I highly recommend Genevieve!
I came to her in a unique place where I had taken French lessons as a child and was fluent, but lost most of my ability through the years. I had tried a classroom setting prior and found it unhelpful as I was not a true beginner, but not advanced enough for higher level classes.
Genevieve created a custom plan to fit me. We worked on all elements: reading, writing, and conversation. It was exactly what I was looking for! She helped me create a plan for each week to continue to continue to advance. She is patient, creative, and will challenge you to go farther.
She’s the best French teacher I’ve had.

Geneviève Larivée is an excellent French teacher. She brings a great level of enthusiasm and energy to our lessons, combined with her sense of humor and fun. She is a wellspring of positivity. One of Geneviève’s many strengths is that she also learned a new language as an adult (English, which she speaks beautifully and fluently). She draws upon this experience to bring a genuine understanding and sensitivity to her student’s individual learning style. Geneviève is a fountain of good spirits and professionalism. She has a deep reserve of patience, and is one of the hardest working people I know. She motivates me to do well, and along those lines, she will often follow up with me between lessons to make sure that I have understood. Her knowledge and understanding of the French language is complete and you will simply not find a better teacher. She is also a dedicated athlete and artist, which just makes her a great person to know. Her creativity and energy are apparent in everything she does. I highly recommend Geneviève.

I came to the French Studio as an advanced french student looking to keep my french up after a semester abroad. I started with 1:1 lessons two times a week for an hour each. She was extremely flexible in finding hours that worked for both of us and was very accommodating throughout my time with her [10 weeks] if I needed to change a meeting, ect. We spent the full hour talking in French and working on my fluency, and occasionally I would have the opportunity to practice my writing and we would edit it together. I learned/​improved SO much throughout my time with her, and I could really see my fluency improving. Furthermore, after having taken many French courses in college, I learned some grammar tips that I had never learned in my college courses. Genevieve understands what it is like to learn a new language, and a lot of what she went through in the learning process was extremely applicable to what I was learning in French. I looked forward to every lesson and she really cared about my improvements. I am so happy I found Genevieve and I still see the benefits of my lessons with her when I speak french today. Plus, she is a wonderful artist!

Genevieve is a great teacher! She is enthusiastic, kind, patient, and accommodating. I started weekly 1:1 lessons with her prior to an 8 week trip to France. She helped to explain the nuances, phrases, and things I just would not have learned in a large class. I looked forward to our weekly lessons. She loves her native language and that shines through when working with her. She is also quite clear and slow and does not get bothered by asking for help for the 10^th time! I would highly recommend Genevieve for any type of needed translations or lessons.
