Having Alan as our DJ and MC was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding celebration!
We met Alan was at a tasting done at Ray’s Boathouse (the venue we had selected for our Wedding celebration) and signed up with him on the spot. We had been looking for someone to tie everything together and it was clear just from talking with him, that Alan has exceptional skill, diverse experience and the ability to communicate proficiently. We needed someone to bring people together who are from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. So, after talking with Alan just two minutes, we realized that he was our guy.

Working with Alan was a dream. He was full of amazing ideas to keep the crowd engaged, while simultaneously being attentive and open to our ideas, facilitating both planning and execution seamlessly and flawlessly. He asked us what we wanted our of our event, and after we went over everything, he helped us choose the right order, timing, and brought in his experience to work out all the logistics.
Alan was self-​directed and considerate of our time. Both my husband and I have hectic schedules, as we both work full times jobs, so the fact that Alan could take the essence of what we wanted and weave it together himself helped us tremendously. We only had to meet twice, once in person, to go discuss the timeline and vision for the event and the next time over the phone to review plans and finalize details. Along the way he was responsive over email and we felt assured that everything was going to come together smoothly.
He spent just the right amount figuring out our timeline for the evening and did a fabulous job culling our long playlist, while at the same time making sure to include the songs that were most important to us. He was even able to scrub the Josh Krajcik version of At Last for our first dance.
Alan had a couple of suggestions for how to make the event fun including two games that were interactive and especially engaging for our guests. Every step of the way, Alan infused his wit, humor and spunk into the occasion and many guests spoke highly of his service saying that he really added to the celebration and that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Every song was perfectly timed and we ended up dancing all night along with many of our guests. Alan was even able to get all the Hindi songs that I had requested for the Indian guests who thoroughly enjoyed themselves dancing!
We highly recommend Alan without reservation!

5+++ Stars! Working with Alan from the Puget Sound DJ is by far one of the best decisions we made for our wedding this past weekend!
Even in the beginning of our communications, Alan was always very prompt in answering our questions or concerns (we always heard back from him within 12 hours of sending him an e-​mail, most of the time even earlier than that!). When we first had our initial meeting with Alan to discuss roughly what we would like for our wedding, we knew we found the right person. Alan is very knowledgeable in not only the different types of music but also how the wedding events flow. He’s really the best with not just as a dj playing your favorite type of music but also as an mc who can make your event a memorable one (in a good way!).
On the day of our wedding, Alan even worked directly with our officiant and our venue person to make sure that our ceremony and reception went as smoothly as possible. In addition to that, he also made sure to work with our photographers so that they could help capture the moments for us with the best possible lighting.
What I love most about Alan was his genuine care about how he could make the event a memorable one for both us and our guests. Even several days before our wedding, Alan voluntarily called us to check up on the details and even offered to bring additional lights and an outdoor speaker that could help improve the ambiance. We were so thankful for his kindness. There were also soooo many aspects and details of our wedding event that, if it wasn’t because of Alan’s suggestions and perfect facilitation, the event wouldn’t have turned out as well as it did.
We HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend Alan! He was definitely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding event and we were extremely happy with how the event turned out. Even my friend who happened to be planning a wedding elsewhere for her sister loved what Alan did and plans on incorporating the details that Alan suggested in her sister’s destination wedding. If you wanted somebody who not only plays good music but also cares about how to make your event the best that it can be, pick Puget Sound DJ! Alan and Puget Sound DJ did a fantastic job as the DJ for our rehearsal dinner and wedding in Seattle! We had a baseball-​themed wedding, which took place at Safeco Field, and Alan was the perfect fit for this event. His passion for baseball, professionalism as a highly trained DJ, and flexibility with our complicated logistical requirements, really helped to improve the quality of our event, and he was a joy to work with. There are a lot of DJs in the Seattle area who care more about their paycheck than about their customers, and Alan was the exact opposite. He cared about us first, which is hard to find in the wedding vendor community.

I cannot recommend Alan’s services enough. He is a consummate professional who is client-​centered and cares about your event’s success. I interviewed a ton of DJs, all of whom were high pressure and high priced — at times, I felt like I was dealing with car salespeople. Our experience with Alan was a very welcome departure from that experience. Prior to our booking, Alan did an extensive phone consult with me. Later, my husband and I met with Alan and knew instantly that we had found our DJ. He knows his craft and it showed in that first meeting.
In our experience, Alan goes above and beyond to make your day complete. After a major storm prevented my maid of honor from making the wedding, he worked tirelessly to come up with a solution to make her present virtually, and he was a truly comforting presence in a hectic time. I was both surprised and overjoyed to walk into my reception and see my best friend on an iPad and a projector as they tested out the technology. Later in the evening, my MoH was able to give her toast from 3,000 miles away (even if the venue’s wireless was spotty at times). Without Alan’s hard work and dedication to his clients, none of that would have been possible — I will truly remember that experience forever.
As far as the music at the wedding proper is concerned, my guests were really pleased with the music selections throughout the night. We gave him a roadmap of music we liked, and he read the room accordingly. His suggestions for what we should do throughout the night such as choosing a song to close the evening or play the Shoe Game were on-​point and very well received. My husband and I danced virtually all night and had a blast.
Alan treats his clients as friends and, by extension, will certainly work hard to make your event a success. Between the rain and the missing bridal party, our event could have been a disaster. Thanks to Alan and our other vendors, it was perfect!

