This is my first time eating the HomBow. I’ve never eaten HomBow before where it is sweet on the outside and salty on the inside. I was a little hesitated at first, and then I decided to give it a try when everyone before me ordering it. PLACE: It is located in the Pike Public Market. It even has a beautiful Chinese name – 美心饼家. FOOD: Pot Stickers(3⁄5) I actually think the pot stickers were just average. Coming from Beijing/California, I’ve eaten much better pot stickers than the ones offered here. There are many more booths here in the market. Go for some seafood if you want to eat some meat LOL Chicken HomBow(4.5÷5) I was surprised by the flavor of the HomBow. As I mentioned above, it was sweet and sticky on the outside where the bread was soft in texture. Also, it was salty on the inside with chicken and onions. Highly recommend this one if you are visiting this Chinese pastry. Definitely worth spending the $ 3.42 here. Red Bean Cake(5⁄5) I have very high expectations for the red bean. Some of the read bean fillings could be too sweet for me. This small cake contained a pretty decent amount of red bean, and they weren’t very sweet for me. Highly recommend this one when you are at this bakery!

Is it a little pricey? Sure, but it’s also in the most touristy part of Seattle. Is it delicious? HECKYES. Their hum baos are perfect for a quick, handheld snack to munch on while you explore the market and hold you over until your next meal. I love their BBQ pork hum bao — it’s pillowy, slightly sweet bread envelopes the hot, sticky and delicious BBQ pork perfectly. Some people seem to dislike the meat to bun ratio, but I personally enjoy a bite of just bun here and there to cleanse the palate and get me ready for the next bite. One of my favorite little spots in Pike Place.

Two words: Affordable and delicious Mee Sum Pastry is more of a to-go and quick snack place. I got the BBQ pork bun and the red bean pastry cake/bun. I didn’t eat both items right away and I saved it for the next day. Both items were still good to eat. I had the BBQ pork bun for breakfast and it was tasty. The red bean pastry was good and I ate it during my flight back to NYC. Not bad for Chinese baked goods in Seattle. I recommend for you to drop and try it for yourself.

dang it, this is only my first day in Seattle and I had all these restaurants written down to try during my stay. But now I don’t see myself eating anything but their bbq pork or curry beef buns. Ugh it’s so good I want to cry I’m from SF and the bbq pork bun is better than clement street’s. I might like the curry beef one even more though,

Everyone raves about the pork bao… but it’s the chicken bao that’s the star for me! The pork bao reminds me of a char siu bao — bbq pork wrapped in a bun. The pork was good, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the bread. The chicken bao, however, had the fluffiest bread ever! Plus the combination of chicken and other fillings was amazing. Due to their CC limit($ 5), I was forced to get 2 baos — I saved my chicken bao for lunch the next day and it was still amazing! I only wish I ate it fresh… Next time!

We were pleasantly surprised to find Mee Sum Pastry. We thought it was another bake goods store in the crowd of many at Pike Place Market. The line was short and I wanted to bring back some Bao and Red bean sesame seed balls back to the hotel. Easy ordering and had the items packed really well so as to keep it fresh. I typically don’t always look for any price points so when the lady told me $ 10, I said WOW. Ok, so this is not Seattles International district(China Town). Once we got back to the hotel, we had our dinner ready. The pork in the Bao was outstanding. It was sweet, succulent, sticky, savory and oh so good inside that white steamed soft bun. It would have been fantastic if we ate it at the Mee Sum Pastry place when it was still really warm. The sesame seed ball had a great seed texture and the red mung bean inside was tasty sweet and that was a great dessert. I only wish that I had ordered more of what was displayed. This place is a must go back to for me!

My friend told me that I have to try their crab Rangoon. Last time I was there I didn’t because it’s was $ 2.50 each plus the exchange rate it’s $ 2.50×1.35 that time for the small thing was a bit pricy. I told my friend about it and he was like you should have tried it, it’s so good and it’s worth it. So this time I went back and exchange rate is 1.2. Got three of them because they were in fact very delicious. They are generously filled with real crab meat and cheese. Yummy! Must go back next time to grab more

On behalf of my boyfriend, he rates this place as 4 stars. We were curious to know the reason behind the extremely long line all day every day! Made a pit stop before heading out to the airport. Of course, later on in the day, there’s less options. Who knows how fresh they are, where they make it, how long it’s been out. But… It was good haha. My boyfriend chowed down on it.

