Walking into plus45design is kind of like stumbling upon a fairy circle… it’s completely enchanting, and you want to spend your time in slow admiration. I visited this December for the first time after passing by on other occasions when the shop was closed. The window displays can’t quite convey the exquisite contents of the interior. On this visit, I fell in love with the many terrific textiles, including some crafted from vintage Japanese kimonos, and other luxe French table linens generously marked down. The owner incorporates furnishings like cunningly designed European floor and table lamps, and gorgeous pillows(also on sale when I visited). The selection of jewelry and paper goods was equally enticing. I’m not sure Rob Whitson, the owner, can go wrong with any of his choices. By accident, he forgot to include one of the articles that I purchased, and he shipped it to me and deducted the cost of it from my total purchase by way of apology. The merchandise all seemed extremely reasonably priced, given the quality. Highly recommended for a jaunt in the ID. Preferably followed by some excellent sushi or dim sum.

It’s just awesome here! A well-curated collection of mid-century and contemporary classics, from little gifts to fine furniture. A great place to get fabulous iittalia tableware!

The International District is full of secrets, and this store is among them. You’d never guess that this lofty space full of tasteful post-modern home décor could be found on a corner in this usually Asian neighborhood. I want to furnish my home with everything in here. And it’s a great spot for tiny treasures, too, like the swirly paper mobiles that waft from the ceiling and jewelry from one of my favorite designers, Audrey Daniels. Nice!

While in the International District, don’t miss visiting this new, hip store. The open, airy, well lit space filled with new, modern and bits of ethnic is a designer’s dream. A well curated mélange of art, furniture, creative gifts, books for adults and children, home accessories and hand made jewelry bring warmth to this loft like venue. The black/white flower photo by Rebecca Sullivan on the orange back wall drew me in like a bee to honey. Her large landscapes invited me to walk in. The window display of colorful«cheep shelters»(egg shaped bird houses made of felted wool) made me want to tweet all of my friends. If you’re not a DIY person, take advantage of the owner, Rob’s design services and exquisite, discerning eye.
