I had a great time at The Hideout! I got the Andy Warhol(a cosmo and a polariod) so that I could have a little piece of the bar to take home with me. Let’s talk about the music. I’m not sure if I went on a good night, but the DJ was straight FIRE. Every single song made me want to dance! He played a good mix of old school rap, pop, hip hop, everything I could ever want. Overall, a great bar that doesn’t try to fit in with the status quo. Loved it!

Quirky little spot and was indeed a hideout. Apparently they will take your picture if you order the Andy Warhol drink. Right next to Thai restaurant FYI

Came here for the art and the dive bar experience! It was a friend and me! I got one of the tasty drinks NOT on the menu and I was very pleased! The bartender knows what is going down! If you not sure where to go on a Tuesday, come here! Maybe a Sunday, come here! Ok fine any day! Ha

Greatest cocktails, one even comes with polaride photo, lots of cool arts, live DJ. Not too big, just right amount of crowd on sat 10PM.

Dark, cool, friendly… best of all less than a 2-minute walk from where I live. This is a great neighborhood/divey/oddish bar that is comfortable for anyone and everyone. Give it a shot.

Decent drinks, super cool ambiance, and very interesting customers. I just don’t think I fit in at this bar and I was expecting higher quality cocktails. But definitely come here at least for the visual experience!

This place is cool! Just moved to first hill and was stoked I had a bar across the street. Was hoping it didn’t suck. And it definitely does not. The staff is super nice, make awesome cocktails, and the vibe is juuuuuust right. I was worried it would be a bit«pretentious» with the whole art vibe and all, but I was pleasantly surprised. So stoked to become a regular and come here often for an after work drink!

drinks are OK here, but it’s a little over priced. I like the fact that they have a lot of nice paintings hanging around. But, over all I’m not a huge fan of the vibe in this bar.

Good strong drinks in a tucked away cocktail bar. The name isn’t a joke. From the outside you can’t see in and there is only one sign letting you know you made it. We passed by a couple times trying to find it. But once we got in we felt a real speekeasy vibe. Like we were in some secret society that few know about. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed with verious interesting art covering the walls. The service is a little slow sense there was only one guy working there but he kept a good attitude and worked hard to keep everyone pleased.

Super chill joint with great cocktails. I am capable of ordering 2. Food offerings could be a little better but love the ambiance of this place. So fun. The artwork is interesting and that fridge is so damn awesome.

The first time I wanted to meet friends there for a drink, I walked right past it. Twice. Sure, I may be directionally challenged, but there was no visible signage out when they first opened — which was the ultimate nod to the bar’s namesake. The staff is friendly and unassuming. It’s dark. They always play great music and have a ton of original art on the walls. I’ve have had the great fortune to never share the space with any tech-bros or douche bags. Let’s keep supporting spaces that are not the cookie-cutter, generic bars that are popping up all over the city. Keep doin’ what you’re doin’, Hideout.

This is one of the weirdest speakeasy-style bars I’ve been to in Seattle, located on Boren, which is outside of the nightlife zone of cap hill. It’s not exactly hidden, it’s one of those places which you won’t think of walking into based on the non-descriptive sign. Went there for a friend’s birthday on a weekday evening. It was surprisingly occupied for a weekday. The inside is not too huge, and is decorated with classic old furniture and chandeliers, and paintings on the wall you can actually buy. It is a cross between hipster and classy. The ambiance is more dark, sit down and soft-spoken, good for dates. They also have a vending machine with art pieces, which make for good conversation topics. The drinks are too good. We all got cocktails, and I tried the random thought, which is a scotch whisky based drink, and andy warhol, which is like a cosmopolitan, with a polaroid picture of yourself and your friends. I thought it was just a joke, till the bartender came out with the camera. I saw the bartender creating the drinks, and could see him putting the time and effort in each of our drinks. They also turned out to be excellent. If I was only rating based on cocktails, this was a five-star without a second thought. We got the mezze sampler to eat, which was ok, nothing special. The service was decent. Attentive, but not too friendly or warm. No complains though. I loved the place, and would definitely go often if it was in a better location, and more accessible. Totally recommend the hideout if it’s the only place you’re planning to go to for the night, or want to start-off here, and then hike up the hill to the pine/pike area.

All five stars go to the bar staff. Not only are they are inventive and incredibly talented, but they are all wonderful people that love what they do. Lauren the bar manager has been around the block and I personally witnessed how she can tackle orders from the entire establishment AND manage to crank out food orders. She was the only one working this past Thursday and she totally rocked it!!! Another shout out to Elias for making me a drink based off my meager description: something with Cynar; a take on a Ferrari(fernet and campari). I’m normally not someone who typically enjoys *neat* drinks, but his concoction made it easy for me to ask for another. This place rocks!

