I love a good bbq pork banh mi sandwich but within a half mile radius of my apartment there are multiple places that serve a better banh mi for half the price. It cost just over $ 6, and was really small compared to other places. There was mustard on this banh mi, that’s how American it was. The bbq pork had an overwhelming lemongrass flavor, was tough and chewy and also had ketchup undertones. The vegetables inside the sandwich(carrots, onion, cucumber) seemed pickled and sour. Whoever made this sandwich also didn’t bother chopping the cilantro, be prepared to chew 6″ stalks. Overall, would never order a banh mi here again. Thankfully I had also ordered an Italian soda and saved it the day and washed away the bad taste of the sandwich.

Swung in on my way back to work today, as I’d heard they made a great banh mi. They were nice folks behind the counter and service was swift. However, the sandwich was meh. Served on a hoagie roll, not a baguette(which I can get past), the veggies were fresh, not pickled and the chicken was flavorless. It wasn’t a BAD banh mi, per se, just nothing to right home about — ESPECIALLY for the price…$ 6.49 for a 5-in sammie. Core Bistro in the Seattle Municipal Tower does a FAR better sandwich and a their prices are much better, too. Sorry, Mimosa Café, you left me flat.

Went here for lunch today, since it’s only a few blocks away from my current gig.(And too hot for further travel for my poor, Seattle summer body.) Café was clean, and the employees were really friendly. It was empty when I came in around 11:30, so my pork sandwich and congee to go were made up and ready within 5 minutes. The congee was tasty, though it could have used a little shoyu.(Most congee tastes like that to me though, so I wasn’t bothered by it!) The sandwich itself was served on more of a hoagie type bread than the typical, but I didn’t mind that either.(It certainly saved my mouth from being chewed up by pointy bread!) The pork was tender and flavorful, the veggies crisp and pickly. All in all, a good little lunch spot! For under $ 10, I’ll definitely stop by again for my midday snackings.

$ 6.69 with tip for a very, very disappointing breakfast sandwich. I would have been better off going to a diarrhea palace like Jack in the Box or Burger King. I ordered what I think was the frittata and ham with provolone… but really what I got was just a bagel with a slab of cheese and a less than half inch thick microwaved egg. No ham anywhere to be found. When I asked the woman working the front counter if maybe they missed the ham, she told me «no, it’s just baked in there.» Unless they’re baking with invisible ham now, there was none to be found. Prices are way too high for the quality their selling. Won’t be back.

Service is quick. You pay at the counter and seat yourself. Help yourself to plastic fork and spoons. Water in little paper cups. Ordered soup and sandwich. The sandwich was a little dry. When I asked to get a bag/box for my sandwich later on, she looked at me as if I’m nuts.

Cute little café with polite and friendly workers! I ordered bahn mi and gumbo soup. Both are pretty delicious! I wish the buns were a bit warm but I guess that’s how bahn mi is served? There are plenty of seats in the café. Price is decent, so it the portion. I will come back again and try their stew… it looked pretty yummy!

For a upscale corner lot, this place was a welcomed site. Banh mi combo for $ 6.75 includes an authentic Banh Mi and a tiny side of chicken congee or gumbo. I had the congee since I’ve not had one for awhile and it’s a hallmark of a Vietnamese dish and the beef Banh Mi. All the ingredients are included that you will find in the sandwiches plus they toast it for you toget a nice crunch. The congee was light and refreshing and that I’m used to eatin on cold days like this growing up. It has a hint of ginger slivers as well and fresh scallions. The cook stepped out front when I ordered and I noticed she was Vietnamese. This just confirmed that my order would be like mom used to make. Table top spices include sirracha and black pepper. It didn’t have any soy sauce or pickled jalapeños but that’s okay.

Cute little café with great stew, sandwiches, and spring rolls!!! They make the food quick and fresh. The employees are polite and friendly. The spring rolls are enormous!!! The meat they use for the sandwiches is good quality, not fatty and gross like other places. The baguettes are awesome. I haven’t tried the breakfast but it looks good and is served all day! I will come back for sure.

