Guys. I love you so much. But your DJ tonight on 1⁄30 sucks. Too much techno. Not enough pop and music to get down to. You guys are great every other night. I suggest you lose this guy.

Strong drinks and good company equals a fun night I only kind of remember. Good music but suuuuper busy on the weekends. Lost my friends and had a small panic moment on a Saturday night as I went upstairs and around the bar floor attempting to find them while squishing myself between people standing butt to butt… But its cap hill. What do you expect? No need to find parking — there’s always plenty of lyft and über drivers in the area. Also, the upstairs can get stiflingly hot, but when you’re already plastered, who cares?

This is a fun place to chill with friends, have a couple of drinks, and watch music videos. Definitely a great place to catch up before having a night on the town.

We are Phoenicians visiting from Arizona and stopped in this lounge to recover after walking forty minutes out of the way. The kitty cat symbol is what snagged our attention and the music/videos kept is there for an hour. The staff were all attractive, friendly and accomidating. Rusty, a gruff looking but sweet man was our bartender and he was absolutely fabulous. We didn’t want to leave but it being our first time in town, we wanted to see what else there was to explore. My man listed this as his favorite bar in the city.

Purr cocktail lounge is also known S&M bar. And by S&M I mean stand and model because the crowd is generally very attractive and dressed very nicely. The bar staff in particular Robby is amazing and will treat you with kindness and I will be willing to oblige any special requests someone may have for a cocktail. Barbie the owner is amazing, annd gives back to the community in spades & I thank her very much for that. When you go to the door make sure that you have your s*** together because Travis, and the rest of the fabulous security staff, make sure that everyone has a safe fun and legal night. The only caveat to this part is that it seems like there’s a lot of bachelorette parties that happen at Purr, that either start or end at this establishment. Which can make for a messy floor covered and liquor and trash, but the staff takes extra pride in making sure that all it’s clientele is welcomed, and that the regulars are treated with respect! Kudos to the entire bar staff & Barbie you are doing a great job!

First impressions are not always correct. After my initial experience in September 2014, follow-up visits have been far superior. This place plays great music and draws a fun crowd. The upstairs section has comfortable seating and is a bit more intimate. Bartender Brandon is a sweet guy who makes a mean cocktail! :)

Excellent drinks, cute bartenders, and strong pours! Came here for a nightcap and was not disappointed. Also it is the perfect locale for people watching. Lovely patio seating with curio stores in one direction and Molly Moon’s in the other make this a prime location. I’ve been to the other establishments around here before but now I will make sure to stop in here when I’m in Cap Hill.

Very stiff drinks, the catchiest dance tunes and music videos, and no cover charge. This is why I’ve had many, many fun nights at Purr. If you like all of the above plus all the cute gay boys, you will have many, many fun nights at Purr, too. You might have to wait in line if you come late on the weekends. My friends and I almost never have this problem, though, because this is where we usually go to start our dancing escapades before migrating over to The Cuff, so we get there right around 10. But yes, it does get PACKED. As in you can’t walk anywhere without bumping into another person’s shoulder. There is another lounge upstairs that only a few people might know about. It’s a lot more quiet and laid-back, so if you feel like just sitting around and socializing without having to yell, that upstairs space is great for you. They’re serious about preventing underage drinking in the premises, so expect to have your ID scrutinized by the bouncer out front. He’s really personable, though. He just likes to do his job.

We showed up on a Sunday night late, so it was pretty dead. The waitstaff were still friendly though and we had a good visit with them. I did enjoy the music and there is a lot of room to spread out here. *Order at the bar, no table service at least when we were there. *Good music & videos playing

This place is OK overall. I do love the service and attention at the bar. The bartenders are great people and very friendly. The Karaōke which I found myself there for was very clicky on clientele and kind of sassy. The space and architecture of the place feels crowded even without people. The cleanliness felt a but divey and uninviting. I am thinking this place is good if you bring your own group of people. Other than that, it feels like high school groupings and clicks. The drinks are the standard pricing and pours for the Seattle location. Nothing extra special.

My neighborhood gay bar to go! Love my bartenders. Music video bar for me to catch up what I’ve been missing for the past few months. I miss the Monday $ 6 burger /beer specials. Did I just hear that they stopped their extensive main menu, but still offer fried options. That’s ok! However, you can order takeout and have it delivered! Is that too good to be true??? Ask your bartender to ensure. Can’t wait to try ordering in take out!

