Safeway

This is one of the nicer Safeway stores. It’s large and clean and carries more choices than some of the smaller stores.
I use Safeway to buy the basics. Their Just4U website program can really save you money. I use it before I go shopping and load the specials they offer onto my card. The program offers me substantial savings.
The produce at Safeway is always marginal and I don’t buy meat there. Due to health concerns, I buy most of my produce and meat at Whole Foods or Central Market which offer a large selection of organic choices.
Safeway is offering more organic items all the time and what they have is often much cheaper than Whole Foods. You just have to comparison shop.

Decent Safeway — unfortunately in the LCW area we have limited options for grocery stores that provide a variety of Organic Proteins (chicken, red meat, pork, fish, etc)! This one has a better selection than the QFC on 145^th, and has about the same amount as the Fred Meyer on LCW.

I like this Safeway for their wine display. It’s easy to get to and easy to find my wine selections. Their parking lot is not congested. Easy checkouts and the location is convenient to my drive home.
Their staff’s are friendly and ready to help.

I went to grab a last minute cake for my sons first birthday. The lady that wrote on it and got it for me was super super friendly and attentive and helped me pick out a cake. I would be inclined to come back just because of her! However, the cake tasted like cardboard with a crap load of powdered sugar frosting all over it. It was gorgeous but tasted absolutely horrible and I was embarrassed when everyone ate it. It had the consistency of a mr clean magic eraser and was tough to cut through :(That was my first and last time buying a store bought cake not only from Safeway, but from anywhere. Next time I will make my own.

So If you are into fried chicken and loooove fried chicken DO NOT BUY HERE. I don’t know what it is but I always get RAW chicken it’s still bloody red pink whatever you want to call it. The staff doesn’t seem to care because all they say is «ok we are sorry here is your money back» I would love to see some more inspectors on how they cook the chicken here… This Safeway is ridiculous. I would just knock the deli down if the management staff or whoever actually cares about what happened. I guess $ 15 an hour is starting to get to their heads. DO NOT BUY DELI HERE. oh and their Starbucks staff is the most rudest I have ever come across.

Well, it’s been a few years and they remodeled. It’s nicer, but the layout kinda sucks. Their deli isn’t all that appealing, and their roast chicken wasn’t good at all. QFC down the street is much better for that, and also for knowing if your produce is local or not. But it’s an improvement. And it’s near my house.

The sushi is just… bad. If you’re looking for yummy grocery store sushi, go to QFC on 145^th.

It’s your basic grocery store. Pretty good size and good customer service. Fairly cheep and always has good deals. Usually do all my grocery shipping here. Wish the beer selection was better. All in all a solid store.

This is a super nice Safeway, modern, and clean. The problem is that the people that go here are from another, slow moving, bad driving, self centered world. My car was hit and scraped up in the parking lot (bad drivers) a few months back, and often times store patrons in front of you in line will try to pay one way, then when that fails, try to pay another way, then find their coupons, then get a call (slow moving/​self centered)…all while you’re probably running late for something. Frustrating. I guess if you go during off hours, you’re likely to do better. As I said, the store is one of the nicer ones in the area, and was great in the beginning. The produce is of good quality. It’s the people that make all of the (bad) difference at this Safeway.

THIS PLACE HATES PLASTIC BAGS AS MUCH AS I DO!!! I would rather put my groceries in a big dirty sock. I hate the sound they make, the way they feel, the way they look when they’re sitting there with like one or two things in them. UGH. BARF. … Oh yeah and they’re a terrible plague on our planet. I really hope more stores adapt the «green» policy with plastic bags. KUDOS to this particular Safeway for having a somewhat anti-​plastic bag policy.
We usually stay with a friend about a block away from this store, and all end up going to it about 10 times before we leave town. It is familiar territory in a foreign land. It gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Ok… Other than their General Tso’s chicken, I just love this place! Well, I always go shopping with my dogs after a long walk. I seriously don’t know if they really allow dogs in or not. However, no one ever stops me. On the other hand, the staff is very friendly. This definitely will makes me shop here more!

I much prefer the parking arrangement here than the place right down the road that starts with a Q and ends in a C.
The place is always clean but seems more expensive than other said place.
The staff here are always welcoming and happy. The guy that worked the checkout we went through was good at making conversation and was doing the store announcement when we went through. My friends gave him a compliment saying he did it perfectly.
Looks like they have better selections of ethnic food here than other said place as well.

The only reason I can’t give five stars is because this is a store inside the Seattle City limits, which means they don’t give you plastic bags. I like plastic bags, I need plastic bags, because they have handles that don’t break like paper. Consequently, although they have an excellent selection and great location, I don’t shop here any more because they don’t have plastic bags. I go to the North City Safeway about two miles north, because they have plastic bags. Yeah, it’s that important.
This store is well laid out and in a good location, so it’s a shame I can’t shop here any more because they only have paper bags.

