Nice people. Salad was fresh. But the soup? It was more like a chowder and looks very unappetizing. The flavor was there, it tasted good but I couldn’t get over the look of it and the texture. I expected a brothy soup and I got a chunky chowder. Doubt I will be back anytime soon. $ 10+ for an 8oz soup and small salad is a bit absurd when compared with the competition.

I’m a fan of buttery rich, very seasoned, piping hot soup, but that’s not what’s served here. Lots of variety for soup options but the soup quality fares just above Panera. The Western African Peanut Chicken soup was tasty, like a peanut-y mild curry. Love the option of free cornbread. The bacon avocado sandwich was average, could see it being better grilled. The food is more of a three for me but the stellar service is top notch and was a nice surprise even in the thick of lunch hour.

These guys are really upbeat and friendly. It’s nice to stop in and have someone smile and chat while they make your food. The soups are always freshly made and ever changing. My favorites are any of their lentil soups. They also have salads and sandwiches and a rewards program if you eat lunch here often. Great spot for lunch if you’re in this spot of downtown and need a quick bite.

I work in the same building, so I come here when I’m gravely busy and need a quick lunch. I have never loved it and have always felt robbed after paying for what I get here because everything seems so absurdly overpriced, but it’s convenient. After today, though, I think I’m going to try to really avoid this place for good, even when I’m pressed for time. I came by for a 16 oz. cup of chicken tortilla soup about an hour ago. The charge was $ 6.99, and I added a tip. The guy at the counter did not offer me a piece of bread, which was usually offered, but I asked for one anyway. I went back to my desk and checked out the cup. Warm, yes, and even decently flavored, but there was zero chicken in there! I got a few tortilla strips and tomato chunks, though. So no bread offered, no chicken. Do I look like I couldn’t chew? I’ve wasted enough money here. Never again.

Great for a quick bite if you don’t want to leave the building. However, the staff can vary, and sometimes have quite the attitude. The food is average, but decent price for downtown.

Bought an oriental salad and it has a chemical taste. I had to throw it away after two bites. Waste of $ 9.00.

Little soup & sandwich spot on the ground floor of a office building near 4th& Union. I wasnt feeling too well at work the other day, I think the germs from the sick people in my office got to me. So I decided to get me some soup for lunch. Saw the Combo 1 where you get to choose a soup and get a whole grilled cheese sandwich. I ordered the classic chicken noodle to help me feel better and a grilled cheese on sourdough. There are tags to show which soup they are serving that day, some are gluten free as well as one lady was asking about that. Took about 5 minutes to get my order as they make the grilled cheese to order. My coworker got half a roast beef sub with soup as well.(Combo 2). I get back to my office, I get tomato soup instead of my chicken noodle. I looked at my bag and it says chicken noodle on it. I wasnt about to walk back to have it corrected. When I looked at the soup, I was wondering, is this tomato soup? I saw no chicken nor any noodles so it must be tomato soup since that is a classic pairing that may have confused them. The soup tasted quite bland, I didnt really taste anything. Good thing I grabbed a few saltine crackers so I added that to it and that made it so much better. Grilled cheese was actually quite tasty, melty and good size. My coworker liked his roast beef sandwich but he didnt like the veggie soup, it was lukewarm and he didnt even finish it. I would’ve given this place a 2 star but the sandwiches saved the day to bump it up to a 3 star. From my experience, a little dissappointed that this is a soup joint and their soups weren’t good, messed up my order, lukewarm and bland. They seemed friendly so I may give them another shot.

All of the soups are amazing. I love the new location on Eastlake. Not as busy as the others, but with all of the same menu items and an added view!

I’ve been going to this place for lunch for about 5 years now. Employees come and go and sure, you get the occasional below average experience but it has never been as bad as it is now. Today I ordered and paid for a 12 ounce chicken tortilla soup — I received 8 ounces with basically just broth and nothing else. There wasn’t a piece of chicken in my soup. The girl helping me was incredibly rude and rushed even though I was the only person in line. This is just my most recent experience. Unfortunately this review isn’t based on just one bad experience. — I have also waited for over 20 minutes for half a grilled cheese sandwich. — I’ve had my soups mixed up and my sizes wrong. — The soups are never consistent. One day their Chicken Wild Rice will be brothy and the next day it’ll have the consistency of Oatmeal. — I recently ordered my usual Chicken Caesar Salad wrap and they gave me something that was a third of the normal size, but the same price. — Sometimes I like to grab a breakfast sandwich from this location, but you never know when they open in the morning(even though their website says 9am, I’ve seen their doors still closed as late as 10:30). Oh, and don’t be surprised when their prices randomly go up overnight. I’m done wasting my time and money here. There are too many amazing lunch spots in Seattle to settle on this place.

Ehhhhh. The gigantic salads are no longer gigantic. There’s still lots of good toppings, but the huge square containers are now small round ones.

I frequent this little soup and sandwich shop a few times a week and I’ve yet to be disappointed. I’m a little shocked by the lack of stars for this place since it’s always busy at lunch hour! Come on people, review!!! I’ve enjoyed lots off their menu but really like their twisted caesar salad, the butternut squash soup as well as the broccoli poblano. I do wish they’d open a little earlier so I could grab a breakfast sandwich before work, but hey… just an excuse to go back for lunch!

I was sick with a sinus infection, so I wanted some soup. I got potato soup and a turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich. The service was great! The gentlemen working were very friendly. The soup was average, nothing really to brag about. The sandwich was very good though. They were very generous with the turkey portion.

