The Landing at Northcut

Note: I’ve never been to this location before. I will one day because of how great the people over at the Landing are. The reason why I’m writing this review is to talk about the new location, The Landing at Tyee on Lake Union.
I’ve been throwing New Year’s parties for four years now and needed to find a location for 2015. I reached out to The Landing at Northcut but unfortunately, they were booked that night. My contact over at the Landing at Northcut, Peter Olson, asked if I was interested in throwing the party at The Landing at Tyee on Lake Union (Formerly the Tyee Yacht Club). I agreed to take a look at the place before committing.
When I got there, I was blown away from the venue. The first thing you notice when you get to the main floor is the outdoor patio. They have an amazing view of the lake and plenty of room for people to mingle. Inside the venue is a fairly large space. When we were there, tables were set up for a large dinner party and it looked very elegant. After viewing the place for a few minutes, I told Peter I was interested and began working with him for about a month on this event. I will tell you one thing, Peter Olson is the best person to work with when throwing a special event. This guy will respond to his emails within five minutes and is always very helpful. His recommendations for personnel, specifically bartenders and security guards, were impeccable. We had the best bartenders and security guards and will definitely be doing business with Peter and his crew very soon.
Peter doesn’t know this yet, but I was sold on the venue the moment I walked in. The venue is very nice and I’ve seen pictures of weddings that were thrown in the past (

If the Landing at Northcut is not available, please consider The Landing at Tyee on Lake Union. This venue is definitely an excellent choice for any special venue.

We held our wedding at The Landing in July, and it was absolutely perfect! Peter couldn’t have been easier or more pleasant to work with. He met with us on several occasions to discuss layout, options, and just to make sure we were happy. He really knows his space and how to set it up for the best flow and layout for your needs and guest list. We had 100 people and there was plenty of room to move around, dance, and mingle.
The free parking in the garage below was an added bonus, as were the clean restrooms. There is also a full bar and a balcony in this venue, which provided the perfect ambiance. In addition, Peter is open to any caterer (many venues have a specific list of caterers you can choose from) and provided some recommendations from who he has worked with in the past. The caterer recommendation was also fantastic. (We went with Ben from Pyramid Catering, and received many compliments from the guests.)
I just can’t say enough great things about this venue. The lighting and entire space itself is modern, yet glamorous. Everything turned out perfectly on our big day, thanks in large part, to Peter and his help at The Landing. You get more than you pay for with this venue. The Landing at Northcut is an excellent choice for your next event.

We had our wedding reception here last month, and It could not have gone more smoothly. The space is really classy and modern, with black leather sofas, different kinds of tables and heights, a very elegant full bar. Peter was amazingly helpful to work with! He was very accessible, and unbelievably helpful. He has so many different ideas on how to use to the space, and he can help customize it with different colored lighting and arrangements. You can bring your own alcohol and food, there’s plenty of free parking, a grand piano, air conditioning. This place is definitely worth considering, because it’s beautiful and incredibly flexible. I’m so thankful that we chose the landing!!! I couldn’t be happier with how everything went.

We held a graduation party at The Landing. It was fabulous! Our guests loved the evening and the space is so hip it doesn’t need much in the way of decorating. The owner was very responsive and easy to work with. We would hold another event here in a heartbeat!

The Landing has hosted our organization’s last three annual Galas and the facility has always been open and willing to accommodate our needs. The layouts have varied from year to year, but we haven’t had complaints by our patrons and we are looking forward to using the facility again this coming October. I would suggest using the venue and work well ahead of time as it is a busy location.

Deciding to use this venue has been an absolute nightmare. Due to unfortunate circumstances I had to cancel my wedding at this venue. I was outside of the 90 day period (as stated by contract) so I could get my deposit back. Peter promised me over 5 times that he would give me my deposit back. That was in november. It is now February and I have not received my check still. I had my lawyer e mail him in January to give me my check back and he promised once again he would and now I am going to small claims court. This could have been easily avoided if he did his business better. He also lets people view his venue while other weddings were going on. I asked if I could have my mom and sister view his venue and he said Sure No problem! When we got there, there was another wedding going on and it made me very uncomfortable. He did not even inform me that there was a wedding going on so I was shocked when I got there. I definitely do not want people walking in on my wedding reception to view the space. Very bad experience and now I have to deal with the stress of small claims court. I will never refer this venue to anyone. It’s a nice modern venue but very poor business and not the place I’d like to get married.

We just had our wedding at the landing this past weekend and it could not have been better! The venue is so nice and Peter allows you to do with it what you want. Can’t say enough great things about this place.

This is a beautiful venue if you’re looking for a banquet facility for office holiday parties, weddings or meetings. There’s plenty of garage parking and it’s not too far off from 520 as it’s across the street from University Village. The space is modern and clean. The restrooms are easily accessible off the elevator. There’s even a bar/​kitchen setup available. It’s also pretty private so you are less likely to get any party crashers.

I went to a wedding at this place last Saturday. The wedding was very nice, but I wasn’t feeling the venue.
It is a space of concrete and steel, so it is LOUD and noisy when the room is full. It was packed with wedding guests who had to raise their voices just to talk to the person next to them. The wedding was at 5PM and the late afternoon sun was shining brightly in the eyes of some who were seated at the ceremony. There were tall tables set too near the bar, so it made the bar area way too congested to get to. Bathrooms were not checked hourly (probably not throughout the whole evening) because one stall was out of seat covers every time I went in there. The garbage can of paper towels was overflowing.
The balcony was a nice respite from the stuffiness and loudness of the room. The lovely planters had just been watered before the event and the water made puddles on the balcony. You should have seen that poor brides train! It made for fun puddle jumping for the kids and lots of that dirty water splashed on to the pants and ankles of guests.
There was a spilled drink in front of the bar and everyone was walking through it. It was slippery on the concrete floor and I felt that was a safety issue so I let the bartender know. He told me he couldn’t do anything about it because he was out of rags. REALLY? Does the venue not have a mop? That bartender may have been hired by the wedding party, so maybe I shouldn’t be so hard on that point.
Venue aside, I’d give the wedding 5 stars because the bride was gorgeous, the music was OK, there were fun things (photo booth, caricature artist, etc.), and best of all FUN GUESTS.
One last thing, PARKING!!! Although it was free and convenient, there was not a valet. The parking spaces were very small. I drive a small car and I couldn’t imagine getting mid size or larger vehicle into one without having to make the passengers get out first or having to crawl over to the passenger seat to get in or out.

I think a wedding space is a lot about heart. And about the love, respect, and patience of the staff. I booked this space for my wedding and met with the owner, Peter, believing that this was in fact, the case. And then I got very sick and started Chemotherapy… When we realized we had to cancel the wedding, Peter promised me 7 (that’s SEVEN) times, that we could have our deposit back. We were not only not getting married, but we were drowning in medical bills. Seven times he promised, and 7 times I followed up when no refund was given, and then he just stopped answering my emails altogether. Mind you, I understand a business is a business, but I’d like to think that there are still people in this world that feel for you when horrible things happen. That actually care about the wellness of others. That’s the kind of person I would want to have my money and business – Especially for a wedding.
Much to my incredible sadness, the Landing is not that place :(Be careful if you do business here. There is no heart at this location.

We had my boyfriend’s birthday party here. Everything was fabulous. The staff were amazing, the food was incredible. They actually had a number of options for gluten-​free appetizers, including some amazing rolls they make in-​house. I loved it!
