Kay has done my hair for years. I call her my scientist. Always so thoughtful and knowledgeable. She has turned my black hair into platinum blonde before and guess what? Nooooo damage. She’s an educated women and her passion for hair is beyond her years. She does Photoshoots for big name magazines. Travels for fashion week. Amazing woman and her experience in hair? Priceless! Super highly recommended. No words can truly describe her talent and my appreciation for her and her business.

Kay is awesome! Truly! I’ll start off by saying I’m a white girl who’s had weave for the past 10+ years because it’s really the only type of extension that works for me. I was devastated when my current stylist left the business. I asked around and a high profile stylist in Bellevue recommended Kay, saying she was«the best in the business» for weave. She was right!!! Wow! She takes so much care to be sure she’s got high quality hair ordered, placement of tracks are correct, and everything is blended perfectly. And she does it in record time!!! My hair has honestly never looked so great!!!

Please read this updated review. I have been going to Madison Ave Salon for almost a year now — I think Kay is wonderful and her work is super high quality. I am an A. American client, but I while getting my hair done, I also have seen her work on Caucasian clients and doing what seems to be pretty nice work. What I love — Kay deeply cares about both the quality of your hairstyle and the impact on your pocketbook. I came in with tracks that were put in by another stylist and needed to be redone. Kay worked with me to adjust the other work and not start over from scratch. This saved me a significant amount of money! When I did transition back to just a relaxer and color when was thoughtful in how to manage the transition process and did a excellent job with the on-going maintenance of hair. What you need to look past. I am used to sitting in a shop full of women getting their hair done and the associated bells and whistles. Kay is pretty much a one woman shop and a case study for smart small business ownership. When you are there you get all of her attention and the shop is not full of people — this is great. She is a small business owner so she spends her $$ on providing reasonable prices versus spending it on bright shiny objects in he shop.(In other words, it’s not fancy, but it is clean, bright and a well cared for business,) In short, the other reviews are dated and don’t capture the magic of this wonderful salon.

i real love this salon, the ambiance is nice and calm, located in a nice quant spot on 27th and madison, the owner is very welcoming and know what she’s doing, the others stylist that work there are so friendly and nice and real want you to feel comfortable and let you shit the how you would like you hair to be done .i found this place on google and the ratings were great so i decided to calling, the owner answered and she was so profesional, unlike several others salons that i called. i was very satisfied when i saw my hair style it was exactly what i want ed it to look like. i had a stacked bob, with some added extensions for fullness, the cut was nice and clean, overall my experience here was great. does need a little cleaning up and a bigger sign outside but others thank that this is really a hidden treasure that was worth finding

This salon is my best kept secret. I love the ladies that work there. I feel like I have had a little vacation whenever I go there. They make me laugh they know and ask about my kids and my husband and I look forward to my visits with these lovely ladies. Everybody knows your hair dresser knows more about you than your family does and it is nice to have that personal connection.

I received a coupon through Tippr to get a 90 minute massage from the Madison Salon and Day Spa several months ago. Finally I was able to redeem the coupon for the much needed massage. Upon entering the salon, I was surprised at how small the space was, especially the back massage room. I was greeted by Walter, the masseuse, who was very friendly. I filled out some basic paperwork and he showed me the back room. The Massage room is not even quite a room, but a small enclosure with a sliding door, a bed, a stereo and a hook for your clothing. It is simple and not quiet or very private, but it worked. There was definitely a lot of noise from the salon, but fortunately there were only a few employees left closing up, so I was not disturbed too much. Walter provided me with some headphones through which he piped some standard relaxing music. It definitely helped me to relax, but I still was able to hear some outside conversation. I can imagine that an appointment during the afternoon when the salon is in full swing would be very difficult, since you couldn’t fully relax and get into the massage. After getting over the first awkwardness of the atmosphere, Walter began, and he was great. He is a very sweet and sincere man who had a lot of nice information about the history of massage that he shared with me. I was able to chat with him for a bit and then really get into the relaxation once the massage was in full swing. He definitely has strong hands and good technique, which made the massage very relaxing. I think his sincerity and attitude helped make even more enjoyable. After the massage, Walter provided me with instructions for a good post massage recovery and a big bottle of water, which was a great touch. As long as you can deal with the atmosphere, the massage is definitely worth a visit. Great price, great technique and great attitude, though I would recommend a later afternoon appointment when the other customers have all departed.

I’ve been to this salon twice now to get the Brazilian blowout. I had great experiences both times, with two of the hair stylists. Both ladies knew just what to do, and knew a lot about the Brazilian blowout process and maintenance. My last blowout lasted about 8 – 9 weeks, looked great and felt smooth — just what a Brazilian blowout should do. Everyone I encountered at the salon was friendly, courteous and welcoming too.

I was not happy with my Brazilian Blowout from Madison Ave Salon. It was a bit straighter and lasted about 2 weeks. My experience was about the same as the other reviewers. I won’t be going back.

Like Caroline Z., I also waited to write this review. Not because I wanted to see how my hair would turn out(it was shockingly obvious by the time I left Madison Avenue), but because I was so upset over my experience at this«salon» that I didn’t even want to think about it. Cannot even believe they think they are capable of proving a client with a quality Brazilian blowout. I read this hole in the wall’s reviews beforehand and should have taken the questionable ones to heart. ESP Caroline’s. I just figured that I would have better luck. Shame on me. Her experience was almost identical to mine. The place was so disgustingly dirty and outdated. Not once did I notice a stylist sanitizing any of their tools. I was one of five ladies being worked on by two hairdressers. Clearly overbooked? Yep. But I noticed that two of the five were their girlfriends. This was made obvious by the unprofessional chit chat between them that I had to hear for almost three hours. After being put under a rickety dryer from the ’80’s with sopping wet hair for a good 45 minutes I was finally paid some attention. One of the ladies then began to squirt the BB solution into my hair. I noticed she didn’t even saturate all my hair before sticking me back under the dryer. After my hair dried somewhat she sloppily began to Run a straightener through it. This lasted about 3 minutes before rushing me off to a sink to wash the solution out. Kat, one of the two stylist and apparently the owner, took over from there. I could tell almost immediately that the BB wasn’t successful. I asked why my hair looked exactly the same even after she raved about the amazing benefits I would surely notice. That’s when things got gritty. Kat began to belittle me, saying that it was my hair’s fault and that she’s not responsible. «You’re a physical person and I provided you with a physical service» was all she kept saying. Hmm OK? I guess that means that she did SOMETHING to my hair and that alone was good enough. Long story short, I left the salon crying. The entire time I sat in that icky salon I just hoped that it would be worth it because I would have shiny, frizz free, and straight(at least straighter) hair. What an absolute waste of time and money. They defiantly don’t know what they are doing. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else. And if you have a DEALFIND voucher… Take it up with their customer service for a refund.
