The Mac Store

Don’t go here. Decceptive sales. Said the warranty on their items was better than the Apple Store. But its not their warranty. You have to return items to the manufacturer after 30 days. At 33 days they told me I was out of luck and to take a hike. I will not go here again. Stick with the Apple store for better customer service and honest people.

I was not fortunate in this store. Took my new Ipad air for repair, was told the connection was unfixable. After i paid $ 300.00 for what at first i thought was a new replacement,
I noticed in the paperwork it was refurbished.
One week later the replacement Ipad stopped working altogether.
The person I believe to be manager, or owner, was not pleasant to talk to and i felt was not taking responsibility. Said he sends them out. I told them I wanted my money back, or a new ipad.
I couldnt wait to leave.
No money back, this refurbished replacement has been sent back for check.
I will be going to UVillage now for apple issues.

I got a call, thats they don’t know why the IPad failed but its fine now and please pick it up!!!
If there had been nothing wrong with it, why did diagnostics accept it !!!

Im calling this an unfortunate loss for myself, and ubad business. I mean they’re keeping my money. Im stuck with a refurbished ipad that failed in a week, and a loss of not only my original ipad, but 400 dls.

It takes a lot to make me mad. I’ve dealt with waitresses that give poor service, I’ve dealt with horribly made food, I’ve dealt with kids in their first job out of high school messing up service… and that kind of stuff is forgivable. But when a store gives you the run around, tells you rudely with a snotty attitude that only a UW college student would have, «Sure, we’ll replace your cord… for $ 19.99», makes you wait for a manager, you call the Apple helpline and get faster service (and still no manager available to assist), told to be patient by the hotline because your apple plan covers this kind of thing, and then after finally speaking with the manager and him explaining they wouldn’t replace a cord covered by warranty because it had strain evidence (even though the issue has continued to happen by multiple amounts of cords apple brand or 3^rd party whether there were «strain» evidence or not… btw…the strain evidence was there for months and I’d still had my phone charging flawlessly) after over an hour of bull and waiting, finally explained that the store isn’t actually run by Apple and they don’t have to replace cords… you tell them to eff off and stop wasting people’s time.
Walked into an actual Apple Store in U-​Village on a very busy Sunday and they helped me within seconds replacing the cord and logging the issue in case it happened again. What would have taken 10 minutes to resolve (and pennies cost to their store), apparently was better spent wasting the customers time and creating a very stressful situation. This place doesn’t care about the Apple customer. They care about their bottom line. Which I hope poor customer service is part of that bottom line and they’ll learn their lesson.

I’ve purchased several items from this location and I’ve had no problems. They have great selection and the service is top notch. The problem is, you’re under the impression that this store is run under the Apple umbrella but it is not. Their warranty is not equivalent to Apple’s warranty. I tried to return an item to the apple store (Bellevue) and they won’t take it because it’s was not purchased in an Apple store.

Great first impression. Came into the store with my 3yo Macbook Pro — I wanted to upgrade my RAM (so the computer would run faster). The Apple Store does not do this in-​house, for the record. Called The Mac Store (a.k.a. Simply Mac) in advance but was told they only do drop-​in appointments. Made it to the store later that day (weekday, lunchtime), waited about 5−10mins to get helped, and the process of upgrading my RAM took no more than 20mins.
Drew was the one who helped me. Answered all my questions (as I’m not very techy myself) and was pleasant, helpful, and efficient :) Will definitely try to find him again next time I’m there.
Did some price comparison later online, and saw similar parts costing about $ 65-​$ 75. So, for a quick $ 100 including labor (and not having to wait for my items to arrive in the mail), I felt pretty good about the expense. And, yes, my computer runs much better these days. Definitely recommend these guys for any of your mac needs! Free parking in the lot across from Petco.

Friendly service and well organized shop. The Apple store recommended me to come here since they were out of the particular memory sticks I needed and I was out of warranty. The genius bar guy said it would probably cost me only $ 60 or so for it but guess he was wrong. I paid a bit more than I expected for adding memory to my old computer but I didn’t want to chance messing it up installing it myself so it ended up being more like $ 165. I didn’t mind that so much, my only gripe is the screws underneath my laptop aren’t screwed in all the way very well. Two of them aren’t flush and are sticking out quite a bit and I’m going to have to find a small screwdriver to fix it. Hopefully its not a reflection of their attention to detail that went into installing my memory sticks, but so far all is working as it should.

