I love Uptown Espresso. My local one is West Seattle, but the lower Queen Anne one is fantastic as well. They make the best iced almond milk mocha(dark chocolate) coffee in the world. ;) The baristas are super nice and brighten my day every time I see them. FYI — their new coffee cards have been upgraded! You now get 4FREE when you buy 10 drinks. Wooohooo!

I just moved to the area and this has become my go to coffee stop. Coffee rules and the employees are always really nice, plus they had Soundgarden songs on their playlist so obviously it’s a great place.

The foam was certainly on point! My husband got a chai so good and the latte was great. The parking looked like it could suck during the busy times but we came when it was slow. What gave it the 3 stars was all the weird fly looking bugs on the table and window. Kinda gross. The service was meh everywhere else in west Seattle people have been so rad and nice here it was mediocre

My local coffee joint! Fast service, good drinks, great pricing, and a huge plus, they make their own whipped cream. Tastes a lot better than the canned stuff I used to spray in my mouth on a sweets binge! See you guys every Weds-Thurs!

Mediocre. Atmosphere is a little weird, but my friends like to study there all the time. Coffee is alright!

Love this coffee shop. The almond milk lattes are delicious. I personally double up on the espresso, which is the only way to go in my book. It’s pretty rustic inside but I prefer things that way. I have manual everything in my car, can’t figure out how to use my iPhone half the time, and would rather turn a knob on a toilet than dance with one for 5 minutes trying to get it to flush, any day of the week. I think the staff here are friendly for the most part and fun to talk to. If I were forced to complain about something it would be the parking, which can get a bit messy depending on the time of day.

How awesome to see this Seattle original still alive and kicking! Arguably the best coffee in West Seattle, they have perfected a «Velvet Foam» style, a divergence from traditional Italian(Umbria is the best example in town. Starbucks is the ugly mutated stepchild of this style) and modern artistic or «Latté Art» styles(Vita, Vivacé, are good examples). Velvet Foam eschews the strict Italian guidelines and arguably entertaining Art style in favor of a sort-of Oprah-esque«cappuccinos for EVERYONE! And YOU get a cappuccino! And YOU get a cappuccino!..» style taken to a luxurious extreme; as the name implies, milk-based drinks here are topped with a thick layer of smooth velvety foam. Paired with the brilliant, rich custom coffee Fonte does for them, full of dark chocolate flavors with hints of nuts and anise, and you have a winning combination. But all that’s nothing if you don’t have service, and these cats got that going on too. I’ve been an occasional customer at their various locations for the better part of two decades, and with only rare exception they’ve been cheerful, welcoming, and prompt even when busy. Jessica at the West Seattle store is a customer service gem and an excellent barista, keeping a clean store and answering customer questions with cheerful energy. The brie and ham croissant makes an excellent breakfast or lunch, and I’ve never been able to get over the Caffé Gennera(a mocha with orange zest); it’s my favorite drink here, great for waking up the senses. Order it with dark chocolate if available! If Seattle was to be known for its own original espresso style, this is probably what it should have been. Come and get yourself some, before Starbucks takes them over too, in their unending quest for absolute mediocrity. Highly recommended!

Foam, foam, foam, it’s all about foam. Uptown Espresso is well known for its foam, and it lives up to the reputation. Like the big parking lot. It’s always hard to find a parking space on California Ave, and this parking lot sure saves people some time. The indoor decoration is very old style with hardwood tables and lovely color glass windows. There were lots of foam on the coffee, and it was quite good. The foam is creamy, dense and subtle, which totally lives up to my expectations. The coffee itself is in great flavor as well, with the distinctive bitter sweet aroma. More to the bitter side but not too strong. There is a little bit sour after taste but got balanced out by the cream, so it’s really nice. For those of you prefer sweeter taste, there is a help-yourself dark chocolate bit jar at the napkin and sugar counter. My kid loves them on his coco. All in all, a pretty good coffee place.

I’ve only been here once because I don’t see a point to go again when there’s better coffee down the street. However, I’ve only ever gotten the cold brew, since it’s usually what I drink, so I can’t speak for their other drinks including this ~velvet foam~, or food as to how good they are but the cold brew was no different than a regular ice coffee, if anything. It was super watered down and really plain. It wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever had, but it wasn’t good by any means. The customer service was terrible too, but something I can look past if the coffee is good. Unfortunately neither was for me.

