Southside Booty Camp

SS Booty camp has 4 sessions a week for a month in Capitol Hill & various other locations. You can pick your time of day & it’s great if you want to start your day with a good mix of toning/​cardio exercises. I’m not a runner & I would never get out the house in Seattle weather if it wasn’t for a committed exercise session.
Lots of the ladies who attend are veterans & are both awesome & welcoming. Sessions are attended by women with various fitness goals & the trainer works to accommodate them all! This totally beats a gym & I prefer to exercise with a group. I am SO glad I found them.

Still no weight loss, everybody. Just so you know, you’ll still have to figure out a way to workout somewhere (in addition to this course) if you want to be trim/​lose pounds.

I signed up for SSBC after trying to get my fitness act together on my own. I tried running, but that’s sometimes/​many times hard to do with your toddler. So I resigned myself to the fact that I would have to carve out time without any of my barnacles in tow, because after all, this is my time right?
6am seemed like a tough thing to do, but I’ve realized that it is exactly the perfect time to work out. It’s before your mind & body are awake enough to talk yourself out of going.
And what a workout! I come home each morning feeling like a million bucks, albeit sore. Coach Heather totally rocks it! She is supportive, listens and makes you feel like you want to do more & better. On our days «off», she sends out email with homework, and other helpful & interesting information, like articles, sometimes based off of conversations held in class.
The workouts are designed for all levels (in my class, we have beginners through to alumni), and no one feels left out or like it’s too hard or easy.
I’m hooked!

I’m starting my second year of Booty Camp in Capitol Hill and still loving it! It has definitely become a part of my lifestyle and is always challenging me. Working out on a regular basis has given me the ability and strength to do things I would’ve never done before. Booty Camp got me in shape for my first backpacking trip through the Olympics last August. It also, inspired me to do my first 5K run; the Valentine’s Day Dash in February. I would recommend the Southside Booty Camp to anyone who wants to have fun working out. It’s so refreshing to workout first thing in the morning with a great group of women. Overall, it gives me the strength and energy to get through the day and look forward to the next morning.

Great program. Theresa (Seward Park group) is the best trainer ever: variety of exercises, low-​key and not pushy, and super friendly. I started the camp in hopes of complementing my get-​back-​into-​running efforts after several years off. Booty camp is great for toning and building some muscle, but not especially taxing cardio-​wise if you’re already a runner. The fall session is better than winter, since winter session is mostly indoors and it’s dark the whole morning.

I never thought I’d say this, but I love working out in the morning. It makes me feel great even before I make it into work. Thanks to Jessica and the other trainers at SSBC, I feel physically and mentally better than I have in years. They work with all ranges of skills, abilities, even injuries. I’ve never run in my life and now I do it on my own on the weekends, thanks to the motivation I get from camp. You can’t beat the full body workout, camaraderie or the outdoor environment. And now there are several camps to choose from: Magnolia, West Seattle, Volunteer Park, and Seward Park.

Straight up LOVE Booty Camp! Had an AWESOME work out today in Seward park. Jessica absolutely pushed me to my limit, but I was having such a great time being outside in the beautiful morning I hardly noticed. Favorite moment of the morning: doing plank pushups on the pier watching the sunrise reflected in the totally still lake, only to be disturbed by ripples of my own sweat dripping off my face. Talk about a zen work out! It was great to be outside in the fresh morning. Booty Camp is a fantastic start to the day!

The trainers are excellent. I’ve had two different ones at Volunteer Park and been really happy with both. They work hard to accommodate everyone, no matter what your goals. There are also nutrition information sessions and weekly emails with non-​camp day workouts. It’s sad that it moved inside for the winter, but if they come out again in the spring I’m there. It’s great to be with a really diverse group of women and to have the motivation to get out there (after all, you paid for it already). It’s pricey the first time you sign up but more reasonable afterward. And it’s a local, woman owned business.

I started this camp in August because as a working mom with 3 elementary school age kids I was feeling run down and tired all the time. I have migraines and knew that exercise helps keep them at bay. I could not seem to find a way to find time and motivate myself to consistently work out.
Since finding Southside Booty Camp (6:00am class) at Seward Park I feel better and have only had one migraine since I started. The people are great and our instructor is very positive and will encourage and support you whatever your level of physical fitness. Although I am in no way a morning person I haven’t missed a class and can’t imagine what I would do without it.

I signed up for Booty Camp thinking that I would give it a go — but just for one 4-​week session. Well, here I am in my 4^th 4-​week session and a very happy person.
What is it?
Southside Booty Camp is a «boot camp» style workout program designed specifically for women. It all happens outdoors and there are several locations. I happen to go to the original location in Seward Park. There is not much that can motivate me to work out in a traditional indoor gym. However, the following things (and more!) have really made me fall in love with this program:
1 — A tough and thorough workout while listening to the birds (especially the wild parrots) singing in the morning.
2 — Doing abdominal crunches while watching an eagle fly overhead.
3 — Occasional yoga sessions on the shores of Lake Washington. Very meditative.
4 — Getting to enjoy the natural beauty of Seward park while perfecting the form of my push-​ups (I don’t cheat at them anymore; I’m really doing them! And lots of them!)
5 — A fantastic group of women who are diverse in body type, goals, ages and color: but all the same in that we are all getting great outdoor exercise while supporting one another.
The trainers (Jessica, in my case) have techniques to challenge people while keeping in mind that others are not at the same level of physical ability. Some women in my sessions are recovering from knee injury. Some booty campers are training for a triathlon. Some are pregnant. Some just climbed Mt. Rainier. And other booty types in between all these.
We all get a great workout.
If anyone out there who knows me reads this review, what I want for Christmas is more sessions of Booty Camp! ;-)

I completed the November 08 session of Southside Booty Camp and had a blast. Even better, I toned up and lost five pounds in four weeks. Jessica the trainer is knowledgeable and expert at tailoring the circuit-​style workout to meet the varying fitness levels in class. One woman had never run before and a few were very fit – I was somewhere in the middle – and we formed a supportive community despite our different abilities. It’s amazing to see the sunrise from the park (and I am not a morning person AT ALL). I would rec commend this program to any woman who needs a little kick in the booty to commit to a healthier life.
