You have more than enough for 2 hungry people with any entrée, which is $ 12 – 15 at least for the meat ones. Very affordable and delicious flavors. We got the Lamb Tibbs. Lamb was tough, so 1 star taken away for that. Buy the value was great. Not sure if this dish is always tough or not.

We ordered a veggie combo and beef tibs. The food was good, but slightly bland for my taste. No complaints. They have gluten-free injera.

This is the best Ethiopian food in Seattle. I mean, I guess I have to write more than that, but I can’t think of anything else to say. Incredible flavour and value. Their fosolia makes me dance and squirm in my chair. I pretty much always get the veggie combo and this one is my favourite one. Did I mention the fosolia? The service is friendly and I like the setup too. I’m sad I don’t live walking distance anymore, but I would definitely come out of my way to eat here.

My favorite Ethiopian place. Really really good veggie food! Recommended by an Ethiopian gentleman on the street who found me staring sadly in the window of the newly closed Fasika Ethiopian restaurant in Columbia City, wondering where to go to eat. He said, «Oh you like Ethiopian food, you should go to Ras Dashen.» So I did, and he was right! I recommend the same to you!

I’d looked before to no avail for somewhere in Seattle that has gluten free injera, so I was really excited to see this listing tonight looking for GF food near my neighborhood. We got the meat combo and it was absolutely incredible … I didn’t have a favorite item, and completely enjoyed everything on the plate. The injera was incredible … it’s been a few years of gluten free-dom since my last injera, but this was even better than I remembered it. Two of us couldn’t quite finish the combo… the portions of one combo were perfect for sharing between two hungry people. Service was leisurely but very friendly and warm, and the totally 80s music was part of the fun. We’ll definitely visit again… best Ethiopian I’ve had in Seattle(and gluten-free friendly to boot)!

Visited Ras Dashen on a Sunday after church. We called ahead of time to place our orders,(Veggie Combo & Kitfo) since we had a baby with us. The employee told us that wouldn’t be allowed because they were busy and there were others before us; which makes perfect sense, but we did mention to her that we would be there in an hour, she complied and said she would put our order in. Upon our arrival there were no more than three tables occupied(busy, huh?) The same lady who answered my call greeted us and told us to sit wherever we pleased. I’m assuming she realized that it was us who placed the phone order because she didn’t hand us menus or come to our table until about 15 minutes after we sat down. After another 35 minutes, the food arrived. She obviously didn’t placed our orders in. oh well. The food was great, many different veggie dishes. We ordered the kitfo well done only because our server told us that we couldn’t order half raw, half cooked kitfo. I was kind of shock because many Ethiopian restaurants including the one my mother owns ALLOW that– because its not at all a crazy/over the top demand. However, I must say that the kitfo was extremely spicy, even for an Ethiopian. Overall, the food was good, ambiance was pretty chill, the decorations took me back home. The service, or lack therefore, was slow and could use major improvement.

Delicious food, wonderful service, and great value! Despite the outside appearance of the place, the interior is pristine and very well kept! Highly recommended for authentic and amazing Ethiopian food!

I LOVE Ras Dashen! This is my go-to place for takeout, but I also enjoy dining in when I have the time. Their veggie combo platter is the best on the street(and that is saying a lot because there are 5 other Ethiopian restaraunts within 2 blocks) and they have gluten free injeera upon request. Yum!

Visiting a friend in Seattle has never tasted so good. Luckily, she lives within walking distance so I could walk off the twenty pounds of food I had just consumed(maybe that’s an exaggeration). Ras Dashen is lovely to dine in at – not sure what incense they are burning but it smells really good. My friend and I split the veggie platter, which at $ 9 each shared(plus an extra $ 4 for GF injera) is a total steal. We both had more than enough food, and it was all delicious. Definitely the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had!

Since the abrupt closure of Habesha we’ve sought a new favorite Ethiopian place, a quest wrought with disappointment. Until today. The veggie combo here is flavorful, cooked just right, with good texture. Not a fan of the okra, but I never am. The injera is soft, fresh, and brown. The veg combo ordered for two could easily feed three — very generous portions. Anthony-bob sez check it out.

I have eaten at each of the Ethiopian restaurants in the Cherry/MLK area, and Ras Dashen is by far my favorite of them all. The spice combinations are amazing, and the portions generous. My go-to menu item is the veggie combo. It’s a healthy and filling selection, and I can make at least 2 – 3 meals from it(which comes in handy during these financially tight times). I usually place to-go orders, and have had exceptional service whether dining in or taking out. Closed on Mondays, which makes me sad, so I usually place an order for Sunday dinner.

I’ve been to a few of the Ethiopian restaurants around this area, and this ranks as the best! We were there on a Saturday night, and there was no one else there.(Why??!) I’ve also eaten here on a weekday night, and it was also nearly empty. The Ethiopian music playing was a bit loud but very catchy! I couldn’t help but bob my head as I ate(much to the disdain of my dinner mate). There are lots of choices for vegetarians. We ordered the veggie combo and the shiro wat. The food was well spiced(especially the shiro wat!) and, even though it’s an Ethiopian faux pas, I couldn’t help but lick my fingers a few times. The greens and salad were fresh and had a firm, crisp texture which went well with the injera. Service was attentive(after all, we were the only ones there), and the man helping us had some good tips as to where to go for Ethiopian Christmas in Ethiopia when we visit. We’ll definitely be back!

This place is fantastic! Great price, great food and not super spicy so it’s perfect for those of us foodies :) If you are a vegetarian… You should be all over Ethiopian food. Many yummi options as well.

The flavor profile on the sauces is there. The ‘doro waT’ was tasty. But this place, like most Ethiopian eateries in town, is handicapped by the lack of modern nuanced cooking skills. For example my favorite food, the ‘dulet’, a mixture of sautéed onion, jalapeño, and lamb meats including, red meat, liver, and tripe is so bitter because they put gall in it.(BTW-the bible mentions that Christ was given a cheap wine laced with gall before he was crucified) Another handicap is the beef and lamb portions they use are not routinely tender enough to be swallowed; taking the liberty of chewing and then taking it out of your mouth is annoying. It is generally safe to stick to veggie and poultry dishes.

Ras Dashen gets big ol’ kudos for their gluten free injera and the atmosphere – nicely decorated, super clean, not too bright, and with some African music playing. The veggie combo was totally solid, tho the green beans and some other yellow beans were particular standouts. The lamb was reported to be slightly tough, but my dining partner said it was still delicious. The portions were also huuuuuge – two things was way too much for two of us to finish. There was a mixup in ordering our wine, mainly because our server’s English wasn’t great, but we did wind up getting wine, so we weren’t complaining. If you want drinks, you may want to go get a drink menu from the bar.
