Nickerson pub is right down the road from our Seattle house. We love walking down for a cider. They have a great view of the Fremont Bridge, and the high volume traffic corner location really gives this simple pub a unique urban feel. Good food, sports screens all around, a Seattle favorite.

We just moved to Washington state, having lived in San Francisco area all of our lives. Today we were. In Seattle for Dr. appt. & to pick up fountain for the yard. Down the street from the Fountain/Statuary business, we saw Nickerson’s Saloon, and stopped in. Very homey, old, cute, pegs under the bar for women’s purses [a big ++]. Food very good. .I had ½ turkey sandwich on rye with sm. bowl of excellent lentil soup. Hubby had hamburger with fries and say it was excellent. View of bridge out side the door and the water was a nice bonus… Restaurant has been there since 1933– love the history of the place !! We’ll be back !! judith

So in Seattle, you have neighborhoods–(Queen Anne, Fremont, Ballard, Belltown, etc). Then you have the mini-neighborhoods that are in between(frelard, lower QA, Denny triangle, etc). And while every mini-neighborhood might have a bar or two, they don’t have anything like the Dexter/Nickerson mini-neighborhood has in Nickerson Street Saloon. Meals? Oh yes. Good drinks, wine options, solid taplist? Always. Even a Scotch list? Macallan, Oban, Laphroaig, or Lagavulin… Even in a simple«saloon.» Plenty of house cocktails, as well as a great happy hour option. Also some good choices for lunch and a ton of sunny seating for the warm-ish months(55 or more in Seattle…) Yeah there are a lot of regulars, but((gasp))they’re really laid back and friendly and more than willing to be joined by new faces. Whether you want a pint, a happy hour plate, a full meal, or all of the above, this is a great place to keep in mind and try out.

This place is a close walk from my apartment, so my roommate and I took a jaunt down to test the waters. This saloon is bright and clean, and we were greeted right away. They had a nice selection of beers and a cider on tap. The food selection was standard bar/diner fare, and we enjoyed the pork tacos and burger with fries. I would definitely come back to watch a game or sit on the patio when the weather gets warmer

I went to the Saloon for a team lunch. The service quality was excellent, we had our orders taken quickly and our food was served in a timely fashion(our party of 11 was in and out in around 50 minutes). In terms of the food itself, there wasn’t anything really amazing about it and options are limited if one has alcohol or meat dining restrictions. I had a veggie burger with a Kaliber non-alcoholic beer(only option they had besides your normal sodas). The burger was better than most places I’ve been but the sides seemed a little below par either being too over seasoned or too bland. The place is great for a large party to go and eat, but don’t expect anything to blow you away.

Got served undercooked chicken. They took it back and remade it. Came out undercooked again. Parts had the texture of a raw oyster aka uncooked meat. Waiters decided to tell me I didn’t know what I was talking about. They did take half off the bill in the end. Sad situation. I ordered the Santa Fe Chicken Salad.

Nickerson is a great neighborhood bar. They have 2 good vegan food options, the veggie burger(skip the mayo and cheese) and the hummus plate(skip the feta). Also, hands down the best fries I’ve ever had. The outdoor seating is fun in the summer with a nice view of the Fremont Bridge and lots of excellent people watching. The bartender Tyler is always super friendly when we sit at the bar and remembers our condiment and drink preferences. My husband loves the beer selection and they have a big party when Bob’s Beer is released every summer. There is also free parking on the patio side of the restaurant. On a side note, I was super excited when I watched season 1 of The Killing and saw Nickerson in a few ariel shots.

Great middle of the road place to grab a bite and a beer, or catch a game. Not going to blow you away with anything(that we’ve had at least), but not going to disappoint you either. One of those places you can go to when you want something that won’t disappoint and want to know you’re going to get it. Do really enjoy the location right by the Fremont bridge, as well as the nice and plentiful outdoor seating.

An outdoor patio in Fremont that doesn’t allow dogs??? Also, through Underdog, they give out fake coupons. Stay in Queen Anne.

The taco platter is awesome… the home made smoked pork carnita was fantastic and tasted great w a Mack & Jack. I stopped by on Saturday afternoon and the football game was on every set providing entertainment. Tyler was behind the bar. very friendly and made my first time at the grill feel welcoming and a place I will definately stop by again.

I have to say that Nickerson was an OUTSTANDING location to throw a 30th birthday bash for my Fiancée. Reserving the patio area was beyond easy with Chris. He was so willing to accommodate my request for 40 guests. The area was sectioned off to allow for a private party set-up. Ain’t nothing like an outdoor party on a summer day! :) Food platters were beautifully done and the food was super yummy. Guests all commented on how lovely everything was prepared and displayed. No one left hungry. Platter portions are generous. We had a dedicated server that was wonderful and willing to go the extra mile(even allowing everyone to be on their own bar-tab). Superb service! Nickerson Street Saloon has top-notch service, wonderful food and an outstanding atmosphere for parties and events. I’d recommend this place for birthday parties, work events and even for a more informal wedding rehearsal dinner experience. I know I’ll be back for future events.

