Odin Apartments

I’ve been doing a lot of research on where to live and Ballard was recommended. Odin was my first choice mostly because it is a smoke free building. I love that! But I’m giving it 4 stars because the apartments are definitely not made for someone below 5’4″ and while the management tries to be on top of their game, but the only one I can count on to follow through and do what they SAY they’re going to do is Megan. I understand that they’re busy but hey, so am I. We all have lives and things to do. Please follow through on your word because what else is going to fall through the cracks?
Anyway, like I was saying the cabinets are crazy high in the kitchen! They are not joking when they say they have high ceilings. I’m aware that I’m vertically challenged (5’0″) but I can’t even use the peephole without a step stool. :/

My husband and I have lived at Odin for just over 6 months now and we are both very happy here. The building is brand new and while it did have a few kinks to work out in the beginning I have to say the staff here goes above and beyond to communicate with all the residents about any issues that arise and what is being done to rectify them. That to me, is the most important thing.
The apartments are very nice, sleek and modern. They have high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows which allow for maximum light. The kitchens sport quartz counter tops and stainless appliances. The maintenance crew is very prompt in addressing any problems that need to be fixed. I had an issue with my refrigerator door and it was repaired the very next day.
The building has some very nice amenities, including a gym, a beautiful rooftop deck with fire pits and bbq’s as well as an indoor sky lounge and a dog wash (which I use often!).
Located in Ballard, Odin is steps away from so much fun stuff. Great restaurants, bars, shops, weekend farmer’s market, coffee shops, movie theater, etc. The location could not be better. Noise from the street so far is minimal. Our apartment faces the hospital next door and I very rarely, if ever, hear any sirens. Occasionally I hear a firetruck going down Market street but in comparison to San Diego where the firetrucks would obnoxiously BLAST their horns and sirens at max volume, the firetrucks here actually seem polite. It’s not an issue for me at all.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. They put together fun happy hour events for the residents every few months which is a great way to mingle with your neighbors and meet new people.
I do agree with what others have said about the parking. The spaces are tight and some of them are tough to get in and out of. I wish they were a little bigger. But with that being said, I imagine that this may be the norm for parking garages in any Seattle apartment building.
All in all, I give Odin five stars and two thumbs up! :)

I am relocating to Seattle, and landed at Odin — have been a resident for almost 4 months. I am very happy here — the location is amazing, the amenities are top-​notch, and the office staff do everything they can to make the community a home. I have a corner top floor apartment, and it is beautiful. Views are great, quality of fixtures is top notch. Security is very strong — I feel safe and comfortable here.
Ballard offers so much — restaurants, services, shops, movie theater, church, library — all within a very easy walk, including the Ballard Farmer’s Market on Sundays, only two blocks away. I looked at other, less expensive apartments, but the specific location of Odin, as well as my apartment layout, really sold me. I have a one-​bus ride (#40, 22 mins) to the Denny Triangle area downtown, which gives me commuting options besides driving in every day.
At first I was worried about the proximity to the Emergency Room for Swedish Hospital. My apartment overlooks it, but I never hear ambulances — they seem to go to a different entrance, not the one on Tallman.
Of course, with any new building there have been a few glitches (as I expected), but the building staff are very persistent in working toward resolution, and keep us updated via e-​mail about status. If you need a repair (which I did, ice maker didn’t work), you simply report this on their online tool, and you will receive progress reports as they address. Very efficient.
I use the online payment tool, as well, and there is no service fee to do so. It works flawlessly. I also have Wave G, which works great — installation was amazingly easy and quick.
Others have commented on the small parking stalls — agree. I have a Chevy HHR (not a big car), but I use a full-​size parking spot in the lower level because I do find the «compact» spots are really more like sub-​compact, and turning in between/​by the pillars is difficult. However, this isn’t unique to Odin, in my experience — I find this in many parking garages in Seattle.
I would not hesitate to recommend Odin to anyone looking for a modern and comfortable apartment with great amenities and an exceptional property management team.

Living in Odin has enhanced my Seattle experience! I just moved to the area from the Midwest. The staff here is wonderful — very kind, helpful, and courteous. The amenities are, I suspect, nicer than most. I don’t have any experience with vehicles here, but I might imagine parking to be adequate. I do appreciate the openness of the staff. Nothing has been overpromised, and the ladies here have gone above and beyond to make my stay pleasant. For a first home in Washington, Odin has been great. It definitely has a modern feel, but I have no complaints. Very satisfied with this choice!

