I checked myself into the psych ward in a time of extreme crisis. I was hoping someone could help me with panic attacks and PTSD symptoms. For me this was an absolute nightmare. I was there for a week. The psychiatrist in charge immediately took me off my anxiety meds because he said I was addicted to them. I had been on them for ten years and going off cold turkey can cause seizures. I had to beg him for some anti-seizure medication so I wouldn’t have a seizure along with extreme panic and flashbacks. I was not given any medication to ease my withdrawal symptoms except Immodium(which didn’t help at all) and an anti-histamine for anxiety which I kept telling them made me panic rather than calm me. I was completely dehydrated and was never put on an IV to replace fluids. I lay in my room and suffered and became more and more panicked until I finally had to leave. The psychiatrist didn’t listen at all except to himself and was extremely unsympathetic. His report of me was full of lies and halt-truths. The ward itself is messy and depressing. The water stained ceilings are so bad, one fell in while I was there so the occupational therapy room was unavailable. No one on one counseling. I would check this place out carefully before admitting yourself or a family member and advocate for them. This is very hard to do in a crisis. Maybe it has gotten better. I doubt it. A very disrespectful way to treat the mentally ill and a very vulnerable population.

Grandma had knee replaced here with Doctor Williams. When I had concerns after her discharge to a rehab facility and her PNC pain pump tubing had become sheared and disconnected, with the tubing in grandma’s leg open to air and all other germs and baddies, I had spoken to the nurse at her rehab center who was more concerned with not having orders for her pain pump, than the risk of infection. I said something to the nurse several times and she dismissed me. Now to swedish, I called the anesthesia department to see if their anesthesiologist that was on call at 9pm could call the rehab center. The anesthesiologist was so nice and willing to help me. He ended up not needing to do anything because(after 2 hours of me pestering the rehab center) they finally checked and removed the catheter. But the fact that he was willing to help me and not dismiss me meant so much!

Good staff. Good security. Quick to act if its needed. The various floors are always friendly and clean. They are always quick to answer the needs of the patients. They always treat the patients as if they were family they don’t want to see leaving.(Which is refreshing) highly recommend for good care.