Run far far away. Really.
I went in Thursday on my way to Best Buy to see if it was worth buying from The Mac Store instead. I took my old laptop and they told me that for $ 99 they would migrate everything from my old computer to theirs. Since I was there and I would have only saved $ 20 by buying from Best Buy I decided to go ahead and give them a shot. After I paid for my computer and their $ 99 iCare (for the migration and «quicker customer service» they told me they would do it on Friday. I told them I had to have it by Monday as I was flying out of town for work. They ASSURED me that wouldn’t be a problem.
No call from them on Friday. I called near the end of business, and the sales guy said they were going to do it Monday because techs weren’t in on the weekend. I then spoke with the manager and he said it would be done on Saturday.
I called Saturday an hour before they closed and they had just started. The migration had 3 hours and 8 minutes left. The manager, Niko, told me it should finish overnight, and to call back at noon when they opened on Sunday.
I called at noon, and the tech said the migration had messed up, «but it looks like it just started again. 3 hours and 8 minutes left.» He said they would call back in a few hours.
3 hours and 45 minutes later, still no call. I called them.
Their response: «The migration didn’t work. But we downloaded everything to our server and now we’re uploading it to another hard drive and then migrating it to your computer. But it won’t be done tonight.»
So I’m out of luck for my work trip tomorrow. I spent more than I would have at Best Buy. AND paid an additional $ 100 for «priority service.» And feel really screwed.
They’ve PROMISED someone will call me back tonight and let me know the status. I know all they’re going to say is «it’s not going to be done tonight.»
If they really gave half a $%#t, they’d call back and say «it’s not done yet, but I know we assured you it would be done TWO days ago, so we’re going to have a manager stay a couple extra hours tonight until it’s done.
I’m guessing the chances of that are zero. Hope they prove me wrong. I’d gladly change the review.
Until then… Lesson learned. Stay away.

So frustrating. Called THREE times and they don’t answer their phone. Then I did a «service request». I hate to say it but this has been my worst computer service experience. One star. @themacstore #badservice #apple PULL that franchise.

To start with they had my computer for almost a week and did nothing with it. They did not even run diagnostics beyond the basic ones they did when checking the computer in. When I called in to check on progress they just said it was «too soon to say» and when I pressed for answers they admitted that the computer had been sitting there and nothing had been done yet.
They could have warned me how long the wait would be to have my computer looked at before I dropped the off and paid the fee that the charge to even check in a computer. If my computer had been non-​functional when I checked it in the delay would be annoying, but I wouldn’t have had the choice to use it while I waited. This computer was functional, so I could have been using all this week if they had been honest about their wait times. I would had gladly brought it back sometime when they were less busy or brought it to another store if I had known the wait would be this long.
I would have never gone here except that the Apple store was unable to repair my computer because they can’t order the parts any more. Really odd policy on Apple’s part to allow a third party to order the parts but not their own technicians.
After three weeks, they told me what they thought the problem was. It was not what the Apple Store thought the problem was, and sounded like just a symptom of the main problem rather than problem itself. They wanted quite a lot of money for the part they thought the computer needed plus labor and since the computer was 5 years old I decided it was not worth paying that much to repair it. To their credit they did not charge me any more for diagnostics or their time spent on this diagnosis. It did cost me about $ 60 when it would have been free at the Apple Store.
Not impressed with how slow they were and I will not be returning to this store.

I am extremely impressed with this place. The service was great! So glad I didn’t have to sit through the young techie talks at the Apple store, admonishing me for being a «non-​techie».
My dead laptop data was successfully resurrected (even though they thought they couldn’t) and loaded onto my new computer that I purchased from them.
This is my new «go-​to» place!

A key on my MacBook Air’s keyboard came off, and the Mac Store replaced it for free! I didn’t have an appointment, so I had to wait for a while, but they had comfortable seating and free wifi.

The first time I came here there was no wait. The second time I waited but had an appointment so I didn’t wait long. The third time I came here all I needed was to pick up my computer and I still had to check in and wait my turn to simply pick up my already paid for computer. I only had a very small window of time and I expressed this to the sales associate. He didn’t respond respectfully and wasn’t understanding of my problem and my needs. He simply told me that I had to wait. I won’t be coming here again. Slow and they don’t care that people have better things to do than sit around and wait to pick up my OWN computer. Terrible. I accidentally clicked 3 stars and now I am not able to go back and click on 2, but if I could I would. Or even 1 star. Terrible!

The people who greet you and help on the floor are sweet. However, I wouldn’t come back for assistance again. I brought in my air and was met with standoffish, almost condescending service — and yet the person helping me had to be prompted to look up information he did not know. A poor experience overall.

I had a very disappointing experience today at this store. The Manager, Michael, acted annoyed, bothered and uppity as we asked what appeared to him as novice questions. He was not able to guide us when buying a case for our son’s new iPad. Once he even rolled his eyes. This is the second time he has helped us at this store. Neither time did he provide good service..