Blerg. Gag. I was so pleased to find this place, because I was craving soup for lunch. I ordered the veggie soup. It contained a ridiculous amount of coarse black pepper. I actually started coughing. Despite the pepper, the soup still managed to be bland. The veggies were fresh, but overcooked – dissolving in my mouth in an unpalatable way. I think the prices are on the higher end for the type of food and seating they have. The staff was pleasant, and I didn’t get food poisoning. So, I gave them two stars instead of one. Shocker: I won’t be back.

What’s more better than a nice bowl of soup in a cold, rainy winter in Seattle? Possibly Starbuck’s coffee drinks that are literally in every corner in downtown? Frankly, I’d rather try out The Great Northwest Soup Company because of their concept, and originality. This place sure represents their mission statement: «we have a soup to delight your taste buds, satisfy your hunger and accommodate most nutritional needs.» The Great Northwest Soup Company’s mission statement is an actual fact because it sure satisfied my taste buds! I ordered the 12 oz chicken tortilla soup($ 4.99). Thinly slides chicken in a low sodium broth. Simply delicious, soothing, and very tasty! It warmed up my whole body. It also propelled me to walk and tour the city of Seattle in 32 degree weather. Brrrr… I highly recommend the chicken tortilla soup, plus the staff here are really friendly, and greet you with a smile. Another bonus: they serve 9 – 12 different types of soups daily, meaning you have an incredible selection to choose from!

I decided to try this place out since it’s in the same building where I have my internship. The staff are friendly, and they have a great selection of soup. I only give three stars though because their soup never tastes like I expect it to. The clam chowder was good, but as other reviewers have mentioned, the taste is a little off from what you’d expect. I also have tried the creamy chicken soup with white and wild rice. I was really looking forward to that one as it’s one of my favorites. Normally. I think they forgot the seasonings. Next time I’ll try a sandwich. Oh, and if you wear Seahawks gear on Seahawks Friday(the Friday before a home game), they will give you 10% off.

I go to school upstairs, so I end up getting this soup on occasion. Its pretty tasty and usually much faster than the starbucks across the room. Prices are a bit higher than I would prefer, but I love how they label each soup with things like vegan and vegetarian, etc. I do enjoy the moroccan lentil. It also comes with bread which is perfect to dip in your soup. They offer other menu options as well, including some items that are more breakfasty and sandwhichs and wraps. They do have a vegan wrap but I have yet to try it. Workers are knowledgeable about their products, my only complaint is that I do wish they would open a bit earlier, cause I really can eat soup at 8 in the morning. Yum.

I ended up here when my new love, Fusion on the Run, was nowhere to be found, sniff sniff. It isn’t fair to hold this against The Great Northwest Soup Company(TGNSC) though, so I’m rounding my 3.5 stars up to 4. It was a drizzly and dreary June day, perfect for a cup of soup. The place is tiny — I went in the«side» door, the one that actually opens into the shop, and couldn’t barely get in past the people waiting for their orders. Happily the line moves quickly — this is the soup version of Mod Pizza — so figure out what you want before you get in line. I went with the«Economic Stimulus» combo 1 — half a sandwich and an 8oz. cup of soup. For my sandwich, I picked grilled cheese on sourdough and it was quite good. Plain and basic, but that was what I was in the mood for. I went with their New England clam chowder and although it looked a little odd and didn’t quite taste like most store-bought clam chowders, it too was pretty good. Both items were very filling and stayed hot until I got back to the office. For under $ 7, I was happy and almost forgot about Fusion’s kalua pig tacos(but only almost).

3.5 Stars The Great Northwest Soup Company caught my eye a couple months ago and I finally made it in today. It’s easy to miss — teeny tiny and set back from the other storefronts. I was promptly greeted by the two young men working the line. They were helpful and friendly but lacking a little bit of professionalism. For example, when the lady in front of me took her food she said«thank you,» but they didn’t say it back. And when they told a couple customers they had sold out of turkey(!) and chicken salad, they said it very matter of factly without a hint of apology. It wasn’t rude, just a bit curt. But can’t expect too much from a couple of 19 year old dudes. Anyways, Great NW Soup Co has sandwiches(hot and cold), soup, salads, and wraps. There are also cookies and chips and drinks for sale. I wanted to do the half sandwich and cup of soup combo(I swear the sign said $ 5.99 but online states $ 7.49), but they were out of the sandwich I wanted so I ordered a Greek wrap($ 6.59 with tax) instead. It came with lettuce, tomatoes, kalamata olives, feta, bell peppers, cucumbers, red onion, and a zesty dressing, wrapped in a tomato tortilla(I think). I was expecting a pita type bread, but the tortilla was actually quite good. The young man told me there was hummus in the wrap, but I found no trace of hummus. The wrap was very tasty and the perfect size. Yummers! I didn’t have to wait very long either. There are more items listed in the store than on the online menu, FYI. I noticed a small breakfast menu, I think they serve breakfast from 8 — 11am. This place is very small, I mean the area where you line up and order is maybe three feet wide. There may be a couple tables outside(weather permitting), but generally TGNWSC is for to go orders. The Westlake location looks roomier. Starbucks is across the way and there are a couple chairs in the lobby. I would definitely consider coming back to TGNWSC for lunch, even though most of the sandwiches didn’t look that interesting to me(especially if they frequently run out of turkey and chicken). I should probably try the soup too, since I’d assume that’s what they do best!
