I found this restaurant on Unilocal, decided to try it out based on the reviews. Let me tell you… It did not disappoint! The place was quiet and we were the only customers when we first arrived around 6pm, but let me tell you that place quickly started to become alive. They played good music and the employees were very kind and quick. The food was amazing! The best restaurant I’ve been to in Seattle so far. I ordered the jerk chicken and plantains. Tried some of the rolls and beef patties which were very pleasant. When the places starts to fill up its a little slower to get a drink but I didn’t mind. I definitely recommend this place and will be returning. P.S. They informed us that they have live music on Saturday nights!

Dinner on the Go. oxtails and wings side rice $ 29 I opened up my box and I saw 3 little oxtails. I called them back and the lady that picked up yells at me and tells me that’s the portion. Check the box before leaving on the go!

Perfect Jerk Chicken Wings, don’t miss these wings! I also had the Chicken Curry Dinner Which has Jamaican spices in a creamy homey tasting curry with bone in chicken,(don’t worry this seems like a slow simmered, mom’s recipe — where the meat falls right off those bones) a bit of potato, onion and carrot. Served with a tasty side salad/slaw and rice. The atmosphere is a bit lacking but the service was friendly! This spot used to be Waids back in the day, so it has a full bar, pool table in the bar side of the restaurant, and a set up for live music.

Best Caribbean food in Seattle. Amazing jerk chicken and authentic patties. They also also have Ting soda, so delicious.

Authentic jerk and curry flavors executed in a classic home style fashion. If your not accustomed to bone gristle and fat as prominent features in your food, avoid this place. Lucky for me, Korean food is very much like this at times and I enjoy that. Portions were a bit out of balance(rice to protein = «where’s the beef»). Plantains were spot on, and cod fish fritters were delicious! This place makes island soul feel like«island lipstick»(island in name only). Be ready for a fair bit of spice; though not overwhelming at all.

I was raised by Jamaicans on both sides so believe I have spent my entire life in Seattle trying to find good authentic food. This is the closest I have come. I’m a big fan of this place. The only reason it loses a star for me is because the jerk isn’t spicy enough IMO. Other than that, from the festival to the patties which I can’t stop ordering, I’m impressed. Disclaimer: my review is based entirely off several takeout orders as I haven’t dined-in ever

Food was great. Did not expect how really good it was. Chicken Curry and Fritters are awesome. Do NOT miss this place. We will be back.

The best Brown Stew I’ve had in Seattle and very friendly staff. Reservation not necessarily required.

Don’t expect much when it comes to the décor and ambiance. It’s more of a lounge than a restaurant– I mean there is even a random pool table. I ordered the Curry Shrimp w/Rice and Peas and veggies. I’m an island girl and I also lived in Brooklyn for a number of years, so my standards are extra high. It was not the best Caribbean food I’ve ever had but it better than I expected. I would love to try some other items on the menu.

We ordered the Beef patty — the best in the city! My friend from Calgary even voted it best in the city. Service was nice, the bartender even ran out in the freezing cold because we left out credit card at the table! We will be back!

Got take out from here the other day and it was so good! I had the jerk chicken dinner which came with rice & peas and salad. The rice & peas probably is the best I ever had! It wasn’t dry at all. The jerk chicken was good as well but since I have Caribbean blood it could have been more spicier! I love hot! The salad was kind of bland but didn’t expect much from that anyway. We also ordered 3 meat patties which were also delicious! Definitely will be back to try more things!

It’s all that and more, having eaten authentic Caribbean food in Jamaica, this is the real deal. Got the jerk chicken, jerk pork and the beef patties. Yummy. The chicken here is not your steroid ridden chicken, they are normal sized succulent pieces of deliciousness. The pork is fatty and juicy. The red bean rice was done divine and so was the salad. All in all well worth the money. Will eat here many more times over.

First thing though, I didn’t realized it was a lounge/restaurant. The layout of the restaurant was a bit odd to me. It was very dark inside the restaurant, initially I thought I had walked into a club. It was 4pm on a Saturday and the place was completely empty. No one greet me at first and I had to go outside to take a second look to make sure I was at the right location. Came back inside, this time someone finally noticed me. I decided to sit outside since it was too dark inside. As for the food, it was very tasty. The jerk chicken was flavorful and moist, could be a little spicier though. Oxtails was very tender with good flavor as well. The salads and rice that came with both entries was good but not memorable. Service was decent. Food came out in reasonable time. Waiter came to check on us frequently to refilled water and take dirty plates away. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal. .

Food was okay. If your West Indian and from the East Coast then this place will not be for you. Jerk chicken was okay but the oxtail did not taste right. We also asked for a rum punch and the waiter looked at us like we had three heads and came back a glass of juice. Will not return.

