University of Phoenix

Currently Attending Phoenix University Online. I only reccomend this school, to people who barely passed Highschool, and need someone to hold their hand through getting their degree. This school is perfect for students who don’t know how to think for themselves. If you want a cookie cutter education, where you are told how to think, what to say, where to go, etc then this place is for you! If you want professors who are lazy and impersonal, you found the right school. If you want to waste your time and money paying for classes that are irrelevant to you and your degree, enroll now!

Well, the saying goes something like this… Education, you get what you put into it. Well something like that. Any-​who…
I spent the better part of 4 years, no breaks except a small break between Christmas and New Years when the school shuts down, all online. Interesting? Yes. Worth the money? Hard to say…
This is a «private» college if you really want to know, and FOR profit. They offer both online and in person classes. I took the online version and it was great for me because I take such horrific notes, hence my not graduating from the University of Washington. Plus the length of classes just got me down, too long to keep me interested in the subject of study. It took me almost 15 years to go back to college but it has been most self satisfying.
The UofP offers an intense 5 week class length for «adult» students. I say this because this is not an option for those just leaving high school. The UofP thrives on «real» working folk to provide «real» world experiences and input. You learn from instructors who actually work in the field of study! Not just some instructor who has been published about a 1000 times and lectures on whatever he/​she has recently published.
I think I survived the UofP because the classes went by fast, and believe it or not I have retained a great deal of that knowledge, and for the most part I can still recall many of my instructors, style of teaching, and/​or their field of expertise.
Another interesting factor of the «online» version was the requirement of all students, that they HAVE to be able to communicate in writing! Regardless of prior schooling you had to take a writing class. And daily input/​feedback/​answers to questions is required.
Electronic teaching was good for me because I’m a visual learner, and with the lectures and books online and all printable, all you had to do was print them out and read them whenever, i.e. your commute to work/​home, late night before bed, on the toilet… uh, you get my meaning… Once you grasped the reading material all you had to do was sit down and write, and write, and write…
The online version is not for everyone, procrastinators need not apply, slow typists either, 5 weeks worth of reading and writing can not be done in one night.
5 stars really for the experience and not having to face a bunch of hip/​younger students face to face or deal with getting the «look» just right so you can look good in class. Minus 1 star for the price.
If you are ready to roll your sleeves up and get back to skool, ;-), then this IS the place.
