Perhaps this guy can copy keys, but to claim that he’s a locksmith is a stretch. I went in today to see if he could repair an old door latch, as the new style won’t fit on this door. He told me it can’t be done, I have to buy a new one. I even suggested that it looked like all he had to do was drift out a pin and replace a spring. No, can not be done. Really? It took me less than 10 minutes at the bench and 10 minutes at the hardware store to take down, clean all the old gunk out, re-​lube and reassemble with the new spring ($.50) and it’s as good as new. This guy was not only unfriendly, but unhelpful and either incompetent or simply lazy.

All I needed was new copies of the house key and the car key (I lost them both yesterday). I drove down from Shoreline, because I knew how to get to this place, and I’m very glad I did. The keys were cut as I waited, and they work. Efficient friendly service, quality work, good price equals satisfied customer.

My son locked the bathroom door and I couldn’t pop it open the old fashioned way as a hanger didn’t work in the hole. I called and the person on call (it was after hours) spent time explaining that I needed a small flathead to catch and pop it open. He helped walk me through it to help avoid an expensive lockout fee. As I didn’t have the right tools and my son was sleeping, he suggested I hammer the end of the hanger to create a custom flathead. It worked great. Props to how friendly he was, helpful and going out of his way to not charge me money.

My son locked himself in our bedroom and the previous owners never left us the keys to any of the bedrooms. I called them in a panic and they arrived in minutes. He got my son out and was nice enough not to charge me. They will be the first place I call i need a locksmith again.

I don’t know how this place is in business. I have brought two keys to be duplicated, one truck key with no chip or anything, and a cabinet key. Both times I was turned away saying they couldn’t make them.

Our business provides services for clients in their homes. Our client list is long. So, as you can imagine, we make a lot of copies. And, we need keys that work.
Pacific Lock & Key does an outstanding job. We’ll literally drive out of our way to copy keys there. And this is why.
There’s a good chance anyone who’s copied a key has run into this problem. You go to use the copy; it doesn’t work. I know it seems like making a dupe of a key would be a simple task. It’s clearly a little more complicated, requiring a skilled touch.
Some free advice. If your time matters to you, avoid making copies of keys at places such as Home Depot, Ace Hardware or Fred Meyer. They use those machines that cut the key automatically. Those machines are hit and miss.
In my experience, it’s a 50 – 50 chance the copy from Home Depot, Ace Hardware or Fred Meyer is going to work. (OK, I’ll give those big stores the tilt and say their keys work, like, 60% of the time.) The point being, it’s a giant time-​suck having to go back and get a key cut a second time.
Here’s another reality I can share. No key place is going to cut a perfect key 100% of the time. We copy hundreds of keys a year. With that many copies, sooner or later, one’s not going to work. We go to Pacific Lock & Key because we feel they are the most likely to get the job done right the first time.
Super friendly people, too. They have been a pleasure to work with.

My wife lost the keys to the car while taking our two toddlers to the store.
Call AAA he came out and worked on my car for about an hour. And consistently complained about how he has to spend so much money on some token system for his computer to put in the codes for the ignition. He told me my computer took two tokens which for some reason his computers turned off midway and now he wasted the tokens.
He told me that he did not want to use any more tokens on my car and I should just have it towed to the dealer.
Had it towed to a secured parking lot
Had my keys next day aired out from my home in Los Angeles because we’re visiting in Seattle. I went to start my car and it didn’t start I contacted the dealership and told him what went on. They advised me that they were 99% sure that the key guy decoded my ignition and would now need to recode.
I contacted him directly and asked if he could come back and recode my car. told him I didn’t mind paying but would prefer to have a discount due to my troubles of paying FedEx, taking a cab, not having my vehicle for two days. He then started complaining about his token system again and said for me to call AAA first.
I waited and he never came! He said this was too much trouble for him and that maybe I should not have lost the keys in the first place. REALLY!!!
How would you have a business if people didn’t lose keys!!!
I’m sure this guy can do great work but the lack of customer service and ethics are completely upside down, I would advise you not to use this guy due to the lack of being a standup guy!!!

This place is great! I had been trying to get a key copied and had taken it to several different places including home depot, fred meyer, and lowes. None had the key in stock, as it was an older key. But pacific lock not only had the key in stock, but had a lot of them! The man behind the counter is super nice, and I had my new keys within minutes. Next time I am going to just skip the other places and come straight here!

Jerry has now ‘saved’ us twice, and we couldn’t be happier to have found him. We called him on a Friday evening about a broken front door lock, and he arrived within an hour. He is extremely friendly and professional. He has charged us a reasonable price both times we’ve called, and we recommend him highly!

I am a dog walker, so I wind up getting a lot of keys copied. After a few frustrating trips to the home depot key department, I decided to shop around for a place that carried a larger stock of different key types. I discovered Pacific Lock & Key and haven’t gone anywhere since. The service is fast and flawless, and they have a wide variety of key shapes and sizes.

