I shop here for the books. I would readily offer this bookstore 5 stars if the customer service was more consistently helpful and a lot less condescending at times. When you are lucky enough to find a courteous, well mannered, helpful and knowledgeable employee, you can strike gold at U Bookstore. Still, I remain a loyal customer and glad to keep supporting one of the very few less mega-corporate booksellers left in the region.

I love, love, love the University Bookstore in the U-district — not only is it a full-size bookstore, it also has tons of great gift items, a café, a beauty department, and a large art supply shop downstairs. Sadly, this small downtown location is pretty much exclusively Husky merchandise, so much so that I wouldn’t even call it a bookstore. Maybe a «purple T-shirt store.» The store has a couple of different rooms, but it’s basically all crammed with Husky shirts, Husky keychains, Husky stickers, Husky baseball caps, etc. etc. The«office supplies» section did make me laugh — it’s literally one sad bookshelf with a few planners and legal pads stuffed onto it. The only textbooks(or books of any kind) in sight are a small, random display of marketing books in the center of the store. Maybe it’s for the UW Extension kids next door? The smaller room off to the side has a limited selection of non-Husky Seattle souvenirs — mugs, magnets, shot glasses, and the like. I would go to one of the souvenir shops closer to the market, or even Bartell Drugs(which has a surprising amount of cheap postcards and souvenirs), before shopping here, though. Unless you’re in a big hurry and need to do all your Husky/Seattle gift shopping in one place, I wouldn’t spend much time on these. A pretty good selection of UW merchandise, and convenient for downtowners who can’t get out to the main U-district store, but it doesn’t even begin to qualify as an actual bookstore. I wish they stocked a curated selection of stuff from the main store(local interest books, travel guides, a few locally made gift items) for a more balanced selection — then I might actually shop here regularly.

Has the essentials that the big uw bookstore on campus has. Was able to find a size that had ran out from the bigger branch and the customer service was extremely helpful!!! Thank you!

You can get your Purple & Gold Huskies fix here. they have most everything you’d want. The bookstore in Bellevue was recently remodeled and looks great, with a fireplace, tables and chairs to sit and browse. Lots of parking underground. Staff: Extremely nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Very helpful. Selection: Smaller than a Barnes & Noble, but hey– they are a small, locally owned business, which I love to support! Great selection of books, and they will happily order anything they don’t have. Gifts: Wonderful selection of jewelry, small gifts and tchochkes. Store will even gift wrap anything you purchase for free– beautiful choice of wraps and bows available

I like this store of everything UW. I just wish I have more time to explore. I will come back.
