The Sixgill offers a great variety of spirits from local to international venues to satisfy any craving. The proportions are large and could easily be shared. We tried the Ruben and the Sixgill Burger. We loved both and the German potato salad was a great side to any plate. Our friends ordered the same dishes and got the cole slaw, and also raved that it had improved from the last time they stopped in. The next time we will share a plate and save room for desert!

The Sixgill gets 5 stars for their Reuben alone. The rest of the place is great, good beer, chill atmosphere. But holy cow, the Reuben with house-smoked Pastrami is top 2 out of hundreds I’ve eaten.

The service was great. The cocktails were inventive and yummy. The food was heavy on the chilis, so if you don’t like that, ask them, because they may be able to take it off– it was otherwise good, though the menu could use a little more focus. What I wish I had known is that this is a sports bar, despite the non-sports bar menu(seriously, if you are a sports bar, choose a menu that makes sense for that crowd). Giant TVs on every wall, all showing a game, or the same game(even more silly– it’s not so big a place that you can’t see more than one TV from any seat). If I had known it was a sports bar, I would not have even gone there.

The bartender in the Greenbay jersey got ugly with a customer for no reason. He was passionately discussing local sport during the playoffs when she threatened kick him out. Not cut him off, just kick him out. No one was being rude or belligerent, except for the power hungry staff. Don’t plan on any fun when you stop in here, keep your eyes down and your mouth shut. Yikes!

We had high hopes for this restaurant because it looks super cute and has a menu that sounds delicious. When we walked in, we meandered around for a minute past several staffers who ignored us and finally found a table in the corner. Two of us arrived first and when the server came over with water, I said«we’ll be four.» She responded with, «I’ll bring the other glasses when your party arrives.» Um, ok. She also was irritated at every question we asked about the menu(asking if they serve a veggie burger earned the response«we only serve what’s on the menu» and when I asked for iced tea she said«I don’t know if we have that» and then never found out for me) and she took literally forever to take our order. Unfortunately, the food was pretty good because I can’t handle terrible service. I won’t be back.

Excellent draft beer selection with tons of rotators. Food menu changes pretty frequently and always uses fresh and delicious ingredients. The staff is awesome and friendly. Highly recommend this little bar!

This lovely bar is hiding in plain site in Fremont. You’ll likely miss it and wander into the Barrel Thief due to the Sixgill’s low key signage. Good service, good beer selection, but they don’t understand how to create sharable plates. We had a group of five and ordered appetizers to share. The hummus comes with too large pitas that have to be torn or cut and there is more hummus than there is pita, the lamb meatballs tasted great but was served as an open pita sandwich. The fig and cheese also tasty, but out of balance with too few crackers. I would come here again with a friend, but maybe not with too large a group.

I come here a lot and you can always get a seat and everything on the food menu is solid. Fantastic beer list, even though they start around $ 7/$ 8 a glass. BUT, the music is horrendous! They kept changing their music mix and it got worse. OK, you want to push the patrons out by playing terrible music, fine. Most people left. Do bar owners/managers not understand that Seattle is a music mecca with unbelievable musically history? Tears for Fears to Billy Joel«piano man» to the obnoxious«Cheers» theme song. At that point, time for the bill and move to the next place. Why do all the great beer bars in this town have the worse taste in music? It’s usually the bad late 70’s Classic Rock(there is plenty of great classic rock and Journey is not one of them) or bad early 80’s(no one wants to hear Culture Club when drinking a $ 10 Belgium). Nothing wrong with Joy Division or early New Order, but«pop» 80’s or soundtrack music have to go. But, still love your beer list.

The beer list was really nice. Excellent selection of ciders as well. The food is pretty bad. Super smokey, like they are using way too much liquid smoke on a fig appetizer(Weird I know). The wings are not crispy at all. They are like boiled wings in franks. Go for drinks! Get food elsewhere. Good service though.

Some of the most knowledgable staff around and a fabulous selection of beer and cider. The ambience is pretty good too.

Cool little spot in the center of the universe. Newer pub with an interesting menu. I loved the beer selection and loved the raspberry hefe, very unexpected! Loved loved loved the lamb meatballs! And the atmosphere was very hip, not unexpected from Fremont… Was a little perplexed by the weird seating, you had to step up on a box-like area, and then sit down on the bench up there. Not a deal breaker per se, but odd… The waiter was good, but was a little hit or miss in coming by the table. They did bring me some additional veggies to go with my hummus, didn’t feel like they *had to* do that, but they gladly did. Good overall impression of the place, but menu and seating were odd.

Great ideas, but Sixgill didn’t earn its average of four stars tonight in execution, IMHO. Came for a quick bite during happy hour before a meeting we had, so we were there about an hour. — Drinks:4 stars I had the«Sea of Cortez», which I really liked(like an old fashioned, but with tequila!). Our waiter was super helpful in choosing a beer, and the dark lager he suggested for my hubby was good. — Food: 2 stars We ordered two apps: the chicken wings were ok but all were somewhat burned — more than an appetizing char! Some were too tough to bite through the charred skin. The smallish chickpea dip(~ hummus) came with just a few veggies to scoop with, not like the amazing pic we had seen in another Unilocal post — so we had tons of dip left over with nothing to eat it with! Sigh. Used a spoon out of hunger. — Service: 2 stars Food came super slow but it was happy hour… Didn’t seem super crowded though? Maybe they want you to order additional drinks while you’re waiting??? Because it took almost 40 minutes to get both apps, even though we were still hungry, they couldn’t make anything quick enough for us to still be out of there in an hour for our meeting. Overall, it was fun to try it out here but we won’t be back, based on the inconsistency and prices.