Quirky, tucked away bar serving tasty cocktails with silly names. The art will entertain you, and they have an art dispenser(like a vending machine of sorts) in the back. Fairly clean and large bathroom.

A bit of a strange place tucked away on Boren. The Hideout is aptly named as I wouldn’t have guessed it was there from the outside. The vibe is pretty chill and it’s definitely more a sit down and chat rather than build up any energy(so don’t go if you’re half asleep!) but the drinks list is interesting and the bartenders quite competent. I enjoyed my quick stop in before heading out to dinner. Also, it looks like you can buy any of the art on the walls so think of it as a cross between a hipster art gallery and a speakeasy.

My favorite bar when I was living in the First Hill area. This location seems very inconspicuous, but I promise it’s a hidden gem that is waiting to be uncovered. The cocktails are always on point, the service is good, and the ambiance is romantic yet relaxed. Great place to catch happy hour with coworkers/friends as well! Note: there food menu is limited since they receive their food from Vitos, which is down the street, so don’t come too hungry, but do come thirsty!

Dark and broody, the Hideout is a getaway in Capitol Hill from the noise and distractions of Broadway and the mainstream partygoers. Its walls are adorned with original art pieces, and their bar has everything including an R-rated art vending machine, and crafty bartenders who make great drinks to quell your cravings. Great seating and standing space for crowds, and an excellent sound system that really bumps out the good bass on whatever tracks the live DJs are spinning.(Highly recommend checking out Alizé Chamillionaire and Dj absolute madman). Instafan of the style, art, tunes, drinks, and service here.

This is where I will take out of towners forever and ever. Awesome lounge feel, not too crowded, and an intimate setting that’s prime for good conversation. With the art collection that lines the walls of this joint, you’ll never run out of things to talk about. Don’t underestimate the simplicity of the Bicycle Thief drink — it’s a game changer.

Local artist bar with a unique flair! All over the walls, art surrounds you that is available for purchase. I used the art dispenser while I was here and got a mini book. They have a drink called the Andy Warhol… It comes with a Polaroid! The DJ was great too! We danced the night away.

Brought here by a local and zeroed straight in on the Solange. Not enough good things can be said for this cocktail. I thoroughly enjoyed it as well as my time at the Hideout.

I don’t know what I was expecting from the Hideout except Polaroids. I’m a sucker for Polaroids. So upon getting to the bar, I just told them my preference for flavor, was recommended a spicy ginger concoction(I forget the name) with just an additional fee for the Polaroid. I’m an easy girl to please. Cocktails were decent and stiff. I enjoyed the burn of mine going down my throat. The boyfriend did not but he also did not enjoy the habenero cider I had chugged down a few months before so to each his own. He got something stronger, resembling an old-fashioned, which was a bit peaty for his taste but he enjoyed it nonetheless. The venue reminds me of a speakeasy meets gothic architecture. I envisioned something more intimate but the high ceilings and Victorian-esque décor does not scream Prohibition era caldestine activities. I enjoyed the cozy seating but head’s up, this place is not only dark in mood, but literally dark. I could probably trip on something if I ingested several more drinks. The atmosphere, art, and vending machine machine make for great conversation but I felt that it was a bit too loud to really enjoy myself. Would only check out again if I’m in the area. But would probably spend too much time there if I lived nearby.

Hidden little bar on First Hill. Love this atmosphere of a lounge/bar with art everywhere. The décor was so nice and classy yet had that urban Seattle feel to it. The drinks were great! Not too expensive and delicious. Highly recommend this if you’re in First Hill.

The Hideout is a down-played-yet-still-flashy watering hole for First Hill locals. In a way, it is a good representation of Seattle’s art culture which seems almost to mock itself. The atmosphere here is mainly ironic alternative exclusivity(hipsters) which I highly prefer over sports, crap beer, and misogyny enthusiasts(bros). You can’t help but feel 2 cool 4 school while sitting on the couch in dim lighting sipping a $ 10 cocktail. It’s really nice to hang out here on a quiet rainy night and have a few drinks with friends. The artwork on the walls is as unique as the artwork in the art vending machine, and the women’s bathroom is well decorated. They have a publication of artwork with contributions from patrons of the bar. You may have your drunken scribbles featured in their Vital 5 Review so other drunk people can admire your attempts at meaningful doodles. While this is a nice place to spend a quiet evening, it is not recommended to go here for big events. They had an anniversary party a few months back and invited too many people for what the venue would be able to handle. The result was wall to wall people, no where to sit, and an hour wait for a drink in an uncontrolled line. With no line control or alternative means to speak to anyone about closing out my tab, I ended up having to be a huge jerk to whoever I could get eye contact with behind the bar just so I could leave with my friends.(it still took half an hour).
Although this is the exception and not the rule, I am weary of returning here(especially after snapping at the person behind the bar, which happened to be the manager). The fact that this is of the few surviving no-bro zones that exist near the hill makes it worth checking out at least once.

