Im not a big fan of sushi, in other word, i have never satisfied with any sushi restaurant in Seattle, but today I was totally sold! The chef special looked like a picture and tasted like food from paradise!

Ever since I became vegetarian, I’ve avoided sushi. A friend of mine suggested the avocado/cucumber roll. It was pretty good, but the Tide Roll was excellent! Seaweed Salad and Cucumber. The people were very polite and helpful. Not too pricey… $ 6.50+tax for each vegetarian roll. Definitely a place I would take the food to go, as was previously mentioned, there are only four bar stools inside. I have another place to visit for lunch.

At first, I though that one roll of sushi is not even enough for my lunch/dinner but I was wrong. Most of the roll I have had in Sushi Maki was very tasty even though it just a little bit pricey… I’m usually go with Moon Rolls, Tempura Rolls and House Special Roll since I love eel and their eel sauce but sometimes the chef pour a little bit too much sauce and it become salty but I’m happy all the time when I’m at Sushu Maki :)

I’ve been getting lunch here once a week for the past year. I’ve never once been disappointed. Everyone is super friendly and the sushi is top-notch. My favorite is the tempura asparagus roll. Don’t think I’ve ever spent more than $ 12 on a lunch here which seems totally reasonable to me for Capitol Hill. I’ll usually get one more substantial roll with a side of cucumber rolls to keep the cost down.

If you like complex or saucy rolls it’s pretty okay, though they’re really heavy on the eel sauce and mayo. The nigiri is very ‘meh,’ and if you get it to-go they use Pam to keep it from sticking to the container. Which… works, but now your sushi has Pam on it. If you like more traditional sushi(like nigiri and simple maki rolls), I’d recommend Hana up the way. Has a few seats inside and 2 – 3 tables outside, but mostly does a take-out business.

Quick, yummy and cheap sushi! Very tasty and large rolls. It’s nice if you can sit outside(very little seating inside, maybe two tables for two outside). Definitely has the freshest tasting fish of the sushi places around it.

Sushi Maki delivered above and beyond our expectations today! We ordered take-out for lunch. I ordered the Seared Salmon and LOVEDIT! My co-worker asked for a special ordered on the Tempura Roll, she is picky but absolutely loved this roll. We also tried the vegetarian Sun Lover roll with sun-dried tomatoes and avocados. It was surprisingly yummy! Definitely an unexpected combo but yummy.

I was pleasantly surprised by this little hole in the wall! We sat out on the sidewalk, and though its not the most scenic location, was still nice to be able to sit in the fresh air and people watch. I got a Nova Slice Roll and an order of salmon sashimi. Both were delicious! The salmon was amazing, and decently priced! I will definitely be back!

It’s hard to find good sushi. Came across this place going somewhere else for food. I have to say, this spot is really good. Went outside my comfort zone and tried the geshia roll. Really good. Cute little place for bestfriends to meet or on a date.

A disappointing experience getting a take-out order of three rolls. I called ahead to order three rolls(totaled more than $ 24, which seemed kind of steep), and it seems like they were finished well before I arrived to pick them up… I don’t really pay any attention to food safety, but it made me a little uneasy that my raw fish was sitting on the counter of a stuffy, un-air-conditioned little square of a storefront for who knows how long, in the summer heat. Anyway, the rolls weren’t too good — I didn’t take pictures, but the other sad-looking take-out photos are pretty similar to what I got. I may not be giving Sushi Maki a fair shake because I didn’t dine in, but if you’re considering taking the food home with you, just know that I was underwhelmed.

I stopped in once before and ordered two rolls, thinking, «You’re a sushi-loving gal but you’ve been burned before: let’s be conservative and only order two rolls and since it’s close, order more next time.» Silly, silly me. The rolls are generously sized and two was more than enough. It was painful to finish them both(I mean, I did, but it hurt) and I am now wiser. Not that wise, because I just ordered two rolls to go just for me, but I’m happily anticipating another«too much sushi» problem. The rolls are delicious and fresh with a good balance of flavors and large pieces of fish. Everyone else has already noted that you can really only seat about two people comfortably outside, but on a nice day you’ll have the option of jostling for one of two tables perched on the sidewalk which will each fit two patrons.