Was in the neighborhood and had some time before an event and we decided to stop here to grab a drink and share a appetizer. Luckily, it was still Happy Hour so we grabbed a seat at the bar and started ordering. I let the bartender choose a beer for me based on what I preferred and I think he chose for me something called«Breakside» or «Bonfire»…cant recall exactly, but whatever it was, it was tasty! We also ordered some grilled octopus to share, very good! Delicious tomatoes, briney olives, nice small slices of chili peppers, good dressing and well cooked octopus with a nicely charred tentacle. Yum! It’s a little on the small side when sharing. Overall, we enjoyed this place, nice décor, comfy atmosphere, good amount of bar seats, tables and a small patio out back. Staff was friendly & helpful, knowledgable about their beers and HH pricing wasnt bad. Menu looks good from burgers, tacos, salads, steaks, some English dishes and traditional bar food. Definitely will have to come back to try those out!

The Noble Fir is one of my favorite bars in Seattle… The Sixgill is good, but it doesn’t have quite the same character & charm. The beer selection was awesome(!) — anyone who carries Hop-a-Wheelie IPA wins points in my book. The food was good, but not amazing for the price. We went on a hot day so the cantaloupe and prosciutto salad hit the spot. The salmon burger was delicious, and came with(a garnish of?) a couple leaves of romaine lettuce topped with an amazing poppy seed dressing. It was good. But for the price, I would have expected a whole side dish. I would’ve given it four stars, but minus one because our server had a little bit of attitude about us not ordering a second beer. Taking up space wasn’t a problem since it was a quiet afternoon. I’d give it a second chance, if I lived in Fremont.

Great location and great beer selection. Salmon pot pie is good comfort food in summer or winter. The cheese/meat board like good on the menu but pretty average. Service and friendly atmosphere makes this place a place that’s worth a visit

Came here and got the sixgills burger and chicken wings. The staff tells us that there’s no fried food in this restaurant, which was interesting. I should have paid more attention to the menu and Unilocal photos, as the potato skin does look pretty good(an alternative to fries) Both the burger and wings came in large portion and it was messy to eat, very delicious!

I am upset at myself that I haven’t been here sooner! Living so close, I have contemplated coming by but though ‘Eh, maybe some other time’. I finally gave it a try over the weekend and so glad that I did! They have an amazing selection of beers on tap and had some fabulous wine as well. The food was perfect! We started with the meat/cheese board and it was divine. I added a little gem salad and it was delicious. My boyfriend had the burger and it was one of the best burgers we’ve had. I love the small outside patio and the service was sooo friendly and helpful. We will for sure be back!

We were pretty much impressed with The Sixgill. Our friend is a usual at this bar & could never stop talking about the place so when it was time to visit him, it was a no-brainer where to meet him. We both ordered The Sixgill Burger($ 14) while he & his partner ordered the warm spinach & artichoke dip($ 9) & roasted beet salad($ 10). Holy mother of all things good. The burger was so effing scrumptious. The thick slab of Double R Ranch NW beef between two buns was juicy & bursting with flavor. I hardly noticed the Tillamook cheddar & shark sauce(fancy thousand island) because the beef was overwhelming. The small side of pickled vegetables, normally a side salad, complimented well with the burger. Get this entrée at least once. The beer is just as good as the food. Out of the 36 rotating daily taps I opted for the Jive Espresso Stout on nitro from Two Beers Brewing Co. while the others chose IPA& cider. The stout was perfect to help wash my burger down. If you prefer wine or cocktails over beer & cider there’s that, too. There’s happy hour 4 – 6:30pm daily which is $ 2 off any items under the«Something to Start or Share» menu. The staff are very nice & they leave you alone long enough to not feel neglected. They’re especially good at swooping in when your drink runs low. All in all, we can see why this is a regular spot for our friend. Great food, tasty beer, friendly staff, & nice ambiance.

Descriptive phrase: yuppie pub. We stopped into The Sixgill for a drink and light dinner one Friday night. The space is kind of neat, feeling like a hip fisherman’s shack. It was packed and loud, which definitely made the space less enticing and the service was negatively affected as well. I ordered their Smoking Diablo drink($ 10), as their long list of beers focused primarily on niche styles(sours, mega-IPAs, etc) and was very pricey anyway. My drink was made with Xicaru mezcal, lime, cassis liqueur, and ginger beer. It was extremely sour, and I did not finish it. For my meal I had the House Made Sausage($ 13). Featuring 2 dry sausage links on a bed of bean stew, leeks, and toasted bread crumbs, this dish was bland and lifeless and disappointing. My wife did not enjoy her Chicken Kale Salad($ 12) much more. Uninviting atmosphere with the crowds, sorry service, and poor food execution won’t be bringing me back to The Sixgill.

On a Friday night I was trying to think of a good spot for beer, food, and sports without the sports bar atmosphere. Remembered grabbing a beer here late one night and wanting to come back for a proper visit, so I decided this was my chance! I liked my visit the first time but I became a huge fan after visit 2. It’s very clean inside(did I just out myself as a germophobe?) with nice wood furniture and lots of natural light. There’s a bin of maps for entertainment for you cartogrophiles out there. The TVs are well placed so that they are easy to view but don’t dominate the atmosphere. Signs indicated they also show Seahawks games with sound on game days. All this and I haven’t even gotten to the best part — the beer! Very extensive beer list with unique selections you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere(see the photo). The knowledgeable staff will also give you honest feedback about the available libations. And if that’s not enough, the food is incredible. We ordered four dishes and liked everything… I was particularly partial to the charred zucchini with hazelnut pâté. So so good. For those of you familiar with Noble Fir in Ballard I believe these are the same owners, so you’ll find a very similar setup but much better food options here. I highly recommend!