Living in the midwest there are limited options for dim sum type offerings so anytime we’re back on the Left Coast we gotta make sure we get some delicious steamed pork buns! The options here are solid. Lots of different BBQ buns and dessert type options. We grabbed a bunch of coconut buns, some Sesame balls and barbecue pork buns. All were very good. Our only gripe was that it seemed a little bit on the expensive side. We got enough to feed two or three people and it came to about $ 30. It seems like a similar amount that would cost between 12 and $ 15 at a dim sum restaurant. Regardless, it was definitely worth the expense and everything was delicious. Worth checking out if you’re interested in anything dim sum-esk but don’t have time to go to an actual restaurant. Great for snacks, great introduce the kids to something new and great to take home with you to share. The line is always pretty healthy here so don’t be surprised if it takes a little bit, but know it’s worth it.

At first, I was a bit skeptical of this place. Why? The buns seem oddly too big for the usual baked hom bow and the long line always deter me from waiting too long. Turns out this place serves some pretty bad ass BBQ pork. Stopped by(no line!!) for a quick bite and man… I am feeling the fullness from the pork bun. Instead of your usual glazed baked BBQ pork that you would normally see at dim sum places, the buns here are pretty normal with a slight crisp feel to it. It’s true that it may take a couple of bites of bread before you hit the filling. Once you reach the meaty filling, it’s like foodgasm time. The BBQ pork is juicy and plentiful. The strong yummy flavor of the pork contrasted well with the plain bun, making it a perfect balance of the two. If buns aren’t your thing, try the BBQ pork on the stick. Every bite is definitely worth it. :) Happy to have found another yummy spot in the Pike Place area.

Brought a few hom bows to bring to the airport for an effortless dinner during our last day at Seattle. These bread are basically what you would find in Chinese bakeries, except poofier! Mee Sum doesn’t have as large of a variety as that of other Asian bakeries, but they do bake some enormous, delicious buns! Their hom bows are basically pineapple buns with meat fillings, such as Chicken, Pork, Curry Beef, and Mayo & Ham. They have a few other Chinese pastries, including Sesame Red Bean Mochi Ball, Wife Bread, and Ham + Corn Bread. We got the hom bow with chicken($ 3.75), a hom bow with pork($ 3.75), and a Sesame Ball($ 2.25). The bows were huge, definitely one of the biggest pineapple buns I’ve ever seen! The fillings were plentiful, as the Chicken was peppery and the pork was sweet and savory(a plus for not having lots of fat-filled pork chunks). The Sesame Ball was also delicious(fresh and chewy)! I highly recommend you to eat the buns when they are fresh and warm, but if you are travelling like me, I’d recommend to grab extra napkins(and double bag the buns) as these hom bows may create a crumbling mess. If you want to try something new, perhaps Mee Sum isn’t the place to go. But, if you are looking for a delicious, filling, cheap, quick(never really a line) and convenient meal, I’ll definitely recommend getting a hom bao over grabbing one of those bread at Pirosky Pirosky down the block.

One of my favorite fast food stalls across from the Market. Bought 2 Chinese BBQ pork steamed Baos, one BBQ pork on a stick, and 2 Baked BBQ pork Baos … Can you tell we like their BBQ roast pork? Lol They are really delicious with the meat filling and are reasonably priced for what you get. Lines can be long, but it moves very quickly. No place to sit, so you walk up to the counter to place your order, pay then eat as you check out all that Pike’s Market has to offer. The«Baos» are filled with meat and sauce. And are pretty filling. Finding parking around the market is a real challenge so if you are going to pick up some food at Mee Sum and have your car… bring someone with you so that one of you can pick up the food while the other circles the area with the car. A definite must if you are at Pike’s Market!

Place is very small and you walk up to the counter and«order». Most things are premade – just pick and choose and it’s bagged for you. Pastries are very tasty and more authentic than most places. A little spendy for the proportions but they are more filling than they look – dense pastries! Only downside is the fact that the sun shines on the pastries as the day goes on. Summer days means twice baked pastries.

