My brother and I stopped in recently on a Saturday night. It was not obvious which door was the one that might be unlocked. There were a few people in the industrial space. Dozens of oak barrels separated the brewing area from the taproom. The grissen style beer was tasty and well made. The pale ale was a bit cloudy, not a problem with me, and tasted a little thin in body for the style. But my brother said it was the worst beer he has had since he once homebrewed beer. He didn’t finish it. I wish the prices were the actual final prices of the brews. It wouldn’t be that hard to set that up. Some music would have been nice, live or canned. The guy at the bar was fiddling with his tablet, and showing little interest in the place. I wonder how much better the experience would be if, on a slow night, he would get around and briefly chat with the customers. Such simple PR would be healthy for the place. I feel the quality of the brews I’ve had here since last summer are good, but not yet truly great. I assume they are continuing to improve the process and product. As much as I want to support a place near to where I grew up, my nearby go-to place now is Rooftop Brewing on the east side of 15th W on Nickerson Street.

Love this place. Bought a 4 pack of Best Laid Plans IPA at a bottle shop. It blew me away, so I visited the brewery. The staff were helpful in picking out beer. My wife and I drank several and watch the game. I picked up another 4 pack of the IPA before heading home. Its a big space with long tables, board games, and a projector showing sports on the wall. I’ll definitely be back.

Great beer, tried 4 different beers and they were all unique and great. It’s in a bit of a weird location in magnolia but it’s quite and secluded which is sometimes nice

Solid farmhouse style beers. Great music — Ride the Lighting, Queens of the Stone Age — Perfect. Wanted more beer but then, for some reason, there was a 1 year old having their birthday at a brewery and it started screaming(probably because it was at a brewery and not Chuck E Cheese). Too bad this is becoming the norm at Seattle breweries, screaming kids. Let’s keep breweries for 21+ and doggies.

Yummy beer. Tried all 5 available today. 1) Best land plans IPA-full CITRA hops taste and great balance. reminds me of Stoup citra IPA 2) Urban tropic IPA– Bitter traditional lingering hops… 3) Baby cakes with peach-great summer beer. still full of flavor med bodied and slight peach flavor throughout. not too sweet. I LIKE! 4) Black noir farmhouse– tastes like a yummy coffee chocolate porter without the heaviness. reminds me a bit ofthe Elysian porter but lighter. really like this once. great balance of flavors and smooth finish. 5) Urban Pale-Least favorite but partner likes it. The brewery is in magnolia so it’s not the easiest to get to but that means it’s not too crowded. I am here mid afternoon on Friday however. no food. got samplers 4oz I think which is always the way to go at a new brewery and it was reasonably priced. Actually, it’s a great deal since all the beers were tasty. Really loved the mini Chablis glasses. it made the tasting oh so swanky in the industrial warehouse in the backstreets of Magnolia. ALSO, home of surly cyclists as well apparently. and I saw babies in car seats here with their parentals. DONTGETCRAYCRAY with the kiddy poos though. I may slip them some of the baby cakes brew. bad notes? bathroom is gross. unisex means urinal in there as well. puke. and very hoppy smell and not a lot of airflow going through. maybe that’s what they need for the perfect brews but outdoor setting would be a great add. one more restroom!

Consistent and delicious selection of beers on tap and in bottles. We usually settle in and order pizza and play a couple games of chess. Love the new location in magnolia. Hope it becomes a hot spot.

Came here for a little mid afternoon beer… the urban tropic hit the spot. As a beer snob, I’m snobby about beer. But both the magnolia and urban were delicious. I only had a taste of the magnolia but I could tell it would be amazing too. Felt good sipping on a golden 16oz brewskie listening to the beetles — golden slumbers. Keep it up.

Really nice brewery! It’s a big space and the tasting area is right by where the beer is brewed. It’s family-friendly and dog friendly. The beer was excellent. I had a pale ale which was one of my favorites and I also tried a darker beer with citrus flavors which was also very good. The beer was cloudy and kind of Belgian-y in flavor. I would definitely stop by here again!

Urban Family just opened(reopened?) their tap room again to the general public! I saw their sign on a sidewalk indicating that they were open so I zipped on over to get some of their beer! I tried two of their beers. I had a taster of a extremely smooth porter which was very good! For my pint I got the East is West beer which is a IPA. The beer had wonderfully fresh hops in their beer and a good solid taste! I look forward to going back and look forward to what they may be putting on tap in the future!

I’ve never had better than their saison/farmhouse ales — the perfect combination of Belgian yeast and Northwest hops. And their fresh-hopped IPA was juicy and delicious. I’m going back as often as I can.

This seems like a perfect fit for UFBC. Their warehouse location is totally off the beaten path, but it has plenty of parking, long communal tables to sit and enjoy your beer, and they still have a plethora of games! The beer is all their own brew, and is well crafted. The only draw-back for some people would be that they only have four beers on draft, so if you are very specific in your beer likes(or dislikes), that could be an issue. I had a delicious fresh hop beer, and loved it! I’ll be sure to be back.

Urban Family Brewing Co. is the reincarnated Urban Family Brewing brew-pub from Ballard. They’ve moved to a huge and awesome new brewing facility in Magnolia and have refocused their efforts on solely producing terrific beer. Urban Family Brewing are the ONLY brewery currently operating in Magnolia– which they seemed to be very proud of. UFBC are focused on French and Belgium style beers(my favorite) — and I enjoyed each of the four beers they had on tap when I visited on their opening day. In fact– my buddy and I were the first two customers when they opened, we had read about the opening in Seattle Beer News. My favorite beer of the four we tried was a fresh-hopped beer that was super tasty. They have ZERO food for sale– which really emphasized for us that they are focused on the beer(a nice change from their old brew-pub where it was a quasi-restaurant). This is truly a BREWERY. Pints are reasonable– in the $ 4-$ 5 range– and all of their beers are in the 6−8% alcohol range. They have a couple of their barrel aged Brett beers in bottles for sale that you can drink on-premise. The thing that really caught my attention was the large number of wine and liquor barrels they had lined up. In chatting with the brewer– he mentioned that they would have lots of barrel aged beers coming down the line. I will be back to try them for sure(Belgium style beers and bourbon or gin barrels = winning). This place feels a lot like the old Fremont Brewing Company — before they got huge and began cramming in as many people as they could. The vibe at UFBC is definitely rustic– which I think is really cool– it feels like a brewery– and less like a pub. They have LOADS of parking– which is a nice change from their old digs in Ballard. The location isn’t terribly easy to find– but it’s huge and cool and certainly worth looking for. It’s near the Fisherman’s Terminal on the North end of Magnolia. I will be back for sure.