Where to start. The owner is a gadfly that has endeared herself to the gay community under the guise of sobriety, unity, fairness and equality. Don’t let that fool you as there is unbridled nepotism here which favors the surly staff and chosen underlings of her inner circle. Her staff is rude and nasty yet shielded by her. Purr’s motto is «The customer is wrong, my staff is right…» The owner also protects a certain staff member who is a known bully/troublemaker around the Seattle area(fired from most gay bars in Seattle.) Yet after much turmoil this person remains under her employ spreading friction and bullying long time patrons. By allowing this employee to stomp around in «her house» she emboldens and promotes bad behavior. There have been many complaints about this employee and instead of supporting long time patrons and the community, she sides with the divisive bully with a demonstrated track record of conflict all over the city. Go figure. The owner even admitted to me that she knows the employee holds grudges, creates false narratives and has a history of meltdowns. All this is overlooked because according to owner, she«makes a lot of money» from her relationship from this employee. Ironic since she has presented herself to the Capitol Hill community as an «ally» with a credo of «live and let live» and«we’re all on the same team.» Hogwash. The bottom line IS the bottom line for this proprietor. Don’t let the«community» and«family» bologna fool you. My advice? For out of towners, if you want to get a taste of alternative lifestyles in Seattle, get a week pass to Gold’s Gym on Broadway or 24 Hour Fitness downtown. Or grab a seat at Vivace Coffee on Broadway and watch the world stroll by… There are also umpteen bars on the hill now with many to choose from. Try The Cuff, Diesel or Pony. For local Seattleites, this bar and the phony façade are fooling no one. Ever since the Pike/Pine Corridor bar scene exploded, Purr is no longer without competition. Pity the poor business person who fails to see this and show disregard for longtime loyal patrons. Until owner cleans«her house» of hateful employees, Ive sworn off the place(as have a lot of people I know) and will not patronize. I like The Cuff, Diesel, Pony, Lost Lake, Barrio, La Spiga. All are within walking distance and are full of gay people minus the nepotism, bullying and hate.

Terrible place to «see and be seen». The Mean Girls are out in full force at this place. The drinks are predictably strong, but service is(as is the case in most gay bars in Seattle) lacking. Elitism is definitely the word of the day. The crowd that gathers here is also predictably judgmental. It appears one has to play the gossip game in order to fit in here in Seattle. With friends like the people at Purr, who needs enemies? I really think Seattle could take a note from real cities like San Francisco or New York. The communities and bars there are inclusive, welcoming and safe. Walking into a place like Purr you kind of feel like you’re lip syncing for your life-over a pit of cobras.

Welcome to Purr, the place where your otherwise entertaining night goes to die. Purr is a gay bar that is gunning to be the biggest cliché in the Capitol Hill area. At the same time it fails to be a satisfactory bar in general. When you enter you are greeted by a disgruntled bouncer smelling of garlic and old cheese who snatches your ID without a word. After several minutes of scrutiny he deems you worthy of entering. Once you are inside you realize this place is shockingly small and it’s only draw is that they play Lady Gaga and Beyoncé music videos over and over on the TVs that decorate the various walls. Thanks for pigeonholing an entire demographic. Obviously all gay people love Lady Gaga, right? The drinks are overpriced and weak. Expect to pay $ 10+ for a bottom shelf vodka drink. The bartenders seem to loathe everyone and themselves. I don’t recommend this bar regardless of your orientation.

This bar deserves 0 stars. I have never felt so embarrassed and disrespected by a bartender. I went in with my boyfriend and another friend for one drink. The sign on the door read specifically that the bar closes at 2. Last call was around 1:45, fine. We were finishing up our drinks and at 1:48, a bartender came over to us and snatched the unfinished drinks out of our hands like a huge ass and told us to leave. My friend even said, «there are 12 minutes.» And the bartender didn’t say anything. They did this to everyone who was still there just before 2, which is when they are supposed to close. So unprofessional, rude, and downright disgusting. We paid as patrons for the drinks that the bartender ripped from our hands. I will never ever go back and I will make a point of dissuading everyone I have a conversation with NOT to ever go to Purr. I hope the place goes out of business.

I was waiting for a server at Purr cocktail bar, — With friends, it’s true. I picked a drink, they mixed it up, and turned it around, — Made one for my buddies too. Two minutes later on, we snagged us a seat, — The couches, they looked pretty new. But don’t forget, it’s all about the experience, — And they get a pretty good review. Purr. — You can booze me. I liked the atmosphere, and prices weren’t too crazy. Purr. — You can booze me. The staffers were anything but lazy. So if it’s late and find, You’ve got cocktails on your mind? You better stop by here ’cause you won’t be sorry. Purr, I want you, baby. Purr, I want you, ohhhhhhhhhh. Purr, I want you, baby. Purr, I want you, ohhhhhhhhhh…

Purr is almost PURRFECT. They have fried pickles. I can go ahead and let that speak for itself, or I can tell you that you pretty much HAVE to buy a double if you’re buying a well drink, but it’s 7 bucks and it will take good care of you. I went earlier on a Saturday night, but according to my regular patron friend, it gets pretty wild around 11pm. I was easily able to find a bench or couch seat. They cover their chairs in zebra print fabric, which is cute. You’d think they’d use leopard or cheetah to go with the pussy theme, but who am I to judge?