Great prices, kind of dark in here if you come out from a sunny day but a fun chill vibe definitely worth checking out if you’re around. Wouldn’t bring big groups here but deafly good for groups of less than 10.

$ 10 – 14 cocktails and they’re goooood. It’s kind of a funny spot, on boren near the hospital, but I like that – it’s never super crowded. Interesting mix of décor, with some weird graffiti-style art and tables nailed to the floor made out of giant hunks of frosted glass. Also a velvet couch I think. Not a ton of places to sit overall. It’s one of those places that have a fresh haircut-tattoo-fancy vest-trendy beard requirement of the bartenders. I don’t know if there’s food, but I’ve never seen anyone eating here.

This place is awesome!!! I live right around the block and I always mean to go here more often. However, I’d say it’s best to go here earlier in the night to avoid the crowd that can sometimes jam in here. The drink menu is extensive and the cocktails have a playful spin on them. The art work on the walls is weird and wonderful and easy to get lost in. It’s very unassuming on the outside but its trendy and cozy on the inside. Be daring and order the bartender’s choice. You may find something you never knew you loved!

I’ve gone once, but I want to go back. (Hopefully when they’re busier than the weeknight I went.) Get an Andy Warhol, it’s good AND… YOUGET A POLAROID! :-D To make it more interesting, get two or ten other drinks before your Warhol. ;-p Also… I dig the art vending machine. CREATIVE and highly TEMPTING! ;-p

Came here with Jill R. after a night at Town Hall after hearing her talk about how amazing it is. and as much as she pumped it up, it lived up to all expectations. Really tasty drinks and neat ambience. It really feels like a secret getaway. My favorite drink was either the Land Shark(tastes like fire) or the custom drink — the option to ask the bartenders to make a drink based off a couple flavors/spirits. Gin, florals, spice… made something super tasty that I could only hope to have again. One note — the art is really an eclectic mix. Yes, as a bar, everyone’s 21+, but if you’re in company that’s uncomfortable with naked cupid statues etc., the Hideout is not for you.

It’s surprisingly not crowded for a bar of its caliber. That probably has to do with its being a little bit out of the way. But I’d rather make this very modest trek than stand outside some bar and wait in the rain to be a paying customer. I meannnn I do that sometimes anyway(cuz I’m a sucker) but it’s nice when you don’t have to. You know those annoying people who have sticks up their butts about how they like their drinks? I’m toooootally one of them. Drinks are not low calorie or cheap — so when I drink something, I better like the hell out of it. I ordered mostly classic cocktails(Old Fashioned, Negroni) and thoroughly enjoyed everything I had. The bartenders were pleasant and very knowledgable. My old fashioned in an absinthe wash(yes, kind of like a sazerac but not really) wasn’t fizzy or overpowered by the absinthe taste. It was a perfectly balanced drink. I also really liked the artwork on the walls. All paintings are for sale(I believe with the exception of the naked lady with the oranges) and are made by local artists. There is also a vending machine with art-related things in it(or so I was told… I didn’t approach it close enough to see). Lastly, I like that this place is mysteriously. It’s super dark yet comfortable inside. The seating is conducive to some major eye flirting. Well maybe with the lights(or lack thereof), it’s conducive to a lot of squinting to see who you’re with but still! It’s sexy. At the same time, it’s casual enough not to feel pretentious. It doesn’t overdo itself though so I know I’m still in Seattle rather than a Vegas bar that is trying its hardest. I’m sure I will be back.

The Hideout is tons of fun, if you can find it. The small dark door isn’t the easiest to find, but I love the speakeasy feel complete with bartenders wearing white collars and bowties. It is dark and there are lots of nice little nooks for sitting. The bar always has plenty of people sitting right at it, which I am not used to. There are tons of varied paintings hanging from every space on the wall. Décor and bathrooms are pretty and fairly clean. I’ve only been here on the first Sundays, which are karaōke nights. The karaōke guy(Ketten company) is a professional. Good rotation, good sound, great song selection. A good time is always had by all!
