Sensitive Dog

Julie is awesome. My dog is smart and loves to play games, so «come here» was one big chase time. He’d hear me call and then you could see him think hmmmmm, do I need to? or is that squirrel more interesting? And off he’d go. Julie worked with him and then taught me what I needed to do to continue the training. He’s not perfect after our six sessions but he’s well on his way and I know what I need to do to keep it going for him. Julie is so calm and knowledgeable and my dog took to her right away. She really understands dogs and has a wealth of resources to share. I’ve already recommended her and continue to recommend her to anyone who mentions they need help with their dogs. If I need help with something else, I’ll call her again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

Julie came into our home and saved dinner! We love to cook and eat but by not understanding our dogs needs it became very arduous and frustrating. We couldn’t get out pup to stay in a constant wait/​stay, Stay out of the kitchen and not beg. On top of which we were encountering more aggressive behaviors, and he had a very anxious personality.
Julie immediately listened (WHOLE HEARTEDLY), let us get it all off our shoulders and then went to work. Identifying a few things and working to correct them with us. He stayed for the most part in a wait on his bed for 45 minutes! We ate dinner in peace. This training has even translated into other areas and we are looking forward to working with her in the future. Worth every penny.

Julie came for an in-​home visit for my anxious dog. I was extremely happy with the visit. She not only worked on what my dog needed, she was able to explain everything thoroughly, help me out with all the elements that dealt with why my dog was acting in the way he was, and helped me out with homework to practice on our own.
She was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful! Would recommend her to anyone who wants to work with or understand their dog’s behavior.

When my husband and I got our first puppy (had previous rescue dog but only as an adult), I struggled with training — reading this and that and not knowing how to connect with my seeminly unruly puppy. Our vet recommended Julie and we started working with her once a week.
I can’t recommend Julie highly enough. She deeply understands dogs and how they communicate. She helped us learn how to teach our puppy what behaviors we wanted from her. Julie is very positive and I felt she was fully invested in helping us bond with our puppy in a positive way while establishing dominance.
Julie is direct and kind. She has a wealth of knowledge and is quick to adapt to ideas that work and others that weren’t as effective. She not only knew how to work with the dog, she also knew how to work with two anxious adults too! And just to note we have a mixed breed from Taiwan and there isn’t alot known about these dogs here in the states.

I can’t believe I have never reviewed Julie and her training. Back in 2011 when I got my bulldog, Pupa, my dentist recommended Julie to me and I would recommend her to anyone.
I called Julie and scheduled a time to meet regarding her in-​home private lessons. If I remember correctly I signed up with her instantly. I had interviewed other trainers before her, and Julie just clicked best with both my dog and I.
I needed new puppy training, especially because my puppy would grow into a large dog (he is now 75 pounds). Julie is so easy to work with. She sets up lessons according to your schedule and is very flexible.
It has been a few years now and I do not remember all the details but overall I would say she helped me greatly to train and understand my dog. She didn’t just show me and tell me what to do, but she explained why. She taught me valuable information about my dog and his behavior.
*After training with Julie, I did end up signing up Pupa at a board and train, not because he needed the training at this point, but because I felt that he would get more love and attention being there to learn than just going to be boarded when I was going out of town.

Julie Forbes the owner of sensitive dog training is a highly educated and in-​tune trainer. I have taken my dog to one of her 6 week classes and have seen tremendous results. Her style of training is very balanced. I would recommend her to anyone.