Why is this place not all 5 stars??? I get the bahn mi… chicken sandwich and the chicken soup. GOODLORD it is amazing. The people here are so friendly and nice and don’t laugh at me when I can’t pronounce anything. And its very cheap! Also, they use a lot of cilantro which I love. My curious taste buds have just confirmed that the decadent use of cilantro across various sandwiches and soups at mimosa café is worthy of a 5 star review.

I wish I had written a review for Mimosa a year ago… The quality of the food is not the same since new management took over. I recently had the chicken curry. The portion was smaller, the curry was much oilier than in the past, and the rice was dry and crunchy. *sigh* Time to hunt for new lunch spots.

Owner change. So disappointed with foods, services and new owner/staffs. it has been one of my favorite lunch options for last 2 years. It is a history now.

My friend brought me here during lunch and I was pleasantly surprised as to how cute this place was! We each ordered spring rolls to bring it back to our office to eat– this came out in lightening speed. Service was very courteous, we were standing around unable to decide what we wanted to eat. This was my first time so I was happy that I wasn’t rushed when I was trying to decide. I wanted to try bo kho but I was halfway full from a meh salad from another place, please don’t judge me I know I’m fat lol. Selections aren’t a ton but it’s not limited to a point where you wouldn’t find something you wouldn’t want to try. My other friend had congee and a banh mi earlier this week, so definitely these items will be on my list next time when I’m very hungry! Let’s talk spring rolls! I love spring rolls and this place delivers. Portion sizes are fair, these things were loaded with fresh lettuce, herbs, meat and shrimp. I really liked it, I’ve been to places where the spring rolls are loaded with bean sprouts or there just isn’t enough ingredients to satisfy you, not the case here. Spring rolls are easy to make people, don’t buy them where you feel you’re being jipped by quantity or quality. Two sauces came with the spring roll– a thin hoisin based sauce and your standard sambal. I wished there was peanuts included because it would have been even more delicious. The hoisin based sauce is actually pretty good, sweet and acidic but a bit runny for my taste. I’m use to thick peanut sauce made with peanut butter, that’s just a personal preference. I liked it though! Prices are fair for what you get, I’m definitely returning!

Good place for lunch, family owned and they are really nice and friendly. My favorite go-to is the prawn and chicken fresh rolls. 2 huge rolls(cut in half, 4 halves) they give you peanut sauce and red chili sauce. Very fresh and filling. I have had the bahn-mi and congee as well. Its not amazing but good and the prices are right. The fruit and granola has never let me down either. The egg frittata sandwich has way too much egg. Big huge block as can be seen on the pictures. That’s just too much for me, I wasn’t impressed. Cookies and bars are yummy/ Really this café is nothing fancy by any means but is great for price, location and food. I knocked 1 star off because they are inconsistent. The café closes at 4pm but I have gone there at 3:45pm to see the door closed and all the chairs already stacked inside. Also I gone there another 2 times in the past month but they were closed when they should have been opened.

This café is a few blocks from my office. They serve hot drinks, cold drinks, baked goods, and lunch time fare. I’m not a lemon bar fan so I opt for the raspberry bar. It’s a decent size for a morning snack and has the right proportion of raspberry. The bottom crust is nice and sturdy for early morning mishandling(I tend to drop a lot of stuff in my sleep induced haze). The top is sweet, caramelized a little for nice texture, and the topping is pretty good. They also have muffins, rice crispy treats, and other baked goods. They serve espresso, coffee, and Vietnamese coffee. I’ve had the bahn mi before(a coworker brought them to my office) and it’s decent. I’m a fan of pork bahn mi and enjoyed the bread, veggies, and meat. I like a higher quality jalapeño than they provide but I’d definitely have it again. The current price is $ 6.49 which I think is expensive, except for the fact that you get your choice of soup with it.

