Seattle Hypnobirthing

My husband and I took Hypnobirthing classes with Kira and felt it was the best birthing preparation we’ve had so far. I would even recommend her classes to those who aren’t necessarily planning for a natural birth, but would like to learn more about the birthing process and relaxation techniques. Kira is incredibly relatable and approachable. The 2.5 hour sessions went much quicker than expected and we always felt that the information learned was worth the time. After each class, we always left thinking «how do people go through birth without this information?!» Really, our only recommendation to Kira is that she should be charging more!

I took the Hypnobirthing class this winter with Kira. Even my husband enjoyed it, which is a lot to say when the class is at 9:30am on Saturday mornings. Coming out of class I was confident and looking forward to the birth of our son. The breathing and relaxation techniques were helpful in both preparing and for the birth itself. My husband learned how to be an active partner in the labor. The class helped us understand the process, be informed about the pros and cons of medical interventions, and communicate successfully with the hospital staff. We had a doula, but because of the class, I felt like we didn’t need one because we were so prepared. I did end up with an c-​section, but I was able to try everything possible before it became necessary using hypnobirthing techniques.

I attended HypnoBirthing after a recommendation from my Midwife. I have always had medical based phobias and I was hoping to get a sense of relaxation through attending class. I was more than pleased with the class. For me, it was necessary that I take the techniques seriously and practice as much as possible to try and keep my out of hospital birth a reality. Kira is amazing and I would recommend this class to anyone who is looking for a natural birth experience or anyone with anxiety around birth.
I also attended a private session with Kira to work on my phobias and she is even more amazing in a one on one environment.
I am now patiently waiting the arrival of my son and cannot wait to put all the techniques to work during labor!

My husband and I took Kira’s class and loved it. Not only did we learn techniques to help facilitate the birth process, but I found the meditative techiques great for overall stress management. My husband and I are soon-​to-​be, first time parents to twins and that exciting news introduced a lot of questions and fear-​mongering from the medical community regarding birthing multiples. Fortunately for us, we were introduced to Hypnobirthing by our doula friend and a beautiful thing transpired. After researching multiple therapists, we decided that Seattle Hypnobirthing felt like home. Not only are Kira and Tracy, the therapists, lovely and amazing, they are both mothers to twins. Talk about kismet! After the completion of our 5-​week course, we are so in tune with our «bump» and have eliminated fear from our birth story. We are so grateful for the techniques we are learned and are excited for our journey into parenthood.

A friend of mine who had taken Kira’s class and went on to have the all natural birth she had planned, wholeheartedly recommended that I take the Seattle Hypnobirthing class. As a first time mother, I knew I wanted to take some sort of birthing class, but didn’t really know where to start.
I am not the type of person who is all about being «natural» or crying/​going into a major depression if medical intervention becomes necessary during the birthing process. I didn’t really know what to expect from the class, but since I trusted my friend, I decided to sign up and bring my reluctant husband along for the ride.
During the first break of the first class, my husband and I walked to the car to get a snack and as we were talking, we were both shocked by how helpful and encouraging the class had already been for us, after just 1 hour! I didn’t even realize how scared I truly was to give birth. My husband and I are both doctors and so we have been taught all about how an embryo develops, etc. but we felt like nothing could have prepared us for the actual birthing process, especially since every woman is different and every birth is different.
After taking the course from Kira, we were stunned, STUNNED by how much we didn’t know before and by how peaceful and calm we felt. Not to mention, the relaxation techniques learned have now incorporated into our every day lives as well. We felt prepared and went from dreading giving birth to actually looking forward to it with eager anticipation.
Kira and the Hypnobirthing curriculum, put our minds at ease and provided us with the necessary tools to get us ready for the big day. I would absolutely recommend this course to everyone, regardless of your frame of mind or if you go into it adamant that you want a natural birth or not. This course prepares you for both ends of the spectrum and leaves you feeling empowered to make the decisions that are right for you, your family and your body.
I tried to go in with an open mind and I am so grateful that I did, because what I was able to get out of the class changed my entire perspective and outlook on giving birth!

I highly recommend this course to any expecting mom regardless of the type of birth you are planning. I read the book beforehand thinking I could get the info I needed without having to pay for the classes. I could not have been more wrong. The classes provide a wealth of information that isn’t in the book and many of the techniques I glossed over while reading were highlighted in class and have become my favorite go-​to relaxation techniques as I prepare for the homebirth of my first baby. Also, you will receive another CD (not the one included in the book if you buy beforehand) from your instructor which will help you achieve a deep meditative state (works like a charm for me). I can’t stress enough that just reading the book is not enough! On top of that, Kira is a fantastic instructor and the classes fly by.
The cost of the classes is a small price to pay for peace of mind, in my opinion. I have several friends who are due around the same time as me and while each of them can’t wait to meet their baby, they all say they are terrified about giving birth. Strange, because I feel nothing but calm, confident and secure about my upcoming birth. I can’t wait to put it all to the ultimate test this March. Thank you Seattle Hypnobirthing!

I would recommend the Seattle Hypnobirthing and instructor Tracy Adams to any expecting mom — regardless of what type of delivery you are planning or expecting, this course will help you.
Before this class we were scared, apprehensive and worried about our child’s birth. We are now confident and excited about the birth of our first child after this course. Tracy is a wonderful teacher and hypnotherapist.
We were skeptical about Hypnobirthing and what to expect, but this was the best class we have done in preparation for the birth of our first born. Thanks to Hypnobirthing we are both very confident about the birth and ready to experience whatever might come at us during the experience.
Hypnobirthing and Tracy changed our whole outlook on the birthing process — that being relaxed and calm is how babies are born into this world and have been since the beginning of time — birth of a child is a natural event, not a medical event (even though we are delivering at Swedish First Hill).