Today is move in day and I am so in love with my new place. The staff are Rock Stars and the building Gorgeous! #designArchitecture winner Google it. The community had its first residents event last night sponsored by Ballard Labs… I was in the chaos of moving so I didn’t make it but I’m so excited about the next one. Great location, Great Staff with Stephanie, Ramier, Megan, Mischa, and Cydnee. They’ll make you feel right at home. To quote Mister Rodgers…“Won’t you be my neighbor! ”

Disclaimer: This review should be taken with a grain of salt. I’ve lived in this building for less than a month. This is also a new building that opened last month, so I’ll likely have a follow-​up review in the coming months.
Before our move-​in, Megan, who helped my boyfriend and me, was very enthusiastic and helpful. She is very knowledgeable about the business (Equity Residential) and informed us of the many conveniences of choosing an apartment with ER, among which include a 30-​day satisfaction guarantee as well as the option of moving to any other one of the prolific ER properties with no application fee. The first month’s rent was free due to the property being new, which ultimately sealed the deal for us. The move-​in itself was smooth. When moving in, we acquired a dent on the wall that needed filling – it was out of their routine repair services, I believe, but they did have it fixed for us upon request.
Overall, the building and our room is very nice. We live in the apartment O1 model. The ceilings are high, combating any feelings of crampedness and everything has a modern finish to it. The bathroom has a nice, deep tub and a textured flooring that makes me think grime won’t cling to it like it would on standard linoleum. The bedroom is carpeted and the living space sports a tasteful dark wood floor. Marble countertops and stainless steel accompany the kitchen. Another plus is the option of the high-​speed Wave G internet, which you can find in all of the newer buildings in the city. The noise level isn’t particularly bad – I’ve yet to hear anything from the rooms adjacent (though one is unoccupied) and the street noise is at a minimum.
This property is very new. There have been times where I’ve inquired about billing or property specifics, only to be told that they don’t know. I still don’t actually know how I’m billed for water and sewage. I was told that it was based on the occupancy, but not how. I can understand not being able to provide specific numbers (despite Urbana being literally within walking distance, they probably have a new system of measuring and billing usage in this new building), but Megan wasn’t able to clearly explain merely the logistics when I asked for more information.
There are also some kinks in all of the newfangled technology they are trying to integrate into the building. The apartment call box (ButterflyMX, which is pretty fancy and supports facetime) is currently down for maintenance. Our fobs don’t work on the front door so we have to go through the gym and the garage sensors don’t always open the door because they’re placed too far off to the side. There was one night where I literally had to jump out of my car and run through the building into the garage to press the button because I could not get it to open.
My primary complaint with this location is the garage. If you drive a compact, then this won’t be as much of an issue for you. However, I drive a minivan. They place rectangular pillars about every two or three spaces, but you almost always lose one spot per area between the pillars because there isn’t actually enough space, even with most compacts. The painted lines mean nothing if the pillars overextend into one side or the other. There is a particular spot near the elevator that I tried to park in with a blue pillar – I didn’t realize until too late that the pillar did not angle with the parking spot, but jut into it. This left a nasty scratch on the side of the back half of my minivan. It doesn’t bother me that there isn’t much space as much as the /​illusion/​of space we’re being given in this garage. If they had drawn the lines centered and angled with the pillars, it would be a LOT easier to tell which spaces are viable before committing to them and I wouldn’t have damaged my car.
There is absolutely no way they can book this lot to 100% – maybe not even more than 50% or 60% unless everyone brings home a minicooper. When I asked Megan about their plans for garage and at what capacity they thought they might book it, she had no idea because the building was only about a fifth occupied. I can absolutely see this causing a problem several months down the road, but we will see how this affects us. As it is, I’m extremely upset but a garage is not something that an apartment can easily change. I know for sure that this is probably going to be the main thing keeping me from recommending this place to friends.
This apartment is definitely carried by its modern amenities and friendly staff. I do have faith that regardless of what issues come up, they will work with me to do what they can and resolve them. For now, I can’t say that I’m in love with the place, but I hope that will change with time. One star comes off for the inconveniences of the new property and one star for the garage, but I’m sure I’ll have a great follow-​up in the future.
