Madeleines European Cakes

We tried lots of wedding cake before finding Wendi at Madeleine’s European Cakes. Her cake samples were moist and delicious, with great flavor combinations. We showed her a picture of the kind of cake we wanted and she was able to do it, so we hired her. On the day of, the cake arrived on time, and was just as good as we remembered it during our cake tasting. Wendi was very responsive to our questions, and was a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend her.

As a pastry chef by trade, I knew that choosing a wedding cake would be my most daunting task. I felt I would be critiqued the hardest on this element, and it was the most important to me.
Throughout the process, my husband rolled his eyes… everything he thought was great, I had an issue with. Cake was great, but buttercream was too sweet, buttercream was perfect but the cake was dry, and the list just went on.
After probably hundreds of Google searches, asking for recommendations and reading countless reviews, I stumbled across Wendi of Madeleine’s European Cakes.
Sitting down with Wendi was the beginning of calm for me. For our consultation, I had told her the type of flavors that we were looking for. She had it as one of the samples, as well as several variations near those flavors and a couple of her best sellers. Everything was amazing. The cake was moist, the crumb was perfect, and the buttercream was like perfection. I was in heaven. We were able to combine a couple fillings and pick out the exact flavors we wanted beyond what was listed on her already extensive menu of options.
Wendi took the time to work with me to develop a design that I loved. It took several emails back and forth and a second sit down, but she never made me feel like I was imposing.
Wendi has a true passion for her craft, and it shows in every part of the cake. Her pipe work was incredible. The cake tasted as though it was baked that morning. The buttercream was perfect. Our flavors came together and it was exactly what we wanted. People raved about the cake all night.
While her pricing is competitive, it definitely did not break the bank. In fact, we received a discount for choosing a single flavor instead of several so that was a nice incentive. There is a charge for delivery outside of the Seattle area, however it was minimal, and Wendi set up the cake table and placed the topper.
While I don’t plan on needing another wedding cake, I will absolutely keep Wendi in mind for any birthdays or events in the future!

I worked with Wendi to do our wedding cake. At the tasting, they were all so delicious, we got two flavors. The white cake with hazelnut and chocolate filling, and another white cake with passion fruit and white chocolate filling. They were delicate, light, moist, and most importantly, not overwhelmingly sweet. They were also beautifully decorated. She never made us feel bad about having a smaller budget, and getting only a small display cake with the rest as sheet cake. I had multiple guests also tell me how delicious the cake was. Highly recommended!

Madeleine’s makes the yummiest cakes ever! Many of the guests of our wedding went back for seconds! We had carrot cake with cream cheese filling and Vanilla Sponge cake with Lemon Cream and Raspberry Cream filling, all topped with Buttercream frosting! I have never tasted a better cake!