Came here having heard that this place has good sushi for the price. I ordered spicy tuna, new York, and spicy salmon for take out = $ 24 Not a great deal, especially since they were bad. Rice on the rolls were sticky and salty. It made the rolls really dense and the salty flavor ruined the balance of fish & rice. I took off all the rice and ate it with rice my husband made at home. Neither of the spicy rolls were even remotely spicy. The sushi chef was stingy with wasabi. I only got 2 little dabs for 3 rolls. I had to ask twice for her to reluctantly give me another pinch. This is minor, but menu is all over the place. There are So many rolls and are divided into unnecessary categories There are sushi restaurants all over Seattle, and there is absolutely no reason to ever visit this place again.

I happened by this place and very happy I did. I ordered a 747 roll. The roll took only took a few minutes to make and was very good. The service was very pleasant. They are also generous with the ginger and wasabi too which is refreshing.

Consistently Delicious. It was the best thing in the world to move to the city and discover there is a 4 star rated sushi place just around the corner from your apartment. I naturally order take out frequently. I say take out because eating in is almost impossible, this place is literally the size of a walk-in closet. Very small, but in the warmer months they have a few tables set up on the side walk. I love their chef’s roll, it has a little bit of everything and won’t disappoint! The service is friendly and after more than a year of going to Sushi Maki, I don’t have a single negative thing to say. Love this place!

Absolutely delicious rolls and sashimi and GF accommodating complete with Tamari sauce available! This is literally a hole in the wall just crazy with charm. I was a little surprised by the bill versus portions for the lunch special as well as the lack of tables(not too inexpensive) but definitely delicious enough to be happy to pay.

It’s just ok. The flavors don’t stand out. I’ve ordered here a handful of times and the fish is fresh but the rolls are always so bland so I just get sashimi. Seaweed salad and miso are a over average I think.

What an awesome find! This place is teeny tiny! I think there was only 2 – 3 bar stools inside and a couple two top tables outside(nice sunny day). It seems to be generally for take out so keep that in mind. The service was good and the food came out fast and was delicious! I also thought there was a large selection to choose from. Good quality for a take out sushi place!

Was enticed by great reviews on Unilocal as a hole in the wall with a big following is usually what I find most appealing. Not the case here… With no indoor seating in this takeout place we sat at a wobbly table set up outdoors curb side… I was greeted by car after car idling at arms reach. A douche in a Porsche idled next to our table fiddling with his stereo. As his engine radiated heat hot enough to cook my hand roll. My date saw my anger and carefully moved the soy sauce out of my reach, sparing this dude the need to google«how do I get soy sauce stains out of German leather». My hamachi hand roll was slight… A puny representation of my go-to, the fish itself was also nothing to write home about. The geisha roll was the highlight… A low watermark of a highlight at that. The spicy tuna roll topped with tuna was without spicy and was thoroughly mediocre. Disappointed :(

Great hole-in-the-wall sushi joint. And I mean it when I say hole-in-the-wall…like there’s about 4 chairs and barely standing room. They do tend to throw a couple sidewalk tables up on nice days though. The sushi here is good… pretty darn good. But a bit expensive if you ask me for a «mainly take out» type place. I would expect to pay those prices in a sit down restaurant. Either way, everything is made fresh to order and there are a TON of roll options. My Geisha roll with salmon, avocado, scallops, onion, the works… was delicious. Had a piece of salmon in a roll that was a bit chewy though. Hmph. The Bibimbap roll was just so-so. The beef inside was not the most flavorful but the sauce helped. For 2 rolls it was more than enough to eat… you do indeed get a lot. I paid a bit over $ 20(including tax). Could certainly order 3 rolls and have enough for two people. All in all a great little stop!

I’ve had Sushi Maki bookmarked for years and years, and today I finally found myself hungry for some sushi and about a block away. The cashier/server was very nice and I enjoyed my interactions with her. She was very… calm. That was really nice. I love nigiri and like leaving most of the decisions to the chef, so I was happy to discover that they have a combination option that includes five pieces of nigiri, a spicy tuna roll, and miso soup. The sushi was simple and it wasn’t outstanding, but it was good. I enjoyed it. The spicy tuna roll was much bigger than I thought it would be, which was a pretty pleasant surprise. Mindblowing sushi? No. Lovely in a very simple way? Yes… that sounds about right. I like this spot.
