I joined The Crew, described by the Seattle Rep website as «Seattle Rep’s social and subscriber group for under-40 professionals!» Thanks to fellow Unilocaler Betsy K and her recent appearances elsewhere on stage, I’ve been jonesing to see more live theater. And being the social animal that I am, The Crew made sense. Basically you buy a subscription that includes tickets to shows. On particular show nights, they throw an event complete with food, alcohol, and fun people. So fun, in fact, that during one recent event, they had to limit the amount Crew members could drink before the show to keep them from being too boisterous during. Or at least, that’s what was rumored. However, they continued the party afterwards, and several of the cast came and joined us, which was pretty fun. On other nights Crew members have descended upon other lower Queen Anne locations. Nothing more fun than a bunch of theater inspired intoxicated people. Anyway, there are multiple levels of subscription you can buy. Myself, I picked up a 5 show subscription, it was in the $ 200-$ 300 range(don’t quite remember now). There was a welcoming event in which we got a tour of the Rep. Some of the events have included watching the cast warm up on stage, which was particularly exciting when The Three Musketeers was playing. The members are, for the most part, pretty cool people; the drinks and food have been excellent, and the entertainment top notch. If you’re looking for a different type of entertainment than your regular bar hopping or movie night, this is your ticket*. *pun intended.
