The Fish Store

I come to this store regularly for supplies for my two bettas and I am always very happy with the products available and the help provided by knowledgeable staff. These guys know what they’re doing and the health of the plants and fish in all of the tanks is clear evidence.
They might take a bit to warm up to you, fish people are a quieter sort, but if you are a person who cares for the health of your pets they won’t steer you wrong.

Omg DO NOT GO HERE!!! The employees are rude, are very stupid, and they lie and try to cheat people!!! They have a 15 day guarentee on their fish, which i thought was great… UNTIL one of the fish i had bought there died and i tried to get them to replace it. I brought a water sample from my ammonia-​free tank which they tested, and tried to tell me my ammonia levels were high, when i am 100% sure they were ideal (i had JUST tested it before leaving my house). I had almost $ 20 worth of stuff picked out from the store that i was about to purchase there until the stupid manager refused to replace my fish that had died (retail value $ 2). Wow. You could tell he cheats people all of the time, and since its only for $ 2, other people just forget about it. Sorry buddy, not me. You just lost a life long customer who would have spent thousands at your store, because you decided to lie and try to cheat someone out of TWO DOLLARS. What a joke this guy is, not to mention ASSHOLE. He was rude every time ive set foot in the place, and that was fortunately the last time.

Great selection of fish & supplies. The staff are knowledgeable and won’t sell you a fish just to make a sale — they care about what happens to it in your care. And the fish they have are healthy, not diseased like the chain-​stores.
Good parking behind the store, too.

These people know their fish! They have helped me answer questions and solve plenty of tank problems. I now have a nice stable tank with long-​living fish. Having purchased fish at many places including the big chain stores, I have learned that where you buy fish really does matter. It takes just one sick fish to kill off a good portion of a tank’s population.
The fish store has a great selection of healthy fish (salt and fresh), tank equipment, and decorative stuff. And you have to love the sales and coupons.

This store used to be in the Roosevelt area, they relocated to Lake City Way. They have a wide variety of fish, and often have hard to find species available. I love their live plant selection, and they also have a lot of nice wood. They always keep their frozen food well stocked. I also appreciate the monthly coupons & drawing for free gift, and the fact that they’re dog-​friendly!

The environment and quality of this newly opened store is great… staff are very helpful… prices are reasonable. The give out monthly coupons and you can get up to 30−40% off on saltwater fish and corals.
I highly recommend them. They are my favorite LFS around.

The space is a little tight but they have some cool stuff here and I was surprised by the decent prices on small and moderately sized aquarium wood, though I didn’t get any on this trip.
I’m nothin’ fancy in the aquarium world. I’m rebuilding my 10-​gallon, low-​tech, moderate light freshwater aquarium and have been looking for some more interesting varieties of plant that will grow under my conditions. Since website sellers do 1– or 2-​day shipping, getting some of the varieties I wanted online wasn’t appealing in terms of cost, so I finally made the trip up here. They definitely have some plants that are hard to find. I went home with rotala indica and sunset crypts (sunset crypts, you guys! I felt so lucky to find some and took the last of what they had!).
The animal options were interesting too and I had fun looking around. The Boyfriend (not an aquarium-​keeper) was particularly impressed that they had some discus on hold for Woodland Park Zoo and by their long-​spined sea urchin (actual quote: «It looks like a miniature video game boss!).
The staff person I interacted with was friendly even though I just bought several bunches of plants and a bag of substrate and had him set aside my baggie at the register for a few minutes when the wood caught my eye. I’ve got no complaints. I’m not up up in this area very often, but will stop by again if I get a chance or need something I can’t get elsewhere. Between this and a store down my way, I should have an interesting mix of plants in my new setup.
