Washington Talking Book & Braille Library and Mobile Services

I absolutely love this place and cannot recommend a better place to volunteer. I do one of the weekly radio programmes for the Evergreen Radio Reading Service. All of the volunteers and employees here are friendly and you can park free in the garage while you are there.
Give them a call or e-​mail their volunteer coordinator, see what they have open and you won’t regret it!

Their Mobile Services van parked on 9^th street has got to be the cutest, safest library van around. It is decorated with cartoon characters, hasn’t been tagged with graffiti and is parked outside the police station when not in use.
I haven’t used their services, basically because I am not eligible. Per the website: Those eligible for this service are children and adults who are residents of Washington state and who are legally blind, deaf-​blind, visually impaired (cannot easily read conventional size print), physically disabled (cannot comfortably hold books or turn pages), or learning disabled due to organic dysfunction.
What’s great about this library is that the cost is free to eligible users. I wouldn’t even know about them if I didn’t walk by their striking sea-​green building several times a week.
Bummer is that I can’t return or get books held for me at this location.
