Stoke Harvester

Horrendous online service, and terrible customer service overall. I ordered a pair of Viper V-​5 Fins and never received them. I waited for over two weeks with only one reply from Shawn «saying he will check on it.» Three emails and 2 voicemails later, over the course of two weeks, still no response. Terrible and shady customer service. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE EVER. You have been warned.

Their online store should definitely be avoided. I ordered an item, and got a confirmation e-​mail that said they were processing my order, which it continued to say for 2 weeks. After a few days I decided that I wanted to cancel my order, so I wrote a message at the web-​site, and called many, many times. I never received any response at all. Notice that their contact info does not list a phone number, which I guess is just fair, since they never answer it, and don’t ever call back. Two weeks later the item arrived, shipped directly from the manufacturer, with NO indication how to return an unused, but unwanted item. These dudes have a long way to go if they want to run a serious online store. I will NEVER buy anything from them again.

My girlfriend and I got a groupon for the Stoke Harvester 2-​hour paddle boarding lesson. We had to cancel at the last minute and they allowed us to reschedule free of charge.
When we finally went, we had an amazing time. Our instructor was RJ and he was awesome.
He explained everything so it made sense and when it was time to go venture out of the beach area we were in he didn’t rush us and was really chill. He made it feel as though we were just going out and paddleboarding with our friend as oppose to a random instructor.
Overall a great experience and I HIGHLY recommend it!

A friend and I went on a 2-​hour paddleboard guided tour through this company. Our instructor was very fun, knowledgeable and a great teacher. We started near the Shilshole Bay Beach Club and headed towards the Ballard Locks along the shore and back across the other side of the bay. My friend and I had a great time learning the ropes of paddleboarding and practicing getting our balances while standing on our boards. Our guide did a great job of going over safety tips, giving us encouragement and also correcting mistakes we made. He was also really good at gauging the ability of everyone in our group and making sure that everyone was challenged but enjoyed their time on the water. I would certainly recommend using this company if you are interested in learning how to paddleboard!

Shawn, the owner of Stoke Harvester couldn’t have been more hospitable. Love that the headquarters is operated out of the Elks Lodge in Ballard… gave us a very comfortable and welcoming feeling. Steve was a great instructor-​let us go at our own pace and comfort and continued to tell us (the group) how well we were doing. Didn’t feel intimidated at all as I have with other SUP places. Both Steve and Shawn were super laid back and made me feel comfortable as I was a little nervous about paddleboarding the Puget Sound (I can’t lie).
We got a Groupon for Stoke Harvester when we were visiting Seattle from Phoenix. It was well worth the money and then some. 2 hours of exploring the Puget Sound on a beautiful sunny Seattle day! I will definitely be getting in touch with them again next time I’m up there and have been recommending to all of my friends!

Shawn was great — gave us instruction and we headed out. I was apprehensive that it would be difficult to balance (Shilshole Bay) and cold (Shilshole Bay). The evening was gorgeous and I couldn’t believe how easy it was to get your balance bearings. We were quick to get the hang of it — and we were off! You couldn’t ask for a more friendly, fun and helpful place than Stoke Harvester — good people wanting you to enjoy SUP’ing and Shilshole. What could be better! DO IT!

We visited Seattle for a weekend this summer (’11) and Shawn, the owner, was as accommodating as could be. Let us lock our stuff in his pink station wagon, and bought us a round at the Elks Club bar after the paddle. He offered before the float, didn’t think that’d have been such a good idea though. Waves were choppy!
We started out at Shilshole bay beach, a small beach which seems well used for paddleboard launches and geese (there were a lot of unhappy geese every time we approached the shore). About 4 different groups of paddlers went out while we were there as well as some individuals with boards.
We paddled to the Shilshole Bay Marina and up and down the moorings, including under a couple of the walkways which was some fun. We then went South toward the Hiram M Chittenden Locks where we viewed beautiful homes overlooking the Sound and got to catch a couple of good boat wakes.
On the way back we became part of the Argosy boat tour of Puget sound. We could here the tour guide, «Paddleboarding is a sport that is gaining in popularity here in Seattle, originally started in the Hawaiian islands… etc.» That was kind of cool.
Go on Friday or Saturday when Paseo’s (unlabeled pink building with the long line across the street) is opened. They have amazing food!
