I have three kids. My oldest has been taking lessons at the city for 4 months and I’m still hesitant to let her swim without a life vest. My middle son just turned 4. Within 8 lessons he’s swimming better than my oldest. My 18 month old is learning all the tools to swim like her brother and sWell worth every penny for these lessons. I wish I had known about these lessons sooner!!!

Carol and Kat are pros. A friend told us it was the first out of three places they had tried that had actually taught her daughter how to swim so I signed up my son. First 15 minutes he was already dunking his whole head under water, something he refused to do in many hotel pools over his young life. After only a cumulative 3−½ hours he can swim in the deep end! Next lesson they are going to have him jump in fully clothed (the «clothes test») to prove to him he doesn’t need goggles or a bathing suit to swim. The instructors get tons of kids who are crying and grabbing onto them frantically and screaming in their ears and they just «good job buddy» along until the kids drop the histrionics and just get on with swimming. Love that it’s so private and focused given the lessons are held 1:1 in a scuba store and not at a public pool.

Unbelievable. The first day we went, the lesson before us was a 1 ½ year old who was swimming free style on her own across the pool.
My 3 ½ year old daughter has gone from floaties and not wanting to put her face in the water (even in the bath tub) to being fully safe, competent, and confident on her own in a swimming pool (With me nearby, of course, but I don’t have to stay within 12 inches of her at all times. It’s quite relieving). Their teaching methods are so effective that she completed the water safety course halfway through the series of lessons. Now they have moved her on to «swim school» where she is learning specific techniques.
An acquaintance recommended this place to us, and I never messed around with anywhere else. I am so glad I didn’t, because after one summer of lessons I will never have to send my daughter to any lessons again unless I want her to begin competitive swimming.
The price is a bit shocking, but it is truly WORTH EVERY PENNY.

My oldest child is 4, my middle is 2.5 and my youngest is 10 months… We just started the baby in lessons with Carol because she and the other folks at Swimguru are THE BEST! If you want your kids to swim (actually SWIM — not blow bubbles or learn a tiny bit each summer for years on end) look no further! My older two were full-​on swimming at 2 years old and I expect the same results for my baby. Teaching your kids to swim is a safety issue! This place saves lives!

I absolutely can’t say enough about this place. My 6 year old had recreation lessons, golf club lessons and private lessons for about two years total, starting at age 1. She has learned more in the last two months than in the last 6 years. We just arrived on vacation and to see my daughter breast stroke across the pool… it’s amazing.
And then there is my 3 year old. She is swimming across the pool! The best part about Swim Guru is that they teach your children to survive in the water. As much as swimming is an awesome thing, Swim Guru teaches survival and that is why I recommend it to everyone I know.

Coach Carol, Laura, & Ann at Swim Guru are the best! It’s been only 4 weeks and my 4 & 6 year olds are swimming! And not only are they swimming, they have learned a great deal about water safety… what to do if they fall in the water in clothes, what to do if someone else is having trouble in the water, & how to rest on their backs if they get tired. In fact learning to rest on their backs is my favorite skill they’ve learned, it’s a great default for new swimmers. Just the other day my daughter fell off her floaty suddenly and instead of panicking she turned over onto her back took a breath and swam to the side of the pool. I was there the whole time and did not have to help her at all. So great to see these skills! Prior to Swim Guru my kids (especially my 6 year old) took many many swim lessons starting at about 6 months old with no progress. They could not float on their backs, travel in the water, or get their own head above water if it went under. They are not scared of water, in fact, they have always loved their swim lessons. I thought with this kind of enthusiasm swimming would just click. It didn’t. Out of frustration I tried several pools around town… no progress. I was super reluctant to make the switch to swim guru because it seems so expensive compared to the group lessons I had been taking, but now I wish I had done it sooner! I absolutely would have saved money! And their swimming education is so much better than they ever would have gotten at any of the other pools! Thank you Swim Guru!!!

The SwimGuru instructors are amazing! I have two young boys who were not interested in water at all prior to our lessons, my youngest wouldn’t even get his face wet in the bathtub. We spent several weeks doing group classes at a community pool last summer and I don’t feel that the boys made any progress. The changes I have seen with them since our lessons with SwimGuru have been amazing. We have been taking lessons for about a month now, and they are swimming far better than I thought was possible in this amount of time. They both enjoy their lessons and being in the water more in general. My youngest also dunks his head voluntarily in the bath :)

My 5 year-​old son just started learning to swim with coach Carol this month. He had never been in a pool before simply because no one in our family knows how to swim. After the 1^st lesson, he still tried to convince me that he didn’t need to learn how to swim; however, he was able to float by himself and even swim a little during his 2^nd lesson! I just felt amazed at the way coach Carol was able to teach him. By 7^th lesson, my son was able to swim from one end of pool to the other end all by himself; swim and rest (float) and swim and rest. Our whole family was just super happy about his progress!
My son hasn’t had a chance to learn from other coaches; however, I’ve met coach Laura every lesson, and from my observation, she is just another great coach, and I wouldn’t mind letting her teach my son. I highly recommend taking swim lessons at Swim Guru!
In case you are curious about the pool, it’s a non-​public indoor pool and the temperature is usually kept at 84 – 86 degree. Two restrooms right outside the pool, making it easier for children to use it. Locker rooms and showers are also available.

Coach Carol is the absolute best. My son who was 3 when we started would not even get in a pool and now he loves to play in the pool. We took lessons at all the community centers all over town and he would scream to even get close to the water. The lessons are worth every penny to have the piece of mind that your child is safe in the water. She has also worked miracles with my baby girl who is just 21 months old and knows how to swim and float in the water. She is a miracle worker and everyone must must take lessons from her to get results fast!

Coach Carol is the best swim instructor in Seattle. My 2.5yr old has been going to these swim lessons since she was two and now absolutely loves the water. She can now swim and float across the entire pool! My wife and I began these lessons for safety purposes since her parents live on a lake and it has paid off more than we could ever imagine. The cost is significantly more than group lessons at a community pool but you get so much more with one on one instruction. And Coach Carol is FANTASTIC with kids! And believe me, it is not an easy job.

My two sons, aged 3 and 5, are fully competent in the pool now after just a few months of twice weekly lessons with Carol. They are independent swimmers, capable of problem solving in the pool (getting to the edge/​ladder/​stairs on their own, climbing out of the pool from the edge, resting on their back when they need to take a break, submerging faces in water as they swim, and even learning basic strokes!) As a testament to Carol’s technique, I can actually sit pool side now with my small boys watching them swim quite capably without having to get in the water myself. While her lessons are not cheap, they’re worth every penny and honestly, you get what you pay for. I can’t tell you how many times people stop me at the pool in wonder over my boys’ swimming abilities. Carol is truly gifted at what she does, and has expanded our enjoyment of the pool exponentially. I am quite grateful to have found her.