What a gem! Visiting from California and a local told me about this place so I came here with my girlfriend and a few friends. We had the gumbo, pulled pork, pulled chicken and beef stew. TASTY! Gumbo — very flavorful, had a nice unique twist with some BBQ sauce in it. Pulled pork/chicken — tender meat! And not drowning in sauce either so you can add extra if you like, bread was soft as well. Beef stew — it was a traditional Vietnamese stew with a BBQ twist, the broth was flavorful and the bread was amazing! Would I come back if I’m back in Seattle? YES! Might even visit this place one more time before I leave :)

I have mixed feelings about Mimosa Café, where I ate lunch with 2 friends this week. Pros: Friendly service, excellent rice and beans side dish that came with the Vietnamese sandwich. It was an odd-sounding combination that actually worked really well. Cons: high prices… I just can’t see myself paying $ 7 for the banh mi again, when I can walk a few blocks to the ID and get a better one for under $ 3. Even if it did come with a delicious side dish of rice and beans. The pork in the sandwich was dry and coated with some kind of pink-colored BBQ sauce such as you would find on Chinese roast pork. It was off-putting to me, but, my friend loved it! They have a large menu with a lot of different items; I would probably give them another try with the cajun/creole-style food since the red beans and rice were so good.

I came here today after reading some of the good Banh Mi reviews. I walked in after the lunch hour and it was pretty empty. I ordered with the guy behind the counter. Just got the Banh Mi, no soup. The price was over $ 7JUST for the sandwich. I got charged the same as with the soup.? Most places in this area charge around $ 3.50−4.50 for the sandwich. The actual sandwich — nothing to write home about. It appears to be Char Siu chicken, but does not taste like it. It was just red. And dry. There was a lot of meat, so if you were hungry, it would be filling. Just flavorless. The carrots and cucumber weren’t like the ones you get in typical Banh Mi — pickled, they were just plain. Light on the may which was nice. Overall, they were lacking any pizazz. The baguette was pretty good, not too hard, not too soft. Just right. Will I come back? Probably not. Unless I really wanted the Banh Mi WITH soup combo. And I’d try something other than the chicken.

When I worked at a(very shitty) job in Pioneer Square, this unassuming little café was all that got me through the day sometimes. Everyone there is so nice! And they make the food so quick, so people with tiny lunch breaks can relax and enjoy it in peace for a while. I almost always order the tofu banh mi with rice and beans. The tofu marinade is on the sweeter side, which is okay with me, and the servings are huge. I’ve also tried their raspberry bars and the Nutella mocha. Everything is solidly good every time, inexpensive, and really filling. I love Mimosa Café and I go out of my way to get lunch from them every once in a while, now that I no longer work in Pioneer Square. Man, that was a terrible job. Thanks, Mimosa Café, for brightening my day every time I’ve visited.

This is a great place to eat lunch. One of the few good deals around. I have had the Bahn Mi and Congee, Vietnamese Stew and Spring Rolls. The Bread for the Sandwiches and that they serve with the Stew Crispy on the Outside and Soft on the inside. A bowl of Stew with Bread and Butter on a cold winter day is the ultimate in Comfort Food. I have never had their Cookies, but they speak to me… One of these days I will give into their voices and try them. They look like Cookie Hubcaps.

This is one of my go-to’s for stuff from coffee to lunch items. They do great coffee; I’ve had stuff from the nutella latte to the good ol’ vanilla(reg, soy, w/e). For lunch, I’ve had all the banh mi’s except for the veggie(soon I shall). The tofu slabs, the chicken, the grilled pork, the beef… all great with enough to make you satisified. The bread may come across as tough to some; taking smaller bites can help ease mouth pain. The gumbo and congee are delicious and taste fresh. Gumbo bursts with a bit more taste; congee is more simple and subtle. The beef stew is delicious — I usually add rice to help soak ‘er up. Always hold the utensils because I keep my own in the office; sustainability, green, recycle, etc, yada yada. Staff is awesome and Thomas(owner/co-owner?) is super cool, smooth and friendly.
