Pottery Barn

So disappointed with the service! The brand is suppose to be reputable! I called and placed an order over the phone. The girl that helped me messed up my address, phone number and never send me an order number. When I called the manager, Gillian, she gave me the run-​around for 3+ weeks! Each time she said she’d call or email back but never did. I finally found the order through the customer service center and it took 4 months to receive our furniture. No one even apologized. We will not be buying furniture from pottery barn anymore, which is unfortunate since we have a new house to fill. They won’t be making more $ off us. Disappointing.

There’s so much cute décor here but the customer service wasn’t that great. You’d think that for their prices, the service would be better. I saw a couple items that I was interested in that didn’t have a price, but no one was around when I wanted to ask. All well~

Maybe it’s the busy holiday season or the hiring of new seasonal associates, but I’m sad to say this PB is just not what it used to be. I spent about a half hour in the store again yesterday looking at dining room chairs and checking out all the new Christmas decorations. The store really is beautiful, well decorated and clean! But it was incredible how hard it was to get some help!
The store was busy, yes, but there seemed to be enough staff as there was no line at the register and some where just walking around straightening and tidying up displays. I thought it was odd walking in on the bedroom and bath side that there were groups of 2 – 3 people chatting away about their weekend plans. None greeted me or the other customers that came in around the same time. And frankly if it wasn’t for them wearing name badges, I wouldn’t have even known they were employees.
The living room and kitchen side wasn’t much better. I’m looking at dining chairs, I’m trying them out and measuring so I have time to sit for a moment and notice what’s going on around me. I don’t know if they were preparing for a walk through from corporate or something — but the employees, including the store supervisor, just kept walking right by on their way to straighten up the displays or ask the supervisor about scheduling. Sure I got a few head nods of acknowledgement but only one employee bothered to verbally greet me and ask if I had any questions, Mithra.
Mithra was wonderful! The rest of the store should shadow her for the day and take notes! She didn’t wait for me to flag her down. She saw that I was struggling and came right over. I was looking for the measurements tag on some chairs and she directed me to right place quickly. She made an effort to ask about my project and gave a few helpful suggestions and things for me to consider — especially since the chairs I liked the best would likely need to be special ordered this time of year and will take time. Mithra was very kind, courteous and attentive. If I do decide to venture back to the University Village Pottery Barn store — I will ask for Mithra for sure!
I love the comfortable and cozy look of Pottery Barn décor and furniture but I didn’t like feeling like I would be bothering the associates if I had a question. I wish I could say this was just an off day — but it seems to be the usual for this location the couple times I’ve been here recently. The experience of Mithra providing great customer service and actually helping me being the only exception barring me from making this a one star review.

Excellent customer service. We were given the wrong merchandise by accident, and when we went back, they gave us the correct merchandise and provided a discount for the time it took to drive back, etc. Matt and Mitra were very helpful, and we were very impressed with their willingness to go out of their way to provide us excellent customer service.

All I wanted were fabric swatches, which are free. The first employee I spoke with, Kelly, was lovely. Thank you, Kelly!
Everyone else couldn’t help me or acted like I was asking a lot. I went through the books of fabric and folded the ones I wanted swatches of. The woman who finally got the the fabric swatches huffed and puffed about how many I wanted (I think it was a total of 12) and then failed to write down all of them because she kept ignoring some of the swatches. Then, they didn’t have a bunch of the ones I wanted. When I asked about one of the swatches, she said «I gave it to you!» And I replied,“no you didn’t.” And then she made me show her the ones I had before giving it to me.
When I asked about sunbrella fabrics, she swore up and down that they didn’t have any in the store, which they did. I finally was able to ask Kelly about it and they do, in fact, have a swatches book.
The whole experience sucked and it was just bizarre to be treated like a huge annoyance at a store that sells such fuck-​off expensive stuff. Ugh! *hands thrown into the air*

Avoid ordering furniture. We ordered a sectional 2 months ago and it was supposed to be delivered today. They never showed up and I Ended up calling them to find out that the piece was sent damaged to the delivery company. Spent hours talking to the customer service and then called the U village store to get them reorder my piece. The sales person wouldn’t re-​order it and said they will send it out to be fixed. I said no I paid for a perfect piece and that shouldn’t have to settle for a repaired piece. Anyway, long story short I cancelled the order because she wouldn’t reorder.
Also, asked for a store manager and the sales person said she will have her call me. Then she called again and said the manager went home for the day. This is 3 pm mind you, on a Saturday! Really? No store manager in the store? I don’t buy that. What a waste time.

