so many things that you could chose from it can get a bit overwhelming trying to look at the pastries then their menu then back to the pastries. This isn’t a problem for when it’s not busy, but I wish there was a better way to easily showcase all the items they had to offer

This café is seriously lovely. I stopped in for breakfast and got their oatmeal as well as a mini baguette with butter and jam. The oatmeal could’ve used just a bit more flavor in my opinion — maybe a bit more compote or brown sugar. The texture and mixture of the different grains in it was wonderful. It’s served with a bit of steamed milk if you want to add a bit of liquid. The baguette was toasted and came with a nice strawberry jam. Often times I find that baguettes can be a bit too crisp, to the point where it hurts to eat, but this was perfect! Just the right amount of crispy outside with a light center. All of their bread is homemade, and man they do it right. I’d love to come back here and try more of their baked goods. They all looked delicious!

Because the viaduct closed and I got to work early I thought, «Now what am I going to do for an hour?» Ah ha! Macrina’s. So I headed uptown and smelled sweet dough in the air while I walked around the 1st Ave corner. There was a family of tourists in front of me. They didn’t know what to order. The husband looked at me. He knew I was a grab and go customer so he hurried his wife up. I had the ham and cheese brioche and cinnamon roll. Yum! Mornings are the best!

This bakery was truly an incredible experience. Besides the pleasant staff, and the unlimited water(not used to that in the east), let’s talk about my simple breakfast. I had a Dill Scone with Cream Cheese, and it was likely the best breakfast baked good I have experience. The flaky/buttery texture, combined with a unique flavor in the dill and cheese on top, took this over the edge. I could have eaten it and enjoyed it without the cream cheese, that’s how amazing it was. I love simple, and this was simple, and delicious. Take the time to visit if you are in town!

This review is for the café. Service was great and food is good. I had a typical breakfast and my husband has the waffle. That’s all I can say about this place. Nice quaint spot if u are in the area. Nothing to write home about but will not leave u disappointed either if u wanted a decent bite.

Chocolate chip cookie– chewy in the mìddle, crispy exterior. Not too thick and not too thin. Good amount of chocolate to cookie ratio. Tastes freshly baked. Overall good cookie.

I stopped by Macrina this past Saturday to pick up two cakes that my friend ordered for her husband’s 30th birthday. She was busy with party planning and entertaining her in-laws, so I wanted to do her a solid and grab the cakes before heading over to the party. I figured this would be an easy job except… Macrina lost the order. They had no record of her order at all, at any store. The girl at the counter with the heavy eyeliner/black hair was really unapologetic, bordering on rude, as I asked her what we could do to make sure that my friend had cake for her party, which was starting in less than two hours at this point. She kept talking to the manager right in front of me, asking, «Should I give her a discount?» while he mumbled back«Nowecan’tfindherordernodiscount.» C’mon, dude. I WASSTANDINGRIGHTTHERE. Why not, I don’t know, just talk to me??? They were able to give me one of the cakes my friend had ordered from that store(and, for the record, it was at a discount) and then found the two other cakes at their Queen Anne location. The employees at Queen Anne were one hundred times nicer than the ones in Belltown, said they were sorry for the mixup and offered me some tea while I waited for them to write on the cakes. One of their employees even helped me carry the cakes out to the car. I understand that mistakes happen, but the attitude and accusatory tone(«Are you sure you didn’t order from another location? Are you sure you ordered at all?») of the store manager was really uncalled for. How would my friend know to tell me to pick the order up after 2pm if she never ordered? Ridiculous.

Came here on the recommendation that they had good coffee and great baked goods. I was jones-ing for a cookie and I thought I’d give them a try. There’s certainly a plethora of options here and I settled on the espresso chocolate chip. It was soft, chewy, with a rich chocolate flavor and a nuttiness from the espresso. Really enjoyed it, they brew a pretty solid cappuccino as well. All in all it was the perfect afternoon pick me up for a little sugar and caffeine kick.

I come here ALLTHETIME. I love, love and love it here. Their baked goodies are sooo good. Their coffee is comforting. But I mainly come here for their petit sandwiches, so tasty! And affordable too. Good place to come for lunch. I love it here so much. And it’s cute inside(small, but cute). Nice to have 1 on 1s. Small tables(cute tables). And they play good music!