I’ve been waiting to find a cheap and culturally Seattle place to go whenever I want a beer and good food. I live on Queen Anne Hill and typically go to 5 Spot or Hilltop Alehouse because I can walk to those pubs. I wanted to go somewhere different, which means I was looking for a place that I could drive to, and the Nickerson Street Saloon was my selection! They have a great private parking lot on the opposite side of the private PAY parking lot. The staff was friendly enough. Nothing was as amusing as the people watching though. Lots of opportunity. They also have outdoor seating which was great but it was raining so we sat inside and centrally located. The waitress could’ve been a tad more attentive but I was fine after my first delicious Chinook copper ale. I’ll go back here again. This is a place to go with friends or with family looking for a Seattle experience. It’s got a great view of the Fremont bridge and was affordably priced.

My boyfriend and I have been here on two occasions. And we liked it. Order the nachos! And add the in-house smoked chicken breast. So tasty and crispy it’s the perfect hearty appetizer or compliment to a very reasonably priced pitcher of Rainier. I was pleasantly surprised with the burger as well — and the wings are all drumettes too so you get what you pay for. The only reason I give them 4 stars is that the 9 dollar calamari is a little on the skimpy side. But delicious none the less. Come for the 10 — close happy hour, any day of the week, and enjoy an 8 dollar shot and beer. :-)

I want to give it 5 stars. And I would but for the food. Specifically the prices & portion sizes. Let’s start with the good. The place is nice. Outdoor seating for nicer days. Nice interior. Friendly service. Beer of the month(local beer at reduced cost). View of the Fremont bridge. Clean. Overall, a nice pub/bar. Now the not so good. Ordered a cheese steak and subbed a salad for fries. It was $ 14. I would describe it as a grilled cheese with some meat — it was pathetic. For $ 14 I would have expected way more than a sandwich sized meal. So, come for the beer. If the cheese steak is indicative of the rest of the menu I’d go someplace else for food.

Happy Hour and Mediterranean(Hummus) Platter. End. Of. Story. It is a bummer that they took out their pool table when they remodeled years back, thank gawd they keep the booze and beer flowing. For years, my crowd has been hitting this scene throughout the year. During the summer, The Nick has an awesome patio; get there early because it is the hottest scene and packs quickly! There is an awesome view of the Fremont Bridge overlooking North Lake Union and despite the traffic coming into Queen Anne and Fremont it is still a hot spot. The wait staff knows their biz, as does the bar staff. Lots of seating inside, as well. I’ve been there with a TON of different groups; all of done well. Been there for a funeral party that was being held just across the street, a going away party, tons of summer parties, Halloween parties… you name it. GOTHERE. THEMEDITERRANEANPLATTER is a MUSTHAVE! The pita is soft, chewy, and pillowy with grainy hummus that I swear has a tang of vinegar. Cucumbers… they say they’re «marinated» but don’t let that fool you… they’re not soft, they remain crisp and they’re delicious! Feta cheese and roasted garlic come on the plate, too — — scoop it all up on the pita for a tasty delight… I’m drooling!!!

Having driven past this place many times on my way to more glamorous spots on Lake Union, I finally stopped in for a bite on a Sunday afternoon. Not having eaten anything all day, by 2:30pm I was starving. But strangely enough, nothing on the menu looked vaguely appetizing to me. Sure, there’s the usual burger and beer, fish ‘n chips, etc. — typical bar food — but nothing the other diners were having looked appetizing. Finally settled for a scramble(part of the brunch menu) which was quite good, but easily something I could’ve made at home. Boyfriend had a burger which was just OK. The location is great for people watching, or for listening to the thunderous sounds of vehicles going by on a warm day.

Nickerson is a solid place for a beer and sandwich. I’m not a vegetarian but they have a really GOOD veggie burger. Service has always been solid and seating is usually available for lunch. Not sure how busy it gets for happy hour or dinner. Overall this is a good spot to grab a bite and catch up with friends.

Just on the other side of the drawbridge from beautiful downtown Fremont. This seemed like a good place to grab a beer and a meal on my way home from work. I found tons of parking. Seriously. There is a paid parking lot on the west side of the building(avoid this) and free parking to the east. Both had plenty of open spots. The barman was pleasant and efficient, the selection of beers was very good and menu was decent. I had the happy hour cheeseburger and fries. Not fabulous. but not bad for six bucks. Or maybe it was seven. I got there at 5:30 and the crowd was kind of light. It was Halloween, so the staff was all in costume. Nothing all that appealing on the bigscreen, but I wasn’t interested in hanging out anyway. All in all, a pleasant find, until it was time to leave. If you want to make a right onto Nickerson, no problem. If you want to make a left, or cross Nickerson onto 3rd or even onto Florentia at 6:00PM, fuhgeddaboudit. The polite Seattle drivers are all on some other street.