Subpar at best. The drinks are pretty dang good if you like drinks with foam, but if you are like me and get straight black drip coffee or tea then it really isn’t worth the money(almost $ 3 for a cup of tea that wasn’t even to go). The pastries aren’t great, but they’ll do when you’re in a pinch and need a snack. I go here to study because it’s quiet, but I may stop because they’re WIFI connection is HORRIBLE. This goes without mentioning the overall lack of outlets, so come with a fully charged computer if you decide to get work done here. I don’t think I would go here if it wasn’t within walking distance. I may just start driving to the library considering it has better WIFI and the atmosphere is just about the same. There are definitely better coffee places to go to in West Seattle.

I had to see what the velvet foam was all about, and I wasn’t disappointed. After driving past this place numerous times, I had to see what the velvet foam was. We stopped in on a Saturday, parking is a bit of a nightmare and only for 15 minutes? What is that all about? My husband ordered a cappuccino and I ordered an orange mocha. My mocha was delicious and my husbands cappuccino with the foam was very velvety! If the parking was better and the staff slightly friendlier it would be 5 stars in my book.

This has to be the worst espresso in town. My wife ordered two ice grande americanos. Mine had two pumps vanilla. Tasted like water, cream and a ton of syrup. Went back in and got two more shots. Didn’t taste any stronger. Plus it was 1.64 for two more shots. I think they are another place that uses cheap Italian roast coffee instead of espresso. I like to support local and there are few good local espresso places here in Seattle but I guess I’ll stick with perfection. Starbucks. Also if I got a sh – ty drink here, they’d remake it at NOEXTRACHARGE! Oh and one person working? So bad drinks and long lines. With all the impatient people in Seattle this just spells disaster.

Good place. I had the Americano coffee, and it was really very good. We also had a mocha drink which was also good. Big place, lots of room.

Stopped in again with the family after an early dinner up the street at Harry’s Chicken Joint. Nice to hang out for two hours — has much longer hours than the Wallingford site. Great mocha and laughed at the cup’s warning — not for external use! Definitely that signature velvet foam and espresso is not for slathering. LOL

Okay, everyone’s either all trained up now, or I’m going when the better baristas are working. And it is still about COFFEE, not WiFi, since it’s, you know, a COFFEESHOP. =)

I would absolutely give 5 stars, if it weren’t for the fact that they have the slowest, most unreliable WIFI anywhere, albeit free. It’s probably so bad because the router is inside a metal box — seriously, if what the baristas say is true, it’s under a steel countertop which is painted with metalic paint — copper colored metallic paint contains actual copper, and makes for a very effective ANTENNASHIELD. Please, seriously guys, I’ve been coming here to study(and spend $) for years, I’ve been telling you guys the whole time, PLEASEJUSTMOVETHEROUTER! Apparently nobody has passed the info on to the owner. Maybe this way they’ll see it?

Uptown Espresso is a place where legends are made. In fact, it’s here that I had my Very First Ever Café Latte way back when. I was hooked. So when I’m in the area I always make it a point to stop here and get another one. I don’t know what they do to their milk when they steam it, but it is so velvety and smooth. NOBODY does steamed milk like this. And their latte’s are still just as good as they’ve ever been. Don’t miss one of their yummy pastries, too!

This place is nice enough, with good coffee and pastries but the ambience is sort of sad. I can’t figure out why but this place has the feel of a middle school cafeteria. I think it has to do with the metal lunch line setup that they thought would come across as retro but makes me feel like I need a plastic compartment tray for my green beans and apple sauce. The rest of the place is only slightly better. It is just one big cafeteria-like room with a bunch of identical wooden tables and chairs. In short, the coffee is pretty good, but get it to go

You won’t get a 5 star from Frank for One reason and it’s because your cheap. Let me start off with positive affirmations about the biz. My tasty beverage was excellent and the barista was not only personal, she engaged in conversation and even provided a smile. The establishment is huge so your not stacked on top of each other and has both large and small tables for all your needs. All thumbs up so far. Now what piss’s me off is no open WI-FI is in the business. I was meeting a client and we needed to you use internet to follow up on some information. How ever when we tried to locate WI-FI it was u available. Total party fowl on your business. I hope you change this small blemish on your business. Change that and it’s 5 star review.

Now I see what they mean by velvet foam! Mmm milk chocolate cappuccino. Good sized coffee shop. Emerald green carpet. One guy manning the register and making coffee he was really efficient and friendly. I would come back for more velvet foam! I wish they had more of a pastry selection