Pretty great bakery! They have all kinds of pastries from scones, to muffins and behind. Combine that with Café Umbria coffee, and you’ve got a sweet bakery for the walkable neighborhood of Belltown. In particular, I recommend the blueberry scones and the pumpkin muffins. While the pastries are quite good, their barista drinks like lattes, cappuccinos and the like aren’t as good as their competitors. One time I received a vanilla latte that had so much flavoring it was hard to drink! Also, make sure to ask for a coffee card if you order coffee card. 10 drinks and your next one if free!

We stopped in for a quick mid-afternoon snack. I found their famous brioche to be dry. Fairly empty around 4pm on a rainy Saturday on President’s Day weekend. COST: $ 8 including tax/tip for a cappuccino and a brioche bun. * Brioche cocoa puff — 3 stars I thought this was stale, my bf liked it better. The chocolate filling could’ve been more runny — it was hard like nutella out of a jar.

I usually get my pastry, coffee, pay my bill then leave. BUTTHSTIME, I sat down for lunch with my love. Small menu with all the basics. BIG on taste. I love this kind of food. I just LOVED my meal here. I ordered the petit corned beef pastrami sandwich with coleslaw, aioli, and a side salad. I was very impressed with the freshness, and wholesomeness of the food. The greens were fresh, crunchy and the dressing was mild and perfect. I love balance in a meal. And I definitely will be back! Wish they served dinner!

There are places, like Macrina, that writing a review just wouldn’t do it justice. I will give it a shot, mostly just to show them some love. This is hands down one of my favorite places for so many different reasons. The very first time I went was to grab some bread, surprise surprise, it was super delicious. I then upgraded to trying some of their pastries. From muffins, to scones, to flaky goodness, they always hit the spot. Next, was something that became near and dear to my heart: brunch. My husband and I have enjoyed brunch here so many times. It has become such a part of our routine that every Saturday morning I wake up early to check their menu and decide if getting out of bed so early is worth it. More times that not, it is. I have never had a negative experience at Macrina, although it gets quite busy at times. It is great to have such a wonderful place like this in the neighborhood.

I am not usually a cake eater. I don’t like cakes or sweets. Very rarely do I enjoy or proactively crave to eat a slice of cake. Not here though! Our friend bought us this delicious whisper cake that was so decadently yummy. The lemon filling was tasted like Ellenos Greek yogurt and they had fresh raspberries jammed in another layer. The cake portion was light and fluffy and the outer layer was dense with the taste of cream cheese and white chocolate. Every bite was so rich and delicious. I knew that I would have to work out extra for eating cake but it was so worthwhile. I don’t mind the extra calories because this cake was GOOD.

Macrina Bakery & Café was a detour during my Weekend in Seattle. A choice between going up the Space Needle or drinking Macchiato alone at Macrina. Of course I opt for my speciality: having some chill time with a cup of espresso drink. The interior is divey but cozy. The baked goods just looked so good! I just wish I did not have to go for lunch in less than 15 minute! Macchiato well made: strong and great to wake me up after waiting in the area for more than 30 minute for my friends to finish their touristy thing. Highly recommended café in the area!

We were walking a ways to check out a place recommended a ways away for breakfast. My boyfriend and I were both starving so we decided to take advantage of all the bakeries Seattle had to offer! Near the window they have the day old pastries available at a discount. Since we were on our way to breakfast we decided to get a morning bun and split it as we kept walking. Well I wish we would have gotten five other things to nibble on later because it was delicious!!! The only reason this place doesn’t get five stars is because it is very tiny inside and there is no time to look and see what’s available.

I’ve been going to Macrina’s for years and have always enjoyed there breads and pastries. Today I stopped in for a bite of breakfast. So glad I did everything looked so great was difficult to decide on what to have first. The quiches looked sinful as well as all the breakfast sandwiches. I order the ham and cheese brioche, yogurt parfait with granola and a big cup of coffee. Everything came out perfect. The brioche was absolutely flawless! When bread just melts in your mouth you know your doing something right. As a side note I noticed that the y offer day old bread for 50% off. That a cool program! The ambiance of the place is very hip and cool with the metal beam, concert and rustic wood. Many places are doing this but they pull it off extremely well. The staff is professional and outgoing. That’s a nice attribute to have fist thing in the morning.
