Summit is a unique place to train Jiu-jitsu. The atmosphere and sense of community is what separates our school from the rest. Summit is unique in that it’s a non-profit club. Everyone who trains at Summit does so for love of the game, not profit. The emphasis at Summit is the idea of Jiu-jitsu for everyone, which is reflected in the monthly dues — $ 75/mo, while most other schools charge almost double. The exercise itself is incredible. After a technique session, evenings are spent sparring your classmates. Training is controlled and safe — rarely do injuries occur. Experienced grapplers know when to lay off. This may seem ironic, but no one training Jiu-jitsu actually wants to hurt anyone. After all, if you break your training partners, you’ll eventually run out of people to train with. What you have instead are a bunch of people playing a complex game of human chess. As a result of training, I have personally lost a good amount of weight and gotten into the best shape of my life. Just about everyone in Jiu-jitsu has a weight loss story. On top of that, I can safely say I’m the last guy you want to pick a fight with. This isn’t Karate with straight arm punches from horse stance. We’re getting on top, transitioning to the back, and slapping on a choke or taking your arm home with us. Having trained at other schools and tested myself against their students — I know that we have a good thing going at Summit. The atmosphere, level of instruction, and price can’t be beat in the Seattle area. I hope to see you on the mats soon.

BJJ isn’t for everyone, it definitely is an ego bruiser and has a very high turnover rate. I’ve been going here for about a year and a half now and have learned a lot from George(primary instructor). Sometimes you don’t realize how much you know until you start rollin’ with new comers. This helped me realize the progress I made. This guy really knows his stuff. He is a great teacher and can explain it in a way where newbs can understand. He goes into the«why» of a lot of techniques which I believe its beneficial. It’s a better way to learn rather than the«monkey see monkey do» Come check it out, but make sure to leave your egos at the door! =)