During my foodie Seattle visit, I came here almost everyday for breakfast or lunch-time snacks. My favorite was the BBQ Pork Bun. The bun was crispy and the BBQ pork filling was a perfect balance of sweet and savory. I also tried the BBQ Pork on a Stick. It’s basically chunks of BBQ pork and pineapple on a skewer stick. Again, a nice balance of sweet and savory. On one visit, they ran out of the BBQ Pork Buns, so make sure you stop by in the morning on peak days(weekends). If you don’t have this place bookmarked, do so now. You won’t regret it.

I was running errands around downtown and decided to become a tourist visiting Pike Place Market for a little bit. I always love seeing the atmosphere at the flea market… the tourists and all the energy and great livelihood of this area(during the daylight time!) is amazing and made me feel happy about the fact that I now get to live in Seattle… the most awesome city I’ve lived so far! :) Ok.digressing back to my review… I walked pass Mee Sum Pastry and realized, oh wow, all these days, I actually never really tried their BBQ buns after reading and hearing about it so many times. So I did get in a line and got the Baked BBQ Pork Bun($ 3 inc tax). Oh wow… it was actually quite good! Yumm. I love the fluffiness of the bread and it was quite a great combination eating that with the BBQ pork inside. The BBQ pork on its own was a little too sweet for my taste. However, eating the pork filling with the bread it comes with tasted quite yummy. It was a perfect snack for the afternoon after walking around the area! I would definitely stop by this place again if I were looking for a quick snack to get my energy up while walking in Pike Place Market area. The price was right, and the taste was great… and the seemingly long line actually moved quite fast!

Deeeeelicious! While cruising around Pike Place we happened across this spot. There was a decent sized line, but it moved fast. The ladies behind the counter know how to get things done! I tried the steamed bbq bun and the baked bbq bun. Both were tasty, filled with a delectable meat mixture that just made my mouth happy. The baked bun had a nice texture. I look forward to trying more from their menu.

Hmmmmm as a dimsum veteran … I don’t think the hom bow here is anywhere near«amazing» or «mind blowing» First of all the size is just tooooo big… Americanized I see but this is like 3x the normal hom bow in HOng Kong… As a result it took me 3 bites before I got to the filling Second, the BBQ pork stuffing was not that flavorful… the chicken one was OK though Third, the bread itself. It was plain … Nothing special, the chicken one was covered with sugar but pretty much lacks the taste on the bun itself. I didn’t have to wait for these buns otherwise I would be even sadder and more disappointed but yeah. There are not many places that have hom bow in the US so probably it is fair to say that it is among the best in the states but still … Not up to my standard sorry

This is a must stop when u come to the market i bought a big almond cookie it was fresh and crispy and very flavorful. Also tried the hot dog wrapped around in dough that was so good but embarrassing when i ate it because when i got it, it had just came out the oven my mouth was watering but it was so hot to bite that when i went to take a bite i actually drooled on my self lol man that was embarrassing i looked like a drooling fool lol. The wife pastry was also good it was flakey and the middle of it had some kind of filling i honestly dont know what it was but it was tasty!!! I would definitely come back here again.

Located in Pikes Place Market, I’d recommend coming early before the line grows or before they run out of things. Got the BBQ pork hom bow and the red bean moon cake. The hom bow was delicious as the bread was soft and sweet and the bbq pork was hot and yummy(a tad too much on the sweet side for me, but it won’t deter me from getting this again). The red bean cake is heavy and can easily be shared with another person. It is a little dry for me but it is how moon cakes are(or the ones I’ve ever had). Great place to grab a pastry and be on your way. Service is not that hot here, but with the amount of clientele they get, they can get away with that.

Pike Place — so many eateries! One of which is Mee Sum Pastry, you could smell the buns from down the street! My boyfriend and I were strolling around Pike Place and were getting a little hungry but not hungry enough for a meal yet. So we decided to buy a bun here as a snack! They’re huge! $ 3.25 for a big bun — we got the BBQ Pork(what we normally would eat). The buns were being kept warm near the front and there were plenty of other baked pastries to choose from. Def a place to stop by if you want a snack!