I go to this Safeway a lot because it’s convenient for me.
The store itself is new and very nice looking. Finding your way around is pretty intuitive in my experience.
They have a nice lounge area in front by the doors where you can watch TV and read or eat. I believe there is free wireless, too.
However, you really need to double check your receipt every time. Many times I have had a mistake made and they hustle you through the line so fast there isn’t time to look at the receipt before the next customer is being helped. By that time you have to wait in line again to have your issue fixed.
Last time I was in the checker charged me 3x for the same fruit. He took off one charge but left two on there. I didn’t notice until I was out of line and reviewing my receipt.
I had to wait in line all over again to show him the mistake. First he said he had taken it off and I said he charged me for 3 different fruit types of fruit when I only bought one and he only voided out one. He did give me a refund but no apology.
The guy who was in front of me came back to complain because the checker had also double charged him for an item.
I felt badly for him because he was obviously flustered but they need to figure it out.
It’s confusing how the Just For U discounts come off on the end of the receipt and the club card savings come off line by line. Many times the Just For U discounts don’t ring up correctly and I have to go back and get it corrected which is a hassle.
Check your receipt!

I have no idea what this Safeway looked like before it got renovated, but I’m currently liking the new makeover! It’s very clean and organized. Since it’s super close to my apartment, this is my default grocery store. Finding a parking spot is not a problem.
Safeway recently came up with the Just 4 U program that when you sign up, you can get even additional savings when you use your Safeway card. You can even download the app to your phone, I recently bought bananas at $ 0.49/lb. Super cheap! Always be on the lookout for new deals every week on the ads and on the Just 4 U program to save money.
They both have a self-​checkout and regular cashier lines, which is nice since I like having both options. I honestly can’t find much to dislike about this store besides them not carrying certain specialty items.

This is my go-​to grocery store and I love it. It’s close, parking is easy, and they usually have everything that I’m looking for. I really have no complaints.
They renovated a few years ago and it’s completely a brand new, amazing look for this Pinehurst Safeway, and I love it!
I also pick up my prescriptions at this pharmacy and they are amazing. Super efficient and quick — there’s never a line either when I go around 6 or 7 p.m. after work.

Recently moved into the area and changed jobs so I had a 90 day period where I was without health insurance and needed to get my perscription filled. This pharmacy was the closest to where I lived so I had my doctors office fax my perscription to this Safeway.
I got a call within minuites of my doctor sending my perscription from the Pharmicist letting me know when my perscription would be ready. I let her know that I was between healthcare coverage so I would be paying out of pocket and asked what the total cost of my perscription would be. She let me know it would be around $ 280 but since I was paying out of pocket, she would be able to give me 10% off which certainly helps a bit.
When I went in today to pickup my perscription she let me know that she did some research for me and was able to find a coupon for a free 30 day supply of my perscription! I didnt have to pay a single penny for my $ 280 perscription! I was so excited and thanked her a bunch. I really appreciated her going the extra mile for me so that I would not have to pay out of pocket this time.
I am definately going back to this pharmacy once my health insurance kicks back in!

This is the 2^nd closest grocery store to my mom’s home, and the one we go to the most office to take care of her shopping needs.
SETUP
There IS a QFC that is closer, but we find that the pricing-​scheme for the very same items that my mom relies upon tends to be more expensive.
HEALTHY STUFF FOR MOM
Safeway tends to be a bit more price-​conscious in keeping some basic necessities for those on fixed incomes — like my mom — and for this reason it’s why we tend to get a lot of produce and frozen goods here.
As members of their Safeway rewards programs as well, we can take advantage of some pretty good deals with some dramatic discounts.
SPECIFIC «JUNK“FOR ME
And when I say «junk», I DO mean JUNK FOOD. For me, I get great deals on a lot of crap-​food that I ALWAYS get:
* There is always a discount on one of the major brands of chips — often a buy one, get one bag free, and I always take advantage of that, like most recently when I got the Sour Cream & Onion bag of Lay’s chips and I got the Cheddar Cheese bag of Lay’s chips for free.
* And when it comes to my favorite soda of choice — PEPSI ONE — THIS IS THE PLACE to come get it! First of all, not all grocery stores stock it. Other chains only have DIET PEPSI or PEPSI MAX. But I am NOT a fan of Aspartime or other non-​sugar sweeteners that are not SPLENDA-​basied. And Pepsi One is and that’s why I get IT. Plus there are some deep deep discounts such as getting 4 2-​liter bottles with each only costing 99cents each. Or two of their 12-​can cubes and get two cubes FREE.
NETWORKED
An additional benefit of being part of Safeway’s network is that I find when I’m visiting my mom’s brother (my Uncle Gary) down in the Glendale-​Burbank of Southern Cal, I get the same discounts and deals at the grocery chain there called PAVILLIONS. So I take the special Safeway discounts with me wherever I am on the West Coast.
THE LOWDOWN
I love getting healthy stuff and my personal favorite «junk foods» here!

This Safeway is super clean and bright… but I couldn’t find a darn thing in it! Most Safeway locations have a seasonal aisle, so it’s really easy to find Easter candy, Christmas stuff, etc. My friend and I were on a hunt for Valentine’s Day candy, but we walked the entire store for nearly 10 minutes before we found it in the VERY back near the wine section on a makeshift rack. The selection was teeny-​tiny. It was just odd.
The parking lot was a bit bizarre — seems like the spaces are not placed in the most efficient manner. If they re-​did it, I’m sure they could fit many more cars in the lot!
This Safeway was fine, I suppose, for a quick trip, but I definitely wouldn’t make it my regular store.
