I’ve been to Spinnaker Bay several times and in my humble beer opinion they are one the better breweries in the city. The beers here are big, and they’re down right delicious. The scotch, wow don’t even get me started, it’s amazing! They’re all perfectly balanced and you can feel the love in each glass. The staff is super friendly, and always happy to see you come in. If you love beer, and appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into it, this is a must stop when you’re in the area!

One of the best brew pubs I’ve visited. Great chat with the staff who provided us some local advise on where to go and what to do on our short stay in Seattle. Great full flavoured beers, the Scotch Ale was a particularly good drop. Thanks for the introduction to Pacific Northwest Beer.

This is one of the best breweries in Seattle and perhaps the whole Pacific Northwest. Unlike many others, the brewers here prefer large, malty beers with the right balance of hops when needed. You won’t find a beer under 5% and they’re all amazing. My personal favorites are the porters which have made them famous. Their location is quite homey despite unassuming exterior. They’ve got a cool old bar that dates to the depression, and the brewers and owners are often around and happy to talk beer and life. The bartenders are awesome to.

5 stars for this amazing craft brewery! They have been around for just two years but the brewers and owners are delivering an impressive array of products in a warm and welcoming environment. Currently their beers are only available on tap at the taproom and at various other incredible eateries around town. You are going to love this beer so either go to them(in Hillman City) or ask(demand) that your favorite local watering hole start serving their beers immediately!

Really good stop! I had the amber and I tried the Scotch ale, both were very good! I really like the interior with the old bar and I liked the décor inside. It seemed to be nautical themed and the beer names were nautical as well. I would definitely stop by here again!

Yet again exceeding expectation… live 3 piece band playing outstanding music. New beer on tap… amber = excellent. Tripel IPA is dangerously smooth at 10+ percent. Always enjoy our experience here and appreciate the talent that goes into this beer!!! :-)

Not only an A+ selection but the staff and ownership are the best in the business. They care about the product and the customer. Cheers to Janet, Alyssa and the entire team. Mahalo!

Lovely new brewery, rotating food truck in the parking lot. The beers have been so well-loved, they have to work to keep all the varieties available! Run by two women from the neighborhood, it’s been fantastic to have a nearby hangout. What’s not to like?

An unexpected and wonderful find in Columbia City! My friend and I were out exploring and stopped at Spinnaker based on its Unilocal reviews. We were certainly not disappointed! Fortunately for us word had not yet got out about their new Sunday hours, so we had the place to ourselves, Janet, and Elissa(the owners). They were so wonderful — we had an awesome conversation with them about beer brewing and Janet’s family roots(her great-grandmother brewed — and her photo is on the wall!). I can honestly say I enjoyed every beer I tasted there. The beers is really high quality — I’m really not an IPA person but Spinnaker’s IPA is SO delicious. The environment is also welcoming — Elissa told us about their building being an old carriage house, and the bar came from Chicago and used to be in a speakeasy during Prohibition. Definitely check out Spinnaker — you will not be disappointed by the people, the environment, and most of all, the beer!

This is a fantastic new brewery(1 year old now, so not that new anymore, but we finally got around to visiting it). We met the owner and chatted about the origins of the Spinnaker Bay name — they do indeed have a sailboat. I enjoyed all the boating related wall decorations and expressions too. Their lineup now was a blonde, pale, double IPA, Scottish ale, and a porter. All were quite good. It’s unusual to find a new brewery with not a single bad beer! The porter was especially good — rich and chocolatey — but the blonde was nicer for a hot spring day(and it has a lot more flavor and body than your average blonde ale). The only thing that would be nice would be a bit more diversity to their lineup — the five beer styles on tap were pretty standard microbrewery fare. More adventurous and creative brewing(for example, single-hopping with a newer hop varietal, Belgian yeast, lager styles, etc) would help them stand out.

