Good drivers ed program that meets the state requirements. I had Shawn as my class instructor, and he did a good job although classmates would make it harder to learn b/​c of being disruptive. He had an odd sense of humor, we would typically get done early and would watch videos of bad drivers from cameras, I guess for the shock factor so we wouldn’t be unsafe enough to cause an accident. I had Megan for all of my drives that worked out perfectly, everyone in the class was disappointed that she wasn’t certified to be the instructor for the DOL drive test. Overall, it depends on who your other classmates are but they have good structured drivers ed programs that meet state requirements that some other drivers ed schools don’t have b/​d others make you pay for each hour.

Research driving schools carefully. Mandated in Washington state, so be sure to find the right fit for your child, esp. If required to sign a document waiving rights after a $ 600+ pre-​pay. Speak with owners about busines practices and teaching techniques. Discus customer service expectations. If your child has a 504 plan, IEP, learns differently, or has another diagnosis, learn from our mistakes and be diligent.

Definitely not the place for the nicest instructors. Some of the people are nice but many of them are grumpy and unfriendly. They really love your money. Late to an appointment for driving? Phew, $ 60 just flew out of your pocket.

Kristie was incredibly helpful in personalizing and addressing our needs. Tailored a schedule and plan for private adult lessons. Most of the other places have rigid class schedules and are geared to the teenage driver. Such a relief to find someone who would work with us not only with scheduling but with finding a good match with an instructor.

I thought I’d take my business to Shield Driving School as it supported police officers for my driving test — but the was a BIG mistake! The instructor I had was a really grumpy old guy who gave unclear instructions to the point that I though he was trying to prank me/​test me out. If you need driving lessons or a test I’d definitely recommend going elsewhere.

I took my written test here since it was within walking distance of my house. The lady at the front was very nice and was able to direct me to a nearby ATM when I didn’t have enough cash on my for the test.
The written test is pencil-​and-​paper and she graded it at the front as soon as I was done and loaded the results right away. I was in and out in 15 minutes.

This place is wonderful! The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Kristy. I am truly grateful! Highly recommended.

I went to Shield to do a few hours of adult driving lessons and to take my knowledge test and drive test. Kristie was the best! She worked with me to find a great instructor (thank you, Aubrey!) and scheduling was a breeze. I did a few 60-​minute lessons and my drive test with Aubrey and he was very calm and informative. I made mistakes here and there but he would explain what to do next time as opposed to scolding or berating.
A reservation was not required to take the knowledge test. It used a lot of the same questions from the DOL practice tests, so I definitely recommend reading the handbook and taking the practice tests online!
I used the Shield car for my drive test and, since it was the same one I’d been using for lessons, I was already familiar with the car. This works out great for the non-​insured or those without a personal vehicle.
It just doesn’t get easier than this. I wish I’d come here years ago!

I absolutely love this Driving School! The staff there has always been extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The classes are full of great information and taught by professional and experienced instructors. My son has learned so much he is starting to critique my driving! I will be sending my daughter there when its her turn. Thank you so much Shield Driving School for teaching new drivers to drive safely and wisely.

I chose Shield driving school to take knowledge and driving tests.
I scheduled the knowledge test by phone, but the driving test could only be appointed after you pass the driving test.
The driving test schedule was pretty busy. No free slots for the nearest weekends, so I had to take it at lunch time during the week.
The examiner was polite and didn’t charge strictly.
This place is ok for taking an exam.