We have used the Mac Store no fewer than 5 times in the last 4 years. They are my go-​to place when I inevitably kill my macbook by spilling liquid on it (I’ve done it 4 times and still haven’t learned my lesson).
Aside from not giving me the side-​eye (like my husband does), they extract my data (and family photos that I failed to back up) every time like pros. They have NEVER not been able to get the info off the computer, which is amazing (even the Sprite spilling incident of 2010 was no match for them).
Recently I killed another macbook and they were able to pull all my data and get it onto a drive I supplied. When I got the drive home it wasn’t being recognized by my new Macbook. I took it back in and got a VERY helpful help desk tech.
I missed his name but he mentioned he is an Eagle Scout… no wonder why he’s so good at his job. I’m guessing there are not a ton of Eagle Scouts working there (although that would be awesome) so if you need someone who is going to keep working until they get to the bottom of the issue, ask for him– I’d assume he goes by Mr. Eagle Scout.
Anyway, after nearly 45 minutes of trying all sorts of McGyver moves, he finally figured out that my drive’s ports were malfunctioning, but he was able to cobble together a series of cords that worked in the one remaining port. For $ 50 in parts I am now able to use the external hard drive that I had brought in to them (so he essentially did a ton of tech work on something I didn’t even buy from them).
All in all, I’m a happy customer and will continue to go back for their assistance with all my Mac products– and I’m considering sippy cups only around my electronics.
The only reason I didn’t give them a 5 is due to the less friendly front desk person who refused to release my computer to me since my husband had dropped it off for me (both our names are in their system). After showing ID, verifying address etc, he still wouldn’t release it to me since their policy requires my hubby to state I can pick up the computer at the time of drop off (even if I’m in their system). Then, when my hubby finally called me back, they refused to talk to him on my cell– they have to call him from their phones. I get there is protocol and they don’t want to release a computer to the wrong person, but it was pretty silly the lengths they went to when they could clearly tell I’m in their system as well– I’m guessing that guy was not an Eagle Scout.

These guys are now a preferred store for Apple… And it’s not even an ‘Apple Store’ owned by Apple. Nice work guys! Great customer service by almost all staff is what keeps me coming back. :)
I did knock down a star for inventory levels, plus a semi-​rude overheard manager telling his tech to tell me a canned response of «starting with minimum 3 days» service time when he didn’t know it was about me and I was standing next to him. It was for a simple automated software service and I became the first one in the wait list too.
In general it seems that things I need at this Mac Store location (the only one I’ve been to and MANY times at that) are often not in stock and need to be brought up from Portland. Not a huge inconvenience but ya know how when your computer, but NOW your iPhone AND iPad problems arise, time is more and more of the essence. Turnaround for service and/​or parts needs to be a bit faster than a standard «3 days» and managers should be a bit more tactful as well. I will continue to go to this store unless there is another service problem.

The associates in the store where very friendly, and didn’t treat me like a dum dum. I did try calling a few times but the number listed here, and on their own website while being the same… Is disconnected. So that’s one of the reasons why I am not going full five. The other reason though?
See, I’m no Roy Trennenman, but I’m no Jen Barber either. I get by quite nicely and can do things on my own. So when I wanted to buy some RAM I was not thrilled with having to pay an extra $ 30 for it to be installed. I know how to do it, and it only takes about five minutes (and that’s when you’re being super careful). When you buy things like that elsewhere you’re given the choice of doing things yourself, or to pay extra to have the store do it.
Aside from the bad phone number and not giving me the option to pay and install myself it’s a great store. They also have a great inventory, and beautiful hours. And they just further make me happy I made the switch from Gates to Jobs.

My laptop is old and I mean OLD. It is a MacBook that dates back to 2006, maybe 2007? Get this: I’ve never updated anything on it. No operating system update, no space update. Nada. After it running slow for the past year, having a minor screen issue, and recently having my fellow’s dog chew up the cord to my charger, I decided I needed some professional help and a new charger. Off to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store I go. After telling the Genius Bar help my tale of laptop woe she gave me suggestions on what I needed to do to update my OS. After listing the fixes she told me I should stop by The Mac Store on 45^th to see if they could add more RAM and work on my screen issue.
45 minutes later I am at The Mac Store. I was third in line but was attended to quickly. Michael was the one to help me and he was easy to talk to and answered my multitude of questions with ease. For about $ 42 I purchased a gigabyte of RAM and had it installed. While I was waiting I browsed the laptops on sale and much to my delight saw that trade ins were accepted. Not only can you trade in your old laptop for some money off the original price of a new one but you can even finance if you need.
When I am ready to pay to fix my current screen issues or whenever I can save enough money for a brand spanking new laptop I will without a doubt be heading back to The Mac Store.

First off the customer service and in home technician were very prompt, professional, and knowledgable.
I had a difficult problem. They showed up and tried to help. I was charged without the problem being fixed but after talking with abatement I got a whole refund.

The Apple store in U-​Village actually sent me here when my iMac I had questions about proved to be too old to merit being serviced by the Genius Bar staff (I get it, I could have not used their attitude). Not only was the Mac Store able to get me the RAM I needed for my 5 year old iMac, they also installed it for me– I know all it involves is removing a little screen and a couple of screws, but I’m also very prone to breaking stuff, so it was a gesture I appreciated. I spent probably 20, 25 minutes here tops, and wound up paying about $ 75 less than I was expecting. Score! On top of that, i wasn’t treated like I was a stupid girl because I needed some RAM– I’ve had some issues at other electronics stores where the male staff rolled their eyes and thought I wouldn’t know what I was talking about. Totally not the case here.
There is a parking lot across the street from this place– I’ve never had any issues finding parking here, which is also a nice touch.
