Recently this physician was going to be on call for my current physician and as I had a less than great experience with her before(following some trauma around a surgery), I called and left a message to ask if she could give me a call since I was concerned having her as backup. FYI After I had seen her weekly for 3 months when the New Year rolled around I couldn’t afford to pay out of pocket(she is cash only) prior to meeting my insurance deductible for the year) and when I had called her multiple times in February(after meeting my deductible with hospital bills that gave me a payment plan) to return she told me she had lost a patient and couldn’t see me any longer. She never returned the call and instead told my current physician she wouldn’t be available to be on call for me. She is super sweet and kind but in solo practice and seems to prefer medication management so she might be good for young women with eating disorders(she is über skinny) but like most psychiatrists she doesn’t really do trauma informed therapy.

Dr. Slater is the best! I’ve seen her since 2007, and she has been patient and kind. I finally started an antidepressant in 2009, and it has helped a great deal. She listens compassionately, never appears to be judgmental, and has insightful and realistic suggestions.
