I just called their office with a few questions. I am trying to find an orthopedic who specializes in hip labral tears and who accepts my form of payment. I couldn’t even ask any questions without being treated rudely and promptly dispatched to a voicemail where I promptly hung up. What has happened to fair treatment and compassion in this world? My friend had told me to look into going here and now I don’t even want to bother.

I tried booking an appointment online when I was traveling and the system was not quite up to handling my reservation request. When I returned and attempted to make a reservation on the phone, I was told that I couldn’t make one until they could verify my medical insurance. This is pretty weird as with other MD offices, your ability to pay isn’t a consideration of whether or not they’re going to give you a reservation. They must have had a bad day. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt and not scoring them one star.

If you end up breaking a bone and it requires surgery Orthopedics International should become your friend quickly. I had to go and break my elbow during a bike ride which needed surgery(boo!). My mom had knee replacement surgery and her doctor worked for Orthopedics International so she recommended this place to me. Orthopedics International is a pleasant office located on the cusp of the CD and Capitol Hill. The office staff is friendly and professional. The nurse staff is of the same caliber. There are about 10 orthopedic surgeons there which is an impressive number. I ended up seeing Dr. Larry R Pedegana and his nurse Cecile Blumenswieg. Dr. Pedegana knows his shit let me tell you. He was even the medical director for the Mariners. Although Dr. Pedegana is on top of his medical game he isn’t the most friendly person in the world. He comes in, checks you out, then leaves you standing in the dust. I was a bit perturbed by his lack of humility but my attitude changed when my physical therapist mentioned personable people become family doctors. Orthopedic surgeons are precise and are more concerned with making things work and how they like you better you when you are asleep so they can work on you. That makes perfect sense. Dr. Pedegana did surprise me by giving me a hug when I was getting slightly hysterical in his office. Having to learn how to reuse your arm can get overwhelming and he tried to comfort me the best he could. Bless his heart. Cecile is one of the nicest ladies on the planet. She is welcoming, caring, and understanding. I was very happy to have her around through this ordeal. Orthopedics International helped me out a lot(my arm is healing very well and Dr. Pedegana was even impressed by my progress). No one wants to hear the word«surgery» but if you need an orthopedic surgeon this place should be your first choice.
