This café is minimalist and that’s part of it’s charm. The options aren’t extensive, but the coffee is good and that’s what counts! The owner and employees are friendly and greet you when you arrive and ask how your day is(which, if you’re familiar with Seattle coffee shops, is not always the case!). The coffee I order is always great(yay Herkimer!) I work down the street and am a frequent visitor to Porchlight! I haven’t been there for the records so I have no comments there!

Great place to work cause they have many plug-ins enough for all the tables! However the coffee is only OK. Environment: They have about 6 tables and one 3 people size couch. One table outside with 4 seats. You can see lots of plug-ins on walls and on the ground which is very convenient. Tables are very spaced out and all are single tables(only for 2 – 3 people). There’s an area with records CDs you can buy. They play light jazz music inside. Internet: Free secured Wi-Fi and password on each table so you don’t need to ask for it! Coffee: I ordered Latte(total with tax $ 4.05) and it the foam is not thick enough, was steamed with high temp and a short time so it’s to loose and thin. The taste of it is good and strong enough, but it doesn’t match the latte cause lack of milk. I would come again to work and spend a afternoon here. Maybe order a mocha or tea instead of latte tho. Such a casual and cozy tiny place to stay in! Recommended.

Sooooooooper cute coffee shop. Good place to do work; plenty of plugs for your computer along the wall. Best if you’re alone if you’re bringing your computer, as all the tables are small and accommodate only 1 or 2 people. Good coffee, records for sale, and awesome Cold Brew. Only reason for the 4 star is because they don’t have many milk options. I can’t have dairy, soy or almond, which are the options they offer. Most places in Seattle have rice, coconut, or hemp milk these days so it would be nice if they had something else, since the milks they do have are among the most common allergens. Keep doing your thang, Porchlight!

Out of 5 stars, I subtracted two stars for quite rude attitude from the young guy working behind the counter(asked him for the restroom number, he doesn’t even look at me, looks at the wall and tells me). I subtracted another star for having gone there for RECORDS only to see like~ 150 or so records with 80 to 90% of the groups/artists I have never even heard of and their«used» selection is so OVER priced,… I must say though COFFEE was good and that was basically it other than the seating of the chair was pretty nice although their sound system is quite poor. I just can’t seem to understand how so many people gave 5 stars??? I do wish for gay establishment to succeed but when there’s a «good looking» but rude guy taking orders then this shop probably won’t last very long unfortunately…

Love the cold brew, the relaxing environment… and the vinyls. Locals come and hang out in a small seating section. Generally, it’s pretty quiet and laid back.

My absolute favorite coffee place in the area. Delicious coffee, incredibly awesome staff, and a chill environment to stop and enjoy a dose of caffeine.

Probably the best place in the history of the world. Like, I wouldn’t even bother going anywhere in Seattle after you visit Porchlight because it’s all down hill from there, literally. Buy some records. And a donut. Hang out but be nice.

Decent coffee, great mix of music. Nice space if a bit sparse and small. Not much on the menu other than a few coffee drinks and a minimal selection of beers

Bright, inviting and nice décor plus their coffee is great. Would go out of my way to visit! I also liked the cute mugs and other smaller items for sale in addition to records.

A good latte is hard to make, but this place definitely makes some excellent lattes! A lovely little shop to sit, do some work, relax and enjoy the day. Recommend!

The coffee is good, among the best in Seattle, but the baristas really aren’t friendly. I’ve stopped going because I don’t feel welcome.

Buy a record. Sip some coffee. Life isn’t as complicated as you’re making it so chill at Porchlight. The environment demands it.

Comfortable, if a bit sparsely furnished. Great coffee. The vinyl selection was small and eclectic.

I almost walked out when I thought I saw Justin Bieber but realized that it was just a lookalike. Phew! Great neighborhood coffee place. Mellow but fun and not uptight atmosphere. The coffee smelled fabulous but I’d already had my limit for the day and decided to get something new from their great tea selection.

Because Seattle doesn’t have enough coffee. Porchlight has the typical menu, pastries and hipster barista. However, they offer a quaint little environment with a table full of records, few tables and some unique décor. Located right on the corner of 14th and Madison, this place is great for Capitol Hill peeps who want to get away from the louder and more mainstream coffee shops. However if you’re driving, there’s 2 hr street parking around the area. Porchlight reminds me a bit of Tougo Coffee, but Porchlight’s internet is better.

Awesome coffee, friendly and knowledgeable baristas, and an overall great place to sit and chat or do a bit of work. The music selection is always different and isn’t ever too loud. I haven’t tried their pastries, but they serve a nice variety of Mighty-O’s doughnuts everyday. Great for people like me with a Mighty-O’s obsession that don’t live near Tangletown. In sum: great coffee, good service, nice people(baristas and clientele), laid back environment(i.e. no pretentiousness), and free wifi. Highly recommend!
