I am so sad that this place has closed, and we hope that they relocate close by. Stewart Market had the best lunch around — chicken teriyaki, and the chicken and cheese burritos were amazing… and they used to have the best soup… So bummed. Really a nice family too that owned it… Stewart market people — we hope you come back!!!

Mom & Pop little convenience store. Their teriyaki bowls are fantastic! Mamasan makes it herself, sells it at the end of the counter. Some of the best spicy chicken teriyaki I’ve had Anywhere! I get one every Friday, since I’ve been working on the construction site 2 blocks away.

You wouldn’t know that down the street, in a less traveled street, is a wonderful little market, that caters to the needs of office workers and the late night downtown resident. You wouldn’t know that they have cooked food options, but their little(physical size, and number of options) menu is awesome, with very Asian flavors. Lunch time, and you are tired of the overprized food trucks and gourmet restaurants, you want working man food, they have it. Sure you can purchase a coke, at REAL msrp, not inflated downtown prices, but you want to come by, get a little lunch and they have soups too. I prefer their Large Chicken Teriyaki(spicy or non spicy); it’s a great deal, enough for lunch and dinner; seriously a good portion. The family that runs the place, is literally a mom and pop, and I love supporting local markets. When you are hungry, and want to find something delicious, come here and check out their lunch menu!

Small, family owned market that’s open late and has great inventory(including beer and wine). I haven’t ever eaten their lunch options(as other Unilocalers are reporting on), but I will attest to the friendliness of the place and also that they seem to be a community conscious neighborhood staple. Confession: I pass through here sometimes late at night for various last minute groceries, munchables, and random one-off purchases. The last 5 things I’ve purchased here have been something like Frosted Mini-Wheats, wine, a stick of butter, lemon juice, and Twinkies. Yup. They always smile at you nomatter how ridiculous your purchase is. Love this place.

This is probably one of the cheapest and tastiest(though far from healthiest) lunch spots in the area. You can get a small teriyaki chicken for $ 6 including tax. The small, by the way, is a challenge to eat in one sitting. A large is a dollar or two more, and even more monstrous. Spicy chicken(my go-to) is fantastic, and about 50 cents more. They have different soups on different days of the week, as well as fried rice on Tuesday and Wednesday. They always have some fried, finger-ish food, like egg rolls, «burritos», and corn dogs as well, in addition to some selection of salads. Beyond the deli, they have the typical fare you would find in a corner store(snacks, beverages, etc.). The cheapest way to get full in the area!

I love this place! For being a little store that’s owned by a couple in the area that it’s in, you’d would expect them to have their prices like all the other little corner stores around and charge you $ 3.99 for a bottle of coke. The prices are fantastic compared to the other little stores in Belltown /Downtown and the couple is extremely friendly and welcoming. They deal with quite the crowd from drunks to business people, but you never see them stalking anyone as they search through the aisles or talking to anyone in a disrespectful manner. It’s nice not to be watched while making a selection and dealing with such friendly workers. Their deli is really good and again, terrific prices. They always have Teriyaki(comes in regular and spicy), fried rice, and curry. I leave this place with a full lunch for about $ 7 and any where else it’s $ 9 – 11 just for something small to eat and no drink. I will continue to support this business and I hope you will too.

If you are a downtown wage slave like I am, you know how important it is to have a cheap food source., and this is it. Looks a little sketchy and no doubt is, but I’ve lived dangerously and eaten the egg salad sandwiches –they’re good and cheaper than Starbucks! I know I should bring lunch to work but why when I can buy delicious goodness for around $ 5? Nothing has made me sick yet, au contraire, it is delicious and cheap. They do a pretty good spicy teriyaki and they have carrot sticks and celery sticks with salad dressing for $ 2.50. Lots of street people paying for alcohol in bags. Christian music on the radio, Mom, dad and various kids – another small family-run business, the very kind I go out of my way to support!!( – even tho the radio station isn’t my first choice.)

So, I finally tried the Chicken Teriyaki at Stewart Street Market, and I have to say, it is pretty darn good! I was surprised and slightly impressed. I guess I’ve never really done the mini-mart-serious-food sort of deal, but this may make me a believer. For around $ 7, I received a plate of freshly made(that day, anyway) teriyaki. Mind you, this is the large teriyaki, and it is HUGE!!! Definitely enough for two meals, with three heaping cups of rice. Seriously, a ton of food for $ 7. I’d totally come back to Stewart Street again for the teriyaki, might even have to try the Curry Chicken! Thanks for listening…
