The folkstore is a very small, folk/​acoustic focused music shop that has guitars, mandolins, fiddles sometimes, and banjos. They have good stuff, good prices, and Stu is an icon in the local scene.
Beginners and pros alike can find what they need.

Just got a guitar for Christmas and broke a string first day. Anyway, went in and got exactly what I needed. This is not a guitarcentar type place so if you know what you want, then it seems like a fit.

If you play the acoustic guitar, this place is great. I recently bought a Martin 000 – 15, and the owner, Stu, got the buzz out of one string, improved the others, and made some minor adjustments and re-​strung my guitar for just $ 25. Meanwhile, I was in heaven, playing on a vintage 1957 0 – 18 Martin. If you love Martins or if you play the acoustic guitar and you’ve never played a Martin before, I highly recommend this place.
Along with Artichoke Music in Portland, this is one of my favorite guitar stores…
