Best Mexican food I’ve found in Seattle!!! Way better than el camion, and every other taco truck I’ve been to. Stopped by Malena’s Tacos after my husband convinced me to try it. He had been working on me for a couple months and I finally gave in. He wasn’t joking, this place is amazing!!! The salsa was very good — a bit spicy but not too much. The horchata was excellent, as were the carne asada tacos. So happy to have a new favorite Mexican restaurant!

I grew up in San Diego where Mexican food is abundant and delicious — damn delicious. Finding the same caliber of taste and quality is usually a struggle anywhere outside the 619÷858÷760. So, I was a little skeptical when I saw Malena’s. But, a previous SD native Unilocaler’s review made me want to give it a try. I ordered the Carne asada burrito — my go-to at any hole in the wall. It was massive and meaty. It was actually even too meaty for this carnivore. The meat was at times a bit dry, but overall, it hit the spot. They also put green bell peppers in it, which was different, but adds a nice veggie balance. Overall, it’s not SD-caliber, but it’s pretty close. I urge any other fellow SDEers to give Malena’s a try.

So, I live and work a stone’s throw from Malena’s. And I get HANGRY for cheese and onion enchiladas as often as the average hypoglycemic vegetarian. Their enchiladas are amazing, in that way food always is when you’re about to bite somebody from low blood sugar. It isn’t particularly healthy, ‘local,’ or any of that business. It is a sit down restaurant with taco shop prices. Given that Pecado Bueno and even Taco Del Mar are taco shops with healthy, probably locally made drinking straws, you can find better. But sometimes, you just want a Mexican coke from a tiny family restaurant where people know your name. I vote for the Malena’s world at least once a week. Make no sudden movements until I’ve actually eaten my food.

My birth right as a San Diegan is to be hypercritical/borderline obnoxious about the quality of taco shop food. I’m happy to report that I can’t criticize much at all here! Rule of thumb is that I will like the place of they call their«taquitos» rolled tacos and these guys do and they were delicious. I think they were even rolled and fried to order. At least they tasted that way. I also got shredded beef hard tacos and those were perfecto too. Only complaint is their salsa could be spicier.

This is, by far, the best taco shop in Seattle. The beef tacos(#2 on the menu, ordered crispy) are truly amazing– the best $ 8 you’ll ever spend. The plates have just a little more care put into them than the average taco shop in the price range– the pinto beans are freshly sprinkled with cheese, the tacos are fried until crisp and then have fresh lettuce, tomato, and cheese stuffed into them, and a generous scoop of guacamole comes with your food. The staff is also so friendly and they bring your food to the table– a great mix of indoor taco stand(ie Capitol Hill’s Rancho Bravo) and small ‘family’ restaurant. Downsides– this place is always freezing(who cares? But bring a sweater), and I once saw the guy working wash windows, take orders, and then serve food all without changing his gloves– but you don’t come to a place like this for their food safety practices. The food is excellent and that’s what matters.

Get. The. Guacamole. On a burrito. With the chips. In a bowl all by itself. Rub it on your skin. I won’t judge. It’s the holy green grail. Creamy dreamy fresh garlicky goodness. With el camion right up the street, one might drive by malena’s without a second thought. DONOT make that mistake! The price point, flavors, free chips(if you sit down & eat), and guacamole(have I mentioned that yet?) make it a mexican must have. The service is speedy, the spices authentic, and the combo plates are the perfect size for a big lunch or filling dinner. It’s a clean place with a relaxed, no-frills atmosphere(most of the clientele are local construction workers, after all). Skip the taco truck – malena’s puts all competition to shame.

Malenas has some of the best carne Asada tacos in the Seattle area on the cheap. Each Malenas has a different salsa, the Ballard one is smooth with the perfect amount of kick. They now accept cards and the service is great.(There was a woman who was rude but I think she got fired for sucking at her job) Keep it up.

Awful!!! Wow I spent $ 11.00 and could’ve bought a better TV dinner. The cheese enchiladas were over salty, tortillas were barely warmed up. I used to really like this place but I think they changed owners. I’ll never be back.

Its not perfect, but the food tastes good, the salsa is great and the chips are free is you eat there. I love the rolled tacos(But tell them not to put Parmesan cheese on them, still not sure why they do that). Beans have good flavor and again the salsa is tasty.

I moved to Seattle from Arizona 2 years ago, and have been on the hunt for a delicious, reasonably priced taco shop like the ones back home ever since. If you’re looking for some cool place with low lighting and atmospheric music to take a date, head over to Matador. But if you want tasty, fast, and cheap Mexican food — this is the spot. The burritos are big and awesome. Everything tastes fresh and authentic.

I used to like this place, until I watched my food being made and handled by a young woman without any gloves on while she kept scratching her face and playing on her cell phone. I can’t get over this so I will not be back. My advice, sit in a seat which faces the kitchen to witness yourself.

I love Malena’s! I was always a little bummed they didn’t take cards but they just started accepting them! I always get a chile relleno and I’m never disappointed. Their tortillas are always really good. I always go to Malena’s when I’m craving Mexican because it’s pretty cheap and right in the neighborhood! There’s not really any parking except a parking lot you have to pay in, but I think the food is definitely worth it!!! The dishes are big, so you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.

Nice staff. Fresh food. Cash only. I’m still searching for good old fashioned oily as all get out deep fried tacos. Their effort is alright. I like the rolled tacos better. The quantity of the sides you get on a combo plate is a bit light. It is fairly pricey for what you’re getting, but the food quality is fresh and delicious. Parking is better on Monday thru Thursday after 6pm.

The picadillo tacos were delicious, well spiced and they were made at the time I ordered, so I know they were fresh. Guac was good and I liked the fact that you got the chips and salsa with the meal. I felt it was a bit expensive, but not too bad. The salsa was kind of bland with the chips, but somehow was amazing on the tacos. No complaints here, I would go there again, but maybe next time with a coupon. :)

No complaints with Malen’a Taco’s. A nice little taco shop in Ballard that is locally owned. Malena’s has competitive prices, large portions and a small dining room. They provide a basket of chips if you dine in, but the serving size with this is exceptionally small(but they are free). The chicken is full of flavor and the staff shows great team work and a hard work ethic. The inside is also very clean though dated. Recommend this as a great local business.

Malena’s is a solid taqueria. It’s not super fancy. It is inexpensive. It’s pretty quick. And the food tastes good. I’ve really got no complaints. Also, the plates are a really good deal. I got the Pollo Asado plate and it was SOMUCH food, and the chicken was really tasty. I honestly think two people could split one of those.

This place is pretty good. me and my girlfriend were walking around Ballard and stumbled upon this place. I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito and it was really good. It reminded me of one I would get from a food truck. The meat was marinated nicely and was very flavorful. I would not mind stopping in again.

Just out walking around at night and I run into this gem. It was empty, but that never bothers me much… I had pork tacos on housemade tortillas. I felt like I was back in Mexico! The salsas had so much flavor, but I didn’t put salsa on two tacos because the meat was so delicious on its own! I live close enough to PDX, but I usually stick with food carts. Now I have a great Mexican joint to go to. Ill be bringing people here next time!

This place was delicious! I had the asada tacos and they were delightfully fresh tasting. My only complaint was that there was waaaaaaay too much guac up in my tacos. I’m not a huge guac fan so it made me gag a little. I scraped most of it off and it was much better! The service was fast. It is a very casual place where you pay cash, and you eat your basket of tacos. All in all, I will be back, and I will say«No GUAC» next time!
