Went there to watch a friends band and gotta say I was not impressed. It was a busy Friday night with 3 bands playing and they ran out of Coors Light at 10pm, then they ran out of Bud Light 20 minutes later. I know it is crap beer, but when I have to drive, I tend to just have a couple of light beers, but nope they somehow ran out of both light beers before the 2nd band even came on. OK, guess I will just have one tall mixed drink and sip it. all night. I ordered a tall vodka soda with a splash of pineapple juice, but nope, was told they were also out of pineapple juice. OK… how about a few lemons squeezed in. NOPE also out of lemons as well. Good freaking grief. How are you out of so many staples of a bar? I asked if someone forgot to stock the bar before it opened and she said, «no, why do you ask». Like running out of basic bar inventory was completely normal. Final fun part of the night was when I get my tab and I see it has a beer on it I did not order. There were charges for a beer on my tab I have never drank in my life. I told her, that was not mine and she said, «well did you buy it for someone» I said no. She then said, «well maybe someone put it on your tab?» I told her I had not authorized anyone to use my tab and i did not order the beer so please take it off. Of course, I got a bit of an attitude as they tried to delete it off my bill. All and all, not really impressed.

I don’t often bother reviewing a place I didn’t really get to try. It feels less than fair. Then again, when the problem is that you feel ignored, and would LIKE to have tried the place, well… I had to say something. 2 Stars are my «benefit of some doubt.» This was actually back in March. Weeknight, wandering around with a friend. We didn’t even think it was open at first, and were bummed, because we saw the Cajun food sign and wanted to check that out. Just as we were peeking around, a guy by the door was like come on in! We’ll have music soon, and there’s food and drink. Okay. So we go in. It’s kinda decrepit but in a sorta cool way, I mean they’ve done it on purpose and then let it go. I guess. I’m fine with some funky. We were sort of enjoying ogling the strange place. And ogling. And ogling. Because even though there was a bartender, and maybe two people AT the bar(probably the non-cooking cooks) and no other customers, no one else spoke to us after door dude. The door dude disappeared. Could not smell ONEWHIFF of a kitchen, good or bad. It was kinda like«Come in and have some food and fun… psyche!» Didn’t think we should have to yell for service, and honestly, the vibe felt strange, and we didn’t want to yell anyway. No one seemed to notice or care we left, either. Now, if this is some of that old«good, don’t let the door hit you, we don’t need you…» Um…yes, yes you do need customers. And I was over that attitude before it started. UGH. Can you please STOPIT, SEATTLE? I’d think on a slow night you’d WANT some money. Guess not? It wasn’t early, either, so if there was a band, they must have changed their minds, too? Maybe music and drinks are fun here, but I have no idea. Probably never will.

The Muffaletta I had at The Mix wasn’t made incorrectly. On the contrary, it had all the requisite ingredients necessary to recreate this classic sandwich. The cured meats, the cheese and a really tasty tapenade. Sadly, though, it was stale. Putting bread in the refrigerator will not prevent bread from going stale, it just slows down the process. It wasn’t the end of the world, just a little off-putting. I ate the whole thing, because I was really hungry. I was sad, as well, because it was obvious that they knew what they were doing in the kitchen, but The Mix isn’t busy enough to push through their inventory and the staff isn’t disciplined enough to toss out stuff the wasn’t up to high standards. If I had eaten this sandwich the day after it was assembled, this would be an entirely different review. I generally don’t give bad reviews, but in this series you’re going to be exposed to some sandwiches that, for a variety of reasons, just didn’t work out. On the other hand, if I had a crap sandwich from a crappy place, I wouldn’t write about it. I’m only going to write about the misses from places that are good or have potential and The Mix has potential. The potato salad, which was fresh, was phenomenal. They know how to cook, they just have to maintain some standards. Easier said than done sometimes. The Mix is a small club and music venue by night and bar/café by day. I’m not sure that many people even know they serve food. You need a steady stream of customers to make a restaurant run smoothly and they’re not even remotely there yet. I wish them well.

I love this place! Constantly has the best bands in rotation and amazing food and bar variety. I come here almost every weekend and the staff is genuinely nice and are happy to have you. If you want to have a good night out this is the place to come.

This place is a magical music venue(that also serves food!). They seem to have something going on most nights of the week. I particularly like the Wednesday open mic which seems to be one part open mic and one part Georgetown Jam. You can pretty much bet on some incredible talent wondering in the door for a pot luck of good live music. And no cover on Wednesdays!

One of my favorite hangouts in the Georgetown neighborhood. Good music on the weekends, cool bartenders and I love the gumbo. The Mac-n-cheese is pretty awesome too!!!

Well… Every family has their own Cajun recipes, and this family may just be Italian. The Jambalaya was overly tomato based. Not good. We couldn’t even finish the meal. Not much meat either. The Po boy was good. The cornbread was generic, but good, and pecan pie was good(definitely a store bought crust). Basically, if you’re just looking for a «good» meal then this is your place. This place is better for the atmosphere, and music. Wouldn’t recommend you come here just for the food.

We stopped in for a bloody and a beer this afternoon. Both bartenders(perhaps owner?) were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The bloodies were made from scratch and they were delicious. Just spicy enough but not over the top. We’re vegetarian so no food for us. However, it looked like everything was being made from scratch while we were there. I will definitely be recommending this spot to my cajun carnivorous friends! Did I mention that they have Ms. Pacman?!!