With all do respect to this company and their amazing products but their service is really bad. I am not reviewing here the products or pottery barn itself; i am actually reviewing the service in this particular store. You come and pay a lot of money here and the least you expect is a decent service, i am not looking for fake smiles, but at least when i talk to some of the staff there i expect some eye contact.
It is not a one time thing, usually i hesitate to give bad reviews because i know how much it harms the business and the staff, but i am honestly fed up with going there and not being treated nicely. One time i went there around the holidays, and i expected some frowns from the staff and all that, i understand they are under a lot of pressure, but the other day i went to the store early in the morning after it just opened and oh my goodness, whoever his name was, was completely rude. I felt like i am begging for some money on the streets and he was talking to me like i am of a lower class than him… Oh please you WORK at pottery barns and I shop there, so the least thing i expect is a smile or a decent reply to my questions.
Honestly as much as i love their products, i really feel uncomfortable walking to this store. Maybe i am better off shopping online for their stuff, than having to go there and feel like i am a 2^nd rate citizen. No thank you.

Well Pottery Barn is a fancy furniture store. It reminds me of the episode of Friends where Phoebe wants to buy stuff from flea markets and ends up succumbing to Pottery Barn. PB basically sells new stuff that looks old. and fancy

Nice stuff in the kids section, and not too pricey on sale

So today a client in this store said she was trying to coordinate a piece from Pottery Barn with some other things in the room that didn’t come from there. The saleswoman, showing a deft self-​awareness too often lacking in high-​end retail, said «that sounds like it will work really well. After all, you don’t want it to just look like you have a Pottery Barn in your house.»
This sort of good-​natured conviviality used to be the hallmark of fine retail shopping, but the commercial arena has seen the hard sell and the coordinated brand gradually encroach on the territory of the charming conversation. The relaxed confidence of the staff at this Pottery Barn were a refreshing change of pace.
I wasn’t actually shopping for my own place, but I still ended up asking more than half the questions, and talked to at least four salespeople in the process. Bit of a lull when we were there, I guess. They were all really nice! I realize this shouldn’t be news at a nice store, but I seriously walk into places like this expecting to have to grit my teeth and just gut it out until the receipts are signed. I personally can’t fathom paying premium prices for furniture like this that’s just a paragon of mindless good taste, but the stuff is well-​enough made and will probably last until you forget what you paid for it, maybe longer. And if your tastes run toward the safe harbors of conventionality, well, you drop your anchor right here in Pottery Barn and kick those top-​siders belowdecks. You’re home.

Hmmm… I’m pretty sure people don’t shop here unless they’re buying something off a registry. It’s all crazy expensive and there’s nothing here that you can’t find cheaper and cooler somewhere else.
It reminds me of a store my grandma would like if she had a million dollars. Oh grandma…

Speaking of completely useless things in teh U Village…
Have I ever been in a Pottery Barn before? I’m not sure.
Will I ever enter one ever again? I seriously doubt it.
What I do know is that this place makes Crate and Barrel (which I visited shortly before the Pottery Barn — go ahead and read my review on THAT) looks like the most wondrous place on earth.
PB makes C&B look so inexpensive and super practical!

Pottery Barn gets two stars for not saying anything when we plopped onto one of the couches for a few minutes (although we did get a LOOK) and for the fact that it smelled really good in there.
Otherwise, they can suck it.

Okay, I know I am totally biased but I resent this store because I use to work here. The management is awful! I’ve had a variety of odd jobs and I’d much rather stand out in the cold as a parking greeter (in U-​village) than stand in this store! My manager, Jessica is very ineffective, cold, and just plain dumb. Needless to say, many angry customers have filed complaints against her.
Other than that, the service the sales associates provide to customers is awesome. The management is another story, as they believe they are far superior to anyone else.
