Breakfast sandwich was mediocre and slightly overpriced, but this place looks good and has good reviews, so I would’ve been happy to give it another try if only the guy behind the counter hadn’t seem so put off by the idea of assisting me.

This is the kind of place that I am very happy to live near. Super friendly, good sandwiches, good pastries, good coffee, wifi, and outdoor seating right across the street from the lake. A great place to grab sandwiches for a green lake picnic.

This was a good old café not mind blowing but I love good service and the cashier/barista was just hilarious and sweet. The café has nice out door seating and the food is cheaper then most cafes. Also it is right next to green lake which makes it a great stop before a beautiful walk.

Wonderful chef salad. Small is just the right amount. Tasty Italian dressing. Bread pudding is fantastic. Very rich with lots of berries.

Best bang for your buck in the Greenlake area. I often enjoy the generous half sandwich and soup on busy work weeks. The tall man with dark hair that works there provides a much needed dose of sarcasm to your order, which always brightens my day and has me chuckling to myself the whole walk back to my office. A must try is the espresso rum bread pudding!

I’ve only hit up The Urban Bakery for breakfast and espresso products. The croissants are delicious, breakfast sandwiches are large, and the coffee is pretty good, too. For those that complain about the prices; listen, that’s what it takes to sustain a small business. Also, this location is seriously prime real estate in the up and coming Greenlake hood, so leasing this spot probably takes up a large portion of their budget. I’m okay with spending an extra dollar or two to help the business out to be quite honest. Staff are always pretty friendly, items are prepared quickly and there is always a table open even on weekends. Décor is drab and not very welcoming but that is the last thing I care about when I just need some breakfast, yo. Or a hangover cure, whatever.

My girlfriend and I had been for a walk at Green Lake with her little Pomeranian dog. We stopped here for a cup of coffee. No sooner had we sat down that the waitress very rudely complained about the dog which was outside barking occasionally at passerbys(Pomeranians don’t have loud barks) and asked us to stay outside with the dog. We moved but that wasn’t good enough. She apparently didn’t want any dogs anywhere near the place and asked us to just leave. I’ve never seen anyone(my friend and her dog) treated so rudely in my life. And, our coffees were both too strong and very bitter! I would never go here again. Note here that at least one out of every three people are at Green Lake walking their dogs. All the other restaurants understand that if they don’t respect that people have their dogs, they won’t stay open for long. The owner needs to do something about this waitress or he(she) will be closing due to lack of customers.

No idea why this place has good reviews. The breakfast sandwich isn’t any good — the«baguette» is a roll, the bacon isn’t freshly prepared, the eggs were slightly gray. The vanilla latte was too sweet, the chai bland — and it cost us $ 20. There are too many good places to eat around Green Lake and Ballard — do not waste your time, money or appetite here.

Hit up this joint for the first time ever today. I had the spinach feta quiche, and a cuppa ginger peach black tea. The spinach feta quiche was good — but just good. Reheated in the microwave(not my favorite method… makes the crust squishy…). The ginger peach tea was quite tasty – pretty standard. Service was a-ok, too. The guy at the counter was fun to talk to. He had a great sense of humor. Overall, I wasn’t hugely impressed – but it was good. This will be my go-to place when Bauhaus is too loud/crazy. I’ll continue to update my review as I try more items and go at different times and stuff.

Stopped in with the lady for a breakfast sandwich and a cup of joe. I guess since the words«Bakery» is in the name I expected awesome bread. I had the sourdough and she had a baguette. Both were underwhelming. They seemed like store bought loaves. The egg sandwiches were rather huge. We both had Café Americanos, which were fine. I would go back simply for the service. The man in the hat was polite and charming.

Absolutely delicious! This place is simple, It’s fast, it’s friendly, and it’s delicious. I get breakfast sandwiches here often, usually switching it up between turkey, bacon, wheat and white bread etc. I’ve never been disappointed!

The Urban Bakery is a quiet pastry shop and café located on the north shore the peaceful Green Lake. I spent $ 7.44(on 9÷11÷2014) on a hot mocha and a cranberry scone, and I will say that I enjoyed it. While I do feel that their mocha is slightly below Starbucks quality, their scones are soft, flaky, and buttery, and meshed well with the coffee. Seating is plentiful but unfortunately doesn’t match the warm, cushy environments that establishments like Starbucks and Panera Bread often create for their customers. Overall, The Urban Bakery is a great place for those looking for a peaceful place to sit, drink coffee, have a scone, and read the newspaper.

I must admit that I am not a big fan of their scones, but the sandwiches are consistently excellent and it is a great place to stop for a warm drink or a quick bite when visiting Green Lake.

Pastries are mediocre, espresso was passable. Staff is bizarre at best. If it were out in Carnation, WA, it might be a good choice, but for the heart of Seattle it leaves a little to be desired. I had been several years ago and thought I would give it another try, but I don’t think I’ll be back again.

best. scones. ever. they’re like tender, buttery biscuits with filling/topping. They’re amazing. I have never eaten a scone that good before. enough gushing… Generous breakfast sandwiches. At first blush, it seems like all they offer are meat-based breakfast sandwiches, but my boyfriend(the vegetarian) asked if they could make a non-meat one. They made an egg/cheese/avocado/tomato one, which was nice of them. Also, I would say that their espressos are much better than their drip coffee. So if you’re hankering for a coffee, get an Americano instead. But, the scones…

Would recommend to this place work on the menu and the environment. Great location but the place is way too simple and the menu seems not impressive.

Nice bakery serving nice breakfast sandwiches… Nothing crazy. Just a standard baked goods shop with plenty of indoor seating along with patio seating. Bring a laptop for free wifi, park around in nearby streets and enjoy a walk in Greenlake! Prices are fair around $ 12 for sandwich and tea.

We have had this place as our standard breakfast place each time we walk around Green lake in the early mornings(7−8Am). It is convenient, and the café have some easy hot sandwiches they make and some oatmeal-cookies etc. Coffe and food is ok. Do not missunderstand our rating, this is not up against the same food as «Toast» in LA or similar, this is a low priced easy café and rated accordingly to its price range.

Looking for a café to study and Forza is way too crowded… Go to urban bakery just down the road. You won’t regret it! Urban Bakery has a great selection of freshly baked scones, turnovers, muffins, and even bagels. They also make their own quiche, which looked amazing and very filling. The coffee is good and goes great with a scone. They have free wifi for studying/working and you cant beat the location right across from Green Lake.

Why are these people so nice? Why are the salads(chef w/turkey) so fresh? Why are the portions so generous? Why do I not live at this bakery? Urban Bakery knows how to do business right. I love this place!