Good music. Bartenders did their jobs with some good shots. Most surprising: Amazing door man. I don’t think I have ever rated a bar highly with that being a primary reason. The block is the best for drinking anywhere in Seattle if you are serious about it. This place will now always be a go to while in the neighborhood.

This place was an awesome surprise. We noticed it while looking for some lunch. Apparently, they just started serving Cajun food. My friend and I split the macncheese, shrimp po’boy, and a slice of pecan pie. The macncheese was so, so good. Velveeta, honest to goodness velveeta. And sausage. My mouth is watering just remembering this bowl, of golden goodness. The po’boy was good, though not fried. But that’s fine because it left room for the pecan pie, the glorious pecan pie. I don’t even really have words. We quite literally took a moment to just savor how delicious that pie tasted. The staff was great. Our server was also the owner methinks, and he was just the nicest. I hope the Cajun venture really takes off.

Super cute place and loved the vibe. People were friendly and PacMan and foosball upstairs were a big plus.

Pretty divey bar with a real sketch bathroom. However, $ 4 during happy hour was good and the local woodinville IPA was tasty. Loved the friendly basset hound, so cute.

One afternoon I come by for a lil snackin’. It’s pretty mellow. I think this is one of those places where they won’t address you right away if you don’t sit at the bar. I sat at a center table with not-so-comfortable chairs and waited for someone to come by while I watched the screen playing and looking at the table menu thing. 1 second… 2 seconds… 3 seconds… 20 seconds… 21 seconds… 22 seconds… Finally, the bartender calls out to me if I wanted anything. I’m not gonna talk across the ambient noise and the distance, so I hop up at the bar. A beer and the hawaiian pizza, please. The pizza is pre-made; by who, I don’t know. Eat it at the tables for more space. It was pretty good; not bad.

Hands down this is now my favorite place in Seattle to play shows. Between the booking agent/doorman, the bartenders, the sound-guy, and the Star Wars Trivial Pursuit, this place is a fun destination to sit and listen to a show in, and a great place to jam out.

We came here for a show for St. Patty’s and it was fun, but this isn’t the best venue. It’s pretty dingy, though the drinks are cheap and they even have a foosball table upstairs and some arcade games. Not a bad place to hang out, but it just isn’t my type of scene.

An Elite event, a random evening, and headed to see friends play a show makes a roundabout over years experience here at Mix. This place just doesn’t do it for me. Georgetown is already a little difficult to love, in general, for me as it is, and Mix just takes the least appealing things and cranks it up. The layout guarantees you’ll have limited seating, limited stage viewing, limited group size, limited mingling options… you get the picture. Then, add that they’ve taken«purposely dive» to a whole new level and decided«purposefully decrepit» is a decorating style. The chairs and tables are cheap and many are wobbly, the«vintage» booths are cool *in theory*, but are beyond needing maintenance to even achieve kitsch I’m reviewing the insulting price I paid for a well. Which, given how weak it is, I think they don’t actually serve liquor… despite Unilocal now calling them a «full bar», the shelves of various things I saw, and the fact the bartender didn’t say a bloody thing about not having it when I ordered, watched him pour it and then paid for it. Either he is the worst bartender or a fantastic charlatan… because it was either the most expensive Coke in Seattle or the weakest drink I’ve ever had. Their menu price for a Coke is less than the tip I left. I admit, I don’t know the hidden equation that goes into what the ticket or door price will be for a band and venue combination. and though the bands tonight, being ones I enjoy and of good friends of mine, were worth the price, for the venue-I’d feel completely ripped off any other occasion. It also appears they *might* be part of a group of Seattle music related businesses and blogs that do an end-run around Unilocal by doing screen shots of Unilocal reviews to their website instead of direct links. I saw this process explained by a local music blog on their FB a bit ago, and since it’s born from the(never proven, another lawsuit dismissed) idea Unilocal breaks the knee caps of businesses who don’t pay to advertise, I find it distasteful. Their rating here on Unilocal is even misleading, because a good number of them are for the previous business as an art gallery! I loved the Elite event here all those years ago… but I can’t see myself willfully returning to Mix for anyone but Will, Elvis or Hilary The sound guy, Dave, must be a magical, mythical creature though… because in the most oddly laid out place, he can make it sound fantastic.

Went to see Linda Perry from 4 Non Blondes and really went to see Deaths 3 Daughters. This place is just like Seattle used to be! No frills, friendly people, enjoying the music, no posers. Would return, love the Georgetown area. Pizza across the street is different, but just okay.

HA this place is a hidden little gem in the Georgetown strip. I drove by this place everyday for months and never even noticed it. So keep your eyes peeled. It is a music venue/beer bar, no booze. There is all kinds of little nooks and crannies filled with amusements. They have an upstairs lounge that seems like a great place to kick it with a group of friends for the night or during a show. They also have YATZEEEEEEE! What more could you want!

I came here once several months ago to see/hear a good friend sing. I remember the setting being very dark and intimate. It kind of almost felt like somebody’s living room, but I kind of like that. There was cool art on the walls and strong drinks to be consumed. I hope to come back here again one day.
