Seattle Public Library – Wallingford Branch

I realized I should have added that this location is quite small — there are a few computers along one wall, and a table or two, but not a lot of space. If the location is ideal for you to study or whatever you may have to experiment to figure out when the non-​busy hours are.

The cutest library ever! They have a quaint children’s section, lots of featured books rotated through on display and are welcoming. They also have a nice selection of board books, tape stories and a short table for lil guys.
Whenever I ask questions I am greeted with a friendly response or an immediate check on the systems’ search engines.
It’s size is a positive and negative at the same time. If it’s crowded, then it’s overwhelming. But if not, then you get the cozy small town library feeling.

Great little neighborhood library. Christine is wonderful– a seasoned librarian, helpful & friendly.
My only complaint is that I’d love to see them open longer hours.

This is the perfection of a neighborhood library! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I’ve almost never checked something out without it trigerring some lively discussion with one of the staff. Periodically, they have superbly fun events that my daughters (and I) adore. If you’re simply about ordering online, picking up and checking out quickly, it gets no more efficient than their systems. And, while there aren’t THAT many books on the shelves, there are plenty for my girls to enjoy that process of exploration and discovery that is what a library is all about. I truly feel this library as a part of my Community and love going there!

Hold your breath! It has almost NO BOOKS! That aside, the reference librarians are wonderful and very helpful.
Yes, I know! NO BOOKS!!! This little branch has become a computer use place fo rmany services in the Solid Ground foundation– homeless and low income. Also, a reserve pick up.
My words of why no more books? How about higher shelves? Less sit around space for children? Less pick up? are only my ideas and thoughts. The library bigwigs know more than I do.

This is a great branch. It is not very large, but has a good fiction section, a small assortment of books by various nonfiction topics (cookbooks, sewing, history, literary, etc.), a small biography section and a large children’s/young adult section (almost ½ the branch). There is also a good sized CD and DVD section.
A lot of people use this branch to request books from other library branches since the Wallingford Branch is conveniently located on 45^th street.
Customer service is always great.
I visit this branch often!

Small. It actually might be the smallest library I’ve visited in the SPL system. I happened to be in the area so I thought I’d stop in. There were a lot of children with their parents. It had a real feel of your neighbourhood library when you were a kid but I didn’t see any adults without a child in tow.

We love this little neighborhood library! and the librarians are always helpful. Very kid friendly and it’s nice that it is located in the same building as Family Works and Solid Ground, great way to support the community in one building!

This is a neighborhood library, so yes it’s small (not one of the Carnegie’s lib) and geared for the community… which is mostly families and children. Frankly I love that children are having fun in a library, it’s music to my ears… and I don’t even have children.
They have good hours… open till 8pm M-​TH. Friendly staff; young & mature alike.
I don’t go there to hang out, but just to pick up holds; organized stack system alphabetical by last name.
If I want a quiet library, I go Suzzallo at UW.

This is my local library. It is tiny, but as I never go here to do anything but pick up books on hold, this is fine with me. The hours are good, the staff isn’t ever rude to me even though I almost never remember to bring my card or my number and the small selection of browsing materials is well varied and interesting.
The one downside is parking — there are spaces in the lot available but at least half of them are for the staff/​volunteers at Solid Ground (that is what that place is called, yeah?) and so sometimes all the public spaces are full and I’m reduced to looking for street parking. (Or I just go home and walk back; I really only drive there when I’m on my way to or from somewhere else anyway.)

I took the class here today on a field trip for the Danger Books! presentation. It was pretty cool – a team of 4 people acted out the chapters of books that had been challenged or banned in the past, then led a discussion. My 8^th graders (despite all the stifled giggles at the risqué parts) actually had a good time.
The librarian, Jessica, was very welcoming and did a great job organizing and facilitating the event. She was very knowledgeable about the library’s censorship policies. (Glad to hear they’re different than my dear mothers, which involve a black sharpie or a paper shredder!)
I’m considering switching this branch to my «home» branch now that the Greenlake branch is closed for mold removal. Yeah, it’s small, but I like how cozy it is. Plus, all I ever really do is put books on hold and pick them up, and this branch is closer to my work than the Greenwood branch.
Mmm…books. I feel like going back to check out something scandalous.

This is more of a day care facility than a library as I know them.
Apparently with the advent of the internet, most people don’t bother coming to branch libraries too often. To make up for this, everyone is encouraged to make as much noise as possible, freak out, and be general animals.
Hey cool whatever. As long as it gets kids into a library, right?

I love my little neighborhood library. It’s so darn cute and petite, and I even find things I’m interested in on the shelves at times. I love doing all my ordering online, and then just taking a quick stroll to this branch to pick up all my wonderful books/​CDs/​DVDs!
I have a lot of librarian friends, but despite that, when I think of a library, I often think big stuffy places, awful paint, and an atmosphere I don’t want to linger in. And yet this little library breaks all those preconceived notions I have. This little nugget rocks!

Yes public libraries do rock! This one is relatively small, but nicely located on the #44 bus line. Beautifully hooked into the Seattle Public Library’s computer system. Go on line, order your books, pick ‘em up in a few days.
Actually we love all of Seattle’s public libraries.

A small but friendly neighborhood library. Haven’t tried the free Wi-​Fi yet, but I’m usually able to hop on one of the PCs to check e-​mail and such. A generously sized children’s area for such a small branch. And even though they don’t have tons of shelf space, you can always put items on hold and have them delivered to the branch. Self checkout also speeds things along. Conveniently located right on the 16 and 44 bus lines.
Public libraries rock!