Spinnaker Bay Brewing is our favorite neighborhood hangout. Period. Delicious beers, relaxed atmosphere, and woman power! Owned, run and brewed by women — and it’s tasting like success. Let me preface this by disclosing that I’m not a huge beer drinker. I have tried all their beers though, which a non-diehard drinker like me actually finds to be very drinkable. Major props for that. My favorites: 1. A Little Dinghy(Blonde Ale) — They make it with spent juniper berries. So crisp and floral. Too bad it’s seasonal because I would drink this all year! 2. Even Keel(Scottish) — So creamy… Can’t even handle… 3. Overboard(aka Yeastmode, Barleywine) — Also seasonal… and I think they’re out but this was sooo good! Not as syrupy as others I’ve tried, and good enough to have as dessert. The BF is a member of the Founders Club, so he gets the Imperial Pint(for the price of a regular pint) for the rest of his life or the life of the business. Which I hope will be forever. Because it is awesome. :) There are rotating food trucks in the next door parking lot on nights SBB is open, which you can eat inside. Check out their Facebook for the schedules.

A friend invited a big group of us to Spinnaker Bay Brewing last night. It was the PERFECT socializing event. Tables, room to stand, chatting everywhere. It was refreshing to be in a place where you could enjoy some fantastic brews, yummy food truck food, and great company without having to yell over loud music. It was our best night out since returning from Scotland. Beer — 5 stars Owners working the counter — 5 stars Food truck — 5 starts Ambiance — 5 stars Try the Barley Wine!

I first heard about this place through Amy over at St Dames as I think she had one of their beers on hand. One day I finally made it over. Given the spot it took over in Hillman City, it certainly isn’t much to look at when you approach it but then again if you stuck with the book covers everywhere you go, rest assured you’d miss manymanymany great places this region has to offer. Stepping inside, the art deco period bar isn’t really my thing but then again there isn’t much art deco I like(occasionally I’d see a building that’s cool). With that, it’s still a nice space and, if only indirectly, feels more-so when the owners love/take pride in it. The«behind the scenes» is also right there in yo’ face so I think that sort of «casual area» pours into the front, as well. The bathroom is nice & clean w/nice touches and a dual-flush toilet. They have a good variety of seating and I believe I saw some games you can play. Back to myself, I took a seat at the bar for a nice nightcap one recent post-work evening. Lisa(?), the gal I think working Friday nights, was very friendly. Some samples and a schooner later, Daren was ready to check out. A great find and I’ll have to come back later when the food truck is running outside.

GREAT neighborhood place. We love that they have chosen here to make their beer. See my pics to get a better flavor of the place. They now do growler fills, too. Facebook: Twitter Handle: @SBBrewing

Not a bad little brewery. It is situated in the Columbia City neighborhood. Personally I think that their beer is so so. I had an IPA which was not too bad. It was good and hoppy but in the end lacked complexity in flavor. Steve got a pale ale. It was ok too but I preferred the IPA more. Spinnaker Bay is proudly run and owned by women. I am not sure if the brewery attempts to take the claim of this in the Seattle area or Washington but there is another all women run brewery across the Sound. It is Der Blokken in Bremerton. It is totally cool that there are two all women run breweries in the state but it would always be nice to see more!

I have been waiting for this place to open for months! From the outside, Spinnaker Bay Brewing doesn’t look like much(it’s also in kind of a weird location, next to a Cross Fit and a Mosque). But once you step through the door, it’s hard not to love. It’s a big open space with high ceilings and exposed wood. Seems like they’re going for a kind of old timey feel – with an antique bar and black and white photos from the nineteenth century. I dig it. We tried the Porter and the IPA, both of which were delicious. Beers were about $ 7 a piece, and growler refills about $ 14. Not super cheap, but not super expensive either. I heart all the great breweries in Georgetown, but it’s so nice to have a neighborhood spot. When we went, Jemil’s Big Easy food truck was there serving up tasty grub to go with the beer. The owner said she hopes to have a rotating group of food trucks come in the future. Ohh and for all you home brewers out there: the owner also told us that she eventually wants to start holding competitions for the best home brew. The winner would potentially get their beer made by Spinnaker Bay! Very cool. I can see myself spending many summer evenings here… Before you head over though(and you should!), check their Facebook page. They’ve only just opened, so hours are pretty limited.

Janet has made an amazing Porter, and a delightful IPA for the brewery’s first offerings. The bar area is comfortable and open, a great place for friends to gather. Brewing beer has been in her family for generations! She has an old family portrait on the wall to prove it!