It’s a tad bit in the expensive side, BUT the food here is worth it. The Jamaican patty is absolutely marvelous. I totally went«Oh my god that was so good!» out loud in public while eating it. Of the entrees, I’ve tried the jerk chicken and the oxtail. While the oxtail was tender and cooked well, I prefer the bold spiciness of the jerk chicken over the muted flavors of the oxtail. Anyway, you should all bum rush this place because I never see anyone there when I go and I’ll be very upset if they close.

Wonderful service, accommodated our party of 15, and every single person enjoyed their food. Curry chicken was the group favorite, but it was pretty bony. Amazing flavor though, and it kept me full for hours after the meal. The festivals(fried dough made with cornmeal) tastes like the outer part of a corn dog. Very slightly sweet, and slightly crunchy biting into it. The only downside was waiting about 50 minutes to get our food. Don’t be in a hurry if you’re eating here.

The jerk chicken hit the spot after a long day out hiking! Fantastic spice with just the right amount of crispy burnt edges. I’d come back for how flavorful the food was. The lights are a bit bright and the mains are ~$ 15(tad high for the ambiance), but they’re milking how tasty the food is :)

Let me preface this by stating I am Caribbean and Americans are being ripped off here. The food was good, but this review is based on service, timeliness and how incredibly cheap the owners are. We were greeted by a relentless and adorable bartender who attempted to get us to spend spend spend. That’s fine, except when I tried to inquire whether the $ 10 side(Yes, you read that correctly) would fill me up like a meal, her reaction let on I should prepare for disappointment and wallet gouging. Of course a $ 10 side dish wouldn’t make me full. Know why? A $ 16 ox tail«meal» is FOURPIECES of ox tail with 2 scoops of rice and a handful of «salad». So, what is a «side», exactly?! In addition to this, I just want to add that rice, beans, chicken, flour and sugar are inexpensive… And every dish made with these items start at $ 4. For example, you can have Johnny Cake for $ 4 meaning ONE piece of fried bread is $ 1, and it’s not worth it. While we’re at it, the average Jamaican Patty is $ 1 or LESS. Here? $ 4 Save your money and check out some of the other Caribbean places. The dishes they offer just aren’t worth it. Now for the service: it didn’t take long to let the bartender know our order, but as others have mentioned, the wait was 45 minutes. Just to make me seethe under my breath, someone came in after us and had his food within 5 minutes, and he ordered the same thing I did. What’s worse is we saw our food sitting in a glass window for 10 minutes before it was brought to us. So, to summarize, you’ll overpay for staple food dishes like fried dough, a meat pastry, and 4 small pieces of meat for $ 40. Oh, and it will take 45 minutes to an hour to be ready.

I keep going back to try more dishes and I love it more each time. Their jerk pork. Is SOONPOINT. Very smokey and just the right amount of fatty/juicy-ness. I think I like it more than the jerk chicken. Their oxtail dish is also delicious. Super tender and flavorful and you get several pieces. You can’t go wrong at this place… I’ve taken so many people here!!! They all love it.

Jamaican food with that amazing island hospitality!!! I stumbled upon this place while I was on yet another Jamaican food cravings! And also the fact that I just returned from another trip to the Caribbean, makes me want the food even more. Walked in to this place on a quiet Monday evening. I wasn’t sure they were open because it was so quite! Boy was I wrong! Two amazing people run this place! ZeJ and his brother? I forget. But omg they were so nice! They made me feel so welcome. They are also recovering from a major stress free Sunday event that they host –you guess it, every Sunday! Zej is also a DJ! We chatted all about Negril, Jamaica! Ahh I loveee that place. And Rick’s café etc etc. It feels like meeting friends I’ve never knew existed before. After a few too many chatters– I’ve ordered their food. Jerk wings– spicyyy! Oxtail! yummm Stew Red Snapper!!! ZOmg! And the curry chicken with potatoes and beans — my fav! While I wait for my food, they brought me special drinks! Special rum they just brought back from Jamaica few days ago and this awesome root juice. I forgot what it called but think a mix between Fijian Kava with berry smoothie type with rum. They just made it! And a few shots of different type of rum! All because we share the same love for Jamaica and Jamaican cuisine. Ya man, you know how to make me special man! I feel like I was with long lost family members from another mister! The wings were fantastic. Love the tender oxtail! And the curry chicken? That was my favorite! Fish was sooooooooo good too!!! They also gave me fresh habaneros since the spice nut in me kept asking for more heat. Homemade hot sauces, fresh peppers, complimentary cocktails! Talk about winning my heart through my stomach. Thanks guys! You guys are awesome! :) I would’ve been happy with just the food but the hospitality? That hospitality make this one memorable meal! And I have yet to forget about it. Food is all about memories and this place– well they gave you all that and so much more. Thanks guys! I’ll be coming back sooooooon!
