The EyeSite

I have had very good luck with The EyeSite. Great staff — great support and most importantly — my vision was fixed! They also were great with my 7 year old daughter.

I can’t say enough nice things about Dr. Kaur and her staff! Earlier this year, I developed an ulcer in one of my eyes. Dr. Kaur made herself available at all hours (literally) to ensure the health of my eyes. I have never seen a doctor care so much about their patients. I’ve recommend The EyeSite to several of my friends and co-​workers, as well, and they have been equally pleased with their visits.
To top it off, after not being in for over three months, I walked in to order more contacts today and they immediately recognized me and knew me by name.

I found this place on Unilocal and decided to make an appointment here. The lady over the phone was really nice and made me feel welcomed! Even the day of my appointment, I loved it. The eye doctor was also welcoming, love how the environment is clean also. Though I do wish they had more choices in frames. Of course, nice people here (: wow, my review sounds fob. LOL, I’m to lazy to edit it.

This is my first time writing a negative review but I feel it is important to share my experience with the people who work at The EyeSite. While my eye exam with Dr. Kaur went well and I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the care she provided or that experience… my interactions with the people who work in her office is a very different matter. I sent an email asking that my prescription be sent to my home address. When this was not done as per my request, I then contacted her staff and asked, over the phone, that my prescription be sent. I was promised that this would be done immediately. Days elapsed and still nothing was sent. I then called back and asked once more… I went as far as asking that my request be taken care of that same day. What I got was rationalizations for why this was impossible and another broken promise that my prescription would be sent the following day. I will be coming in, in person, to pick up my prescription and have absolutely no intention of ever dealing with The EyeSite again. I will warn others to steer clear as the customer service is simply awful. The people who work there need to be retrained and be taught what providing excellent customer service entails.

This year is the second time I have joined in on a visit with my 90-​something year old neighbor at The Eye Site. The staff, the office, and the selection of eyewear is great (did I mention I go here myself) and beyond compare.
Special acknowledgement goes to Doctor Sorena Kaur for her compassion, kindness and thoroughness. Doctor Kaur spent well over the time for a typical patient so that my hard of hearing nervous neighbor not only had a most complete exam but every step of the exam she explained what was being done, why and the results… AND with upmost respect and dignity. At the end of exam, Doctor Kaur did not try to sell her a pair of glasses that would not improve her vision. I gave special accolades to this establishment. Hurray! I often go to doctor’s visits with the neighbor and nothing compares to this special kindness and completeness.

I cannot give enough thanks to Dr. Kaur! During a routine dilation while I was getting an updated contact prescription, she caught that something looked a little off in one of my eyes and referred me to a retina specialist.
The specialist diagnosed me with a hereditary condition that results in holes and thinning in my retina. He said Dr. Kaur was extremely diligent to have caught it at all, especially so early on. Thanks to her being so thorough, I was able to surgically correct the issue with minimal impact to my eye sight. I’m so deeply thankful for this. Thank you, Dr. Kaur!

Great selection of glasses! I ordered my Bebe reading glasses few years ago, got them quite fast for a reasonable price, considering it’s designer glasses. Clean professional office!

This is the place to get your new glasses. Dr. Kaur really pays attention and provides great insight into building a prescription and glasses that work in your life. Office staff are professional and so willing to help. Bottom line the new glasses are great. Very happy.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr Kaur. She is extremely professional, approachable, knowledgeable and was always very attentive to my comfort. I have a complicated health history and she made sure that she had a thorough understanding of that. She discussed the pros and cons of various options and made sure that I had a clear understanding of each because there is not one simple solution to my eye care needs. She explained her recommendation, and the reasons why.
Her front staff is friendly but terribly confused. Repeatedly they mistook my Medicare for Medicaid. At one point they told me she isn’t covered by Medicare, she is. I told them she was listed as a preferred provider on Community Health Medicare Advantage website. I was told they would have to get back to me. It took two calls from me and a week for them to verify. Once verified I got an appointment in 3 days and was warmly greeted. After seeing Dr Kaur, I was told I would have a $ 30 co-​pay for glasses I said no, I have a $ 100 credit, she looked at her paperwork with large $ 100 hardware written out and said oh eyes you are right and proceeded to show me glasses. After about 30 minutes, I finished my selection and she asked for my Medicaid # I had to remind her once again that I am on Medicare not Medicaid then she told me all the glasses she had shown me were for Medicaid patients ONLY!
If I could deal with Dr Kaur only, I would recommend her to everyone without reservation. She needs to fire her current front end staff immediately and hire someone that can efficiently and correctly assist her patients with insurance! I used to be a case manager helping people with insurance so I can be my own advocate, I will wait to deal with a talented and patient medical professional willing to listen to me and untangle a complicated chronic medical history but no one should have to wait a week for insurance confirmation or waste their time because front desk gets Medicaid and Medicare mixed up. It’s like going to a great vet where the front desk gets cats and dogs mixed up

I’ve been struggling with them to resolve an insurance issue. They tell me they have filed my claim however when I speak with my insurance carrier they insist nothing has been filed. My insurance offered to speak with them and get it resolved but The EyeSite refuses to call them directly and refuses to give me the claim paperwork so that I can do it myeslf.