My husband works out of state for a significant part of the year and Tracy was extremely flexible in scheduling private classes for us. Because my sister would also be attending the birth, we did a private session with her, too. The breathing and visualization techniques were amazing. The fear releasing sessions were my favorite and most helpful to release any anxiety I had about birthing (my first child). My labor went extremely well and I was able to deliver drug free in 8 hours! Thank you Tracy and Seattle Hypnobirthing!

Let’s just say that I’m probably a typical first time (soon to be) dad, and I had no clue what this whole class was about. My wife «dragged» me there, and I’ve heard horror stories from friends about how painful baby classes are. Hypnobirthing sounds like some hippie thing you would do in a sweat lodge and I was not optimistic. That being said, i went with an open mind, just not expecting much.
Well, I was entirely wrong. Not only did I learn a huge amount, but I feel 100% prepared for the birth of my daughter. The beauty of the class is that it makes things so simple that by the end you feel prepared rather than scared.
The whole idea is that you just need to be calm and relaxed in order to let your body do the work. Instead of treating birth as a medical event, Hypnobirthing treats it as the natural even that it is. Makes complete sense since that’s how babies are born in nature all the time.
Tracy did a great job not only explaining everything and making the mothers feel confident in the class, but also helping us birth partners to feel confident in our role. I feel safe saying that I know exactly what’s expected of me on the big day, I know how to handle complications if they come up, and I know what I can do to help my wife, and I know I won’t freak out at any point.
There are so many options out there, and I highly recommend this approach and these teachers. It was a fantastic experience and I can’t thank them enough.

My husband and I took a private class with Traci, as we didn’t find out about hypnobirthing until about four weeks before my due date. Not only was Traci accomodating by teaching a private class that fit into our schedules, she also was incredibly personal in everything she taught us. All the relaxation and self-​guided imagery exercises felt like they were tailored to our exact situation. This is why I would recommend hypnobirthing techniques to everyone preparing for childbirth.
Our son was born two months ago, just three weeks after our class. My labor was incredibly fast, and I did not have as much time as I expected to get myself into a relaxed state while giving birth. But I feel that the techniques we learned made an incredible difference in the kind of birth I had: a natural, peaceful, water birth that was best for me and for my son.
If we decide to have baby #4 some day, I hope to take the five week class, so we can learn even more.

We just completed the HypnoBirthing course with Kira and are so glad we did. She teaches all these wonderful techniques for achieving a safe, gentle and natural birth in an open, comfortable atmosphere and small classes (about 4 couples). Although we haven’t yet put what we’ve learned to the ultimate test — the birthing day — we feel really confident that what Kira taught us will indeed make that day just as we envision. And not only do we have a bunch of tools to use for our baby’s birth, we can take these same relaxation techniques with us as we embark on our new journey as parents.
Kira is very personable, professional and just fun to be around. She always had answers for our questions and offered her own personal tips as a mom. During the classes you learn about the birth process, breathing, relaxation and visualization techniques, and labor positions based on Marie Mognan’s HypnoBirthing method. Kira leads the class through self-​hypnosis scripts that help you to relax and access your subconscious mind. We had never done anything like this before but each exercise was really awesome and powerful.
We finished our class just a few weeks before the due date, but we already feel really good about what we’ve learned and how to use it. Along with the book, CD and handouts from class you do get assigned homework. Make sure you do it! Practice is the key becoming comfortable with these techniques so you can call on them whenever you need.
Overall, we highly recommend Seattle HypnoBirthing for anyone who wants the tools and resources to bring their baby into the world using natural methods for the best experience possible.

Kira was absolutely amazing for our hypnobirthing class! We felt like every moment we spent in the class was worthwhile and would recommend it to everyone, even for a second baby. We actually wish we had more classes to go to. We had signed up for another class and were taking it at the same time as the hypnobirthing class, but we ended up canceling our other class because we were getting so much more out of this one. The class focuses on visualization and breathing and specific strategies for working through the labor and delivery process. Eliminating fear and focusing your energy on the things your body needs to do to efficiently deliver your baby were the keys for us.
We had our baby two months ago. My husband and I used the hypnobirthing techniques through the labor and I am convinced this is what led to such a smooth textbook delivery at home without any drugs.

Kira is the rock star of hypnobirthing! I wish she could attend my birth and be my birth companion. She is awesome. Something about her voice is very soothing so when she reads the scripts it’s very easy to relax and get into that desired state. A lot of the guys in my birthing class fell asleep when she would read the scripts.
I loved the atmosphere for the class too– there’s a huge TV screen to watch the films on and comfy theater style chairs to sit in.
I actually miss my class already and it just ended last week. I wish we had one more class.
At first I thought a 2 ½ hour class was going to be SO long but it actually just flies by. Kira is upbeat and engaging and keeps it very interesting.
She was so sweet and even extended her help to us for after our births if we need anything. As a single mom, this is invaluable. I know that I will be picking up the phone when I have my little one and calling Kira. She made me feel good about my situation, wasn’t judgmental and genuinely cared about me.