If all started when we engaged with Alan in the beginning. We had exchange a couple of emails and decided to interview him for the DJ role in our wedding. The first few weeks he was completely unresponsive and we were looking at other people but then he contacted us back and apologized promising that he would make it up to us — that should have been our first clue. We talked, he seemed nice and we decided to go with him. That turned out to be the worst decision of our wedding planning.
We hired Alan for our wedding that happened a couple of weeks ago.
We had started planning the day of the wedding about 5 or 6 months ahead of time, staying in touch and going over the plan and what we wanted to do.
The day before the wedding we had gone over the final plan and had all agreed on it and thought that everything was on track. Suffice to say that the day of the wedding Alan didn’t follow the schedule and the plan and the performance was very disappointing.
First of all, we had a agreed that he would place a mic on me and the officiant. The day of, I realized that he hadn’t mic’d me yet and I called him over right before and asked him to add a mic, he said no need everything is under control. We walk down the aisle and the time for the vows is there, there is a lot of static and no one could hear neither my vows nor my wife’s. Everyone who talked to me about it was disappointed because the sound was not clear and not loud enough. Right after the ceremony, Alan comes to me and apologizes but the damage is done.
The second strike was when Alan informs me that he would like to play a video we had prepared before the grand entrance. This was another surprise as the video was supposed to be played after the entrance and was on the schedule this way. I had to go and deal with this firedrill in the middle of the wedding which is definitely not a fun thing given the amount of stress you accumulate on the wedding day.
The third strike is that we had asked if people wanted to toast or not and a couple of our close friends. They informed us the second day that they had signed up for a toast but that Alan had completely skipped them and they never got to speak. He also had forgotten about the bridesmaid (even though it was on the schedule) and only after my mother in law went and talked to him to remind him did he call the bridesmaid to make her speech.
The last strike was that the music was really bad and the DJing part was less than amateurish. We had chosen a full set of playlist, I was going back and forth with Alan on raising the volume and during the «Dance» part the music volume and quality was so bad that we could hear people talk… He also was replaying the same songs over and over again, and had lots of difficulties with Virtual DJ.
All in all, if you want to deal with less issues and less risk at your wedding and really want to make sure that the DJ and MC part goes well, I would NOT recommend Alan at all. Despite the fact that he seems like a nice guy, he comes off as inexperienced and the equipment he has didn’t seem good at all.

Below is a detailed review that my hubby and I wrote for Alan:
«Alan was highly recommended from our photographer, Lucas Mobley. We needed someone who would come in a do a great job and do most of the heavy lifting in terms of song selection and setup, etc. We first met with Alan and instantly got along. He’s very easy going and listens closely to what matters to us. He was able to work independently and give suggestions along the way. Also his DJ style was such that he wants to keep the flow of the party and listen and adjust to things as they happen. He told us this when we met him but it wasn’t till the actual event where we actually came to appreciate this.
Everything that he promised us (setting up, having a mic, lights, song selections, queuing, introductions) happened without us knowing. Once the plan was in place (which he created about 95% of the way, the few details from us were needed) he executed it flawlessly such that we had one less thing to worry about on our big day.
He most certainly was committed. The week before he consulted with us a second time to find out exactly what songs we wanted for the key parts. We had enough control in the areas we wanted control. In the areas that we had no preference, he filled in the gaps to make the night completely seamless. Also, the great part about Alan is that he doesn’t nickel and dime you for every extra piece. He charges a flat rate which means he’s there from start to finish without any question about extra money or time. He’s there for you and committed to the event.
He knows the basic elements of an American, Jewish, and Asian wedding. This is not an easy task. He was able to suggest certain things that we might want to do in the night like mother/​son dance, bouquet toss, cake cutting, introductions, etc, etc. We really had no idea of how we wanted the night to flow and Alan came in and suggested different parts, the ordering of each, and really became the glue for everything to fit together.
The comparison I have is that, we went to a wedding a few months after ours. One song was playing and everyone was up and dancing. The very next song was this old crusty old song that made everyone stop moving, even the 88 year old grandpa! THIS WAS NOT ALAN.
Alan in contrast was professional in the sense that he has the experience to know how to monitor the guests and keep the sound moving in a way that keeps people flowing. On the equipment side, he has his own sound system, mixer, laptop, mic, etc and it was of great quality. The people in the back had no problems hearing. Alan came dressed in a suit and bow tie and acted professionally the entire time. After questioning us and finding out our interests, he was able to find the music that we enjoyed and that fit with our personality. Timing and volume were great.
As an MC, he stayed out of the way for as much as possible since, according to him, each time the MC speaks it’s an interruption to the party. So he treated that responsibility with great respect and only spoke when necessary. He also did intros for the wedding party. His delivery was spot on and made the commentary very enjoyable to listen to.
HIRE HIM! The amount of work he put in for us in such a short time was phenomenal. And the fact that he made the night seamless for our guests is something we could never have done without him.»

Alan is absolutely phenomenal at what he does! He is absolutely in love with his career and will do whatever he can to help his customers. He was involved in every inch of our wedding planning and checking in very often-​such a FRIEND. He offered books and material to help ease our planning and offered to help where he could. We had a lot of meetings where we all met at my parents house. He was very concerned about meeting the needs of every one of my family members, and of course the needs of me and my husband. The night of the wedding was kind of all over the place and unforunately everyone left really early (Mothers day, and Sunday night) and so only a few songs were played) I was really upset about that-​but it was not his fault and he did fantastic!

Alan is a very nice guy and i understand that in the lead up to our wedding he was dealing with some family health issues. That being said we weren’t impressed with his DJing and communications leading in.
He didn’t seem prepared for the space issues/​limitations, our entrance and despite assurances that we wouldn’t be «bothered» during the reception, we had to follow up and make choices on the evening that really should have been addressed by scouting or planning on Alans part.
So i’d go with he was passable but if we had to do it again likely would just use an iPod.