Friendly and helpful doctor and staff, helped me find a wonderful and stylish pair of glasses

I had adequate service from this place in the past, but that is a bygone age. In order to pay for new lenses, I have to apply tor assistance through the Lions Club. This is something EyeSite has successfully handled in the past. I had to wait over a week for an appointment, so this place DOES NOT NEED YOUR BUSINESS. I received a voicemail on Friday afternoon telling me they had not received any paperwork from the Lions Club and the exam would require cash payment. I called back Saturday to inform them that I had the Lions Club paperwork FOR EYEGLASSES ONLY and it was asking for an estimate, which I could not get until I went to their shop. I informed the receptionist that the exam was covered by Medicare, which she confirmed. I concluded that call with, «See you Monday morning.»
Monday morning, I take two buses from my home to the EyeSite. When I get there, I find that they have cancelled my exam appointment, and the doctor is not even in the building. Why? Because they didn’t get paperwork from the Lake City Lions Club. The receptionist proceeded to tell me that they do not do business with the Ballard Lions Club, the charity is neighborhood based, SO I WILL NEED TO FIND ANOTHER OPTOMETRIST TO SELL ME GLASSES. I insisted that was not how the system worked, it depends on where I live and not where I buy glasses, and even suggested she should call the Lions Club to clear up the confusion. She flatly refused, and re-​stated that they don’t do business with the Ballard Lions Club.
You may think that this stems from some sort of error on the part of the weekend receptionist, perhaps failing to note our phone conversation on Saturday. This was proven not to be the case when the Monday receptionist called the absent doctor and READ THE NOTES OF MY SATURDAY PHONE CALL TO HER FROM THE COMPUTER. It was at this point I realized this was an exercise in harassment of the poor and disabled.
They made me wait over a week, then waste an hour and bus fare (can’t drive with broken glasses) to get there, then obstructively abused a disabled repeat customer. This is beyond unforgivable, it borders on the legally actionable. I can’t wait to put this place on my list «AND GOOD RIDDANCE TO THEM.»

Get the promises in writing. My original experience here was decent but nothing special. How a business treats you after they’ve reached into your pocket book is the most telling to me. When i bought a pair of glasses here I was told by the owner that any problems with the glasses coming apart they would fix as long as i had the pieces. No big deal as she put it. Well the glasses came apart and when I brought them in I was told they were not under warrenty. I was not completely caught off gaurd that they wouldn’t fix them and eat whatever the costs but they sent me on my way without offering any solutions or giving me even a quote. Just sorry they’re not under warrenty anymore so here you go. Definitely will not return. And also taking down the note at my business which referred me here in the first place. :(

The Eye Site is a small vision care service. I went there mainly because it is covered by my insurance. Dr. Kaur is great; she is very friendly and really cares about her patients. She was very careful and thorough during my eye exam. After it was done, I explained her that I wanted prescription sun glasses on September because I’ll be going overseas. She was kind enough to go to the back office and get all the sunglasses that were not in display because of the season.
I was also impressed with the eye glass selection that they have. The fact that the place is small doesn’t mean that you won’t find your favorite frames.
I would definitely recommend this place.

A huge reason I decided to try this place out after finding that my old eye place didn’t take my new insurance is because of the reviews. I am so glad I did, because I agree completely with the other reviews. Dr. Kaur is knowledgable, nice, patient, and just all-​around amazing. All of her staff are the same way. I have been wearing some form of vision correction for over twenty years and the experience I had at the Eye Site was the best of any of them, by far.

I took my two kids for an eyeglass appt. This lady barged in front of me because she had a problem with her order. I realize Dr. Kaur wanted to assure the lady everything was ok. My appt was at 3:30 didnt get in till 3:57. But other than that Dr. Kaur was great! Will go back and refer.

Dr. Kaur is absolutely awesome. I came in today for a contacts lens exam, and honestly it’s been a very long time since I’ve went in for an eye exam in general. No judging whatsoever, warm welcoming, and you know she knows her stuff.
I actually had a lot of interest in optometry beforehand and she answered all of my questions. We thought we had some problems with the amount of pressure in my eye, but she went ahead and carefully checked it again; no problems whatsoever.
You can tell she cares a lot about the overall health of your eyes.
Other pluses: she’s a local, since she grew up in this neighborhood as well!
The office itself is brightly lit, big open space, etc. Sarah, the receptionist was warm and friendly as well. Everything about this place is great!
I would definitely recommend Dr. Kaur to anybody who wants their eyes checked!

I love The Eye Site! Dr. Kaur is awesome, she is very involved in the whole processes and for some one that is new to glasses that was very comforting. She is down to earth and easy to talk to. I feel she really does care and is there to answer any of my questions and concerns. They have a very good selection of frames and they can also order you a style if they don’t carry it in the store, I know this because my boyfriend is very picky. They were patient with him and he finally found a pair he likes. I can not say enough good things about this place. I am overly satisfied.

Dr. Kaur is pretty amazing. She’s really knowledgeable and seems like she genuinely cares about her patients.
I found the EyeSite through the VSP website because that’s my vision insurance provider and I picked the one closest to home. Parking can be tricky because it’s right on Lake City Way but as long as you find a spot, it’s free out front on the street.
The clinic itself is really clean and welcoming. I definitely got lucky with this one! I’m going back in this week to try on some trial contact lenses before I settle with a bunch of new ones.
Highly recommended. Dr. Kaur graduated from Pomona College (undergrad) and the Southern California College of Optometry. She’s totally legit.