Very fast and friendly! They were at our place of business in 20 minutes and we were able to get to our customer on time. We called pop a lock and they were very rude on the phone.

We’ve used these folks to do the simple task of duplicating keys and it took… like thirty seconds. Maybe it was closer to two minutes but the fact it… a lot of people think making keys is a hassle and if that ever were the case, it no longer is. Thanks folks.

Fantastic service. Our 2000 Ford Focus had been having ignition problems for years when it finally decided to lock up and not start at all after we’d parked it in an illegal spot near our house (whoops!). After calling mechanics with no luck we were about to get it towed to a mechanic who wouldn’t be able to look at it for days when it occurred to me to try locksmiths — these guys came out about 20 min after I called and had the car starting beautifully an hour later. And I’m sure for way less than a tow truck plus mechanic would have charged.

Great place. Fast and efficient. Walked over to Fred Meyers and back and my rekeyed doorlock was done.

Needed 2 copies of a housekey made. Took only a few minutes and $ 6. Quick, easy, got the job done. I left out a star because Joe was the only one there and was so busy that he didn’t acknowledge me waiting there; I almost left to go somewhere else – it took the good advice of another customer waiting that convinced me to stay, and I’m glad I did as I only waited a few minutes.

I recently locked myself out of the house and called this place because of the great reviews. Sure, the guy came out fast, which was awesome, but after quoting me 88 bucks over the phone, he said he would have to charge me double that because of the type of locks I had.
Being the stubborn cheap skate that I am, I decided to take matters into my own hands and climb up my porch and through an upstairs window. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before calling someone out…
Once the guy learned his services weren’t going to be needed, he said he had to charge me a «service and travel fee» of 48 bucks! (Um, he really racked up those miles traveling from Ballard. I live in Greenwood). I then told him I only had 35 dollars cash on me and asked him if he took credit cards, and guess what? He took the cash I had saying he couldn’t take credit cards.
I got seriously scammed. Be careful when using this place.
To be fair, I used this place once before when they had that little kiosk in Greenwood and they were great. Not sure what the hell happened this time around…

Superb Customer Service– and FAST!
My neighbor locked herself out of her home and car while walking her pups on a break from being at the hospital with her husband. She keeps a good attitude but these past days cannot be easy… to come home and be locked out would have been the last straw for me — she immediately thought of Pacific Lock and Key from seeing their truck — and called from the cell phone. The owner appeared within minutes and got her into her home seconds later. Nothing short of amazing. Prompt, friendly professional service that was provided was absolutely wonderful. THANK YOU!!!

I live in an old house in Seattle and today the 80+ year old lock mechanism finally died, for good. The key would not turn at all: I was completely locked out of my house.
I called about 4 places in Ballard and elsewhere in Seattle until I talked to Jerry at Pacific Lock & Key. He gave me a very clear quote about how much he would charge, up-​front, for his time and labor. And then he was able to come out to my house within 30 minutes.
When he assessed the situation, he gave me a firm quote and then proceeded to fix situation quickly. I asked him to install 2 new deadbolts, and he had the perfect ones in his truck. So in less that 2 hours everything was finished — at a really great cost (compared to the other businesses I had talked to earlier) — and he did excellent work.
I uploaded a photo of the work he did — you can see the great new deadbolt he installed — and he also replaced the old lock (below — which I won’t use anymore) with a perfect-​looking aesthetic match for my old fashioned door and handle. Above and beyond the call of duty!
So, I’m a dork, but I have to admit I had a little bit of trouble understanding Jerry on the phone at first, because he has a foreign accent. But after a minute or two, I got it: And there is no question Jerry knows his stuff — he did a great job, he was very efficient and straight-​forward, and fast. A very solid person, a stand-​up guy.

Situated in a humble key-​osk in the Greenwood Market parking lot, this small business ostensibly deals in keymaking. But this is a clever ruse and I’m hear to break their secret:
They deal in magic.
I wandered in to see if I could have an extra key made for a cabinet and the friendly clerk greeted me and asked the number of keys to be made. When I told him one, he smiled and said that it could be done right away. I looked down at my phone for a moment and by the time I looked up, he stood in front of me with a brand new key… as if by magic! I can’t say for sure that it was 15 seconds, it could have been 20, but that’s the fastest I’ve ever seen a key made. And then to top that trick, after paying, he disappeared from sight in a puff of smoke!*
Moments later in my car, it had happened so fast I thought it was just a dream. Until I reached into my pocket and discovered the single golden** key!
*Exaggeration: I believe he actually ducked to get something from behind the register and kicked up some dirt.
**This refers to color only. I’m no metallurgist, but I’d guess that it’s actually composed of aluminum.
