This place is pretty hit-or-miss. The food is usually tasty, typically pretty good quality. Even though you customize your sandwich on a brown bag, the staff seem to get orders wrong about 40% of the time. When it’s good, it’s pretty good; I just wish it was good more often.

Extremely overpriced for quality that is identical to Subway. You are basically paying for more sandwich options and creative freedom. Did not feel too well after eating the medium size sandwich at all.

This place is fun! Not your typical sandwich shop. Walk in, pick up a bag and a marker, and start building your order! I ordered a turkey sandwich with coleslaw and 1000 island dressing and it hit the spot. Lots of different options for ordering, so there’s a sandwich for everyone! Staff was very friendly and greeted me promptly.

This place is a great college staple. I love how customizable it is but I just wish it was a bit faster. Can’t win ‘em all

A little pricey; but very very delicious and worth it for the ingredients they offer. I randomly saw it and had to try it out because I love sandwiches! The way you chose your sandwhich is pretty neat. The paper bag they put your sandwich in is the bad you check the items you want in your sandwich. You can choose from different kinds of sandwiches or make your own from scratch. I tried the Ultimate BLT and it was so damn delicious! The 8 pieces of bacon, the fresh lettuce and tomato and the chipotle mayo works very well together. I can’t wait to try more of the Sandwiches. I tried a shake; which they use real Ice Scream to make. I tried a vanilla shake with bananas in it and it was sooo amazing loved the shake. It is almost as good as sonics real shakes(sonic uses actual ingredients; not syrup). But the shakes are still amazing! Will come back whenever in the area. Better than any sub shop around! Will say it is worth traveling for. :)

The ordering system is the best. The sandwiches and shakes are even better. There is no sandwich place better than Which Wich. This place is soooo good!

OMG! I am in love with this place! Hands down the best sub shop. This place puts Subway and Quizno’s to SHAME! THIS is how a sub sandwich is done! The ordering set up is so awesome! More places should adopt it. Great tasting, much much more menu items than anywhere else. You really don’t know what you are missing until you try it! Im hooked!

Pretty average sandwich. I like the system and the options but when I toasted it most of the stuff in the sandwich was still cold. Not sure if I would go back.

While Which Wich has a huge variety of delicious options, building your sandwich is very easy. Simply pick up a bag corresponding to your meat or veggie choice, check the options on the bag and hand it in. The staff is fairly quick; I’ve never had to wait for more than 3 – 4 minutes even when ordering multiple sandwiches.

Which wich is a great little sandwich shop with tons of different menu options on the Ave. It is one of my fave places to go when I am craving a sandwich while in the area. The ordering is straightforward, you grab one of the brown paper bags and a red sharpe, and mark what sandwich you would like, and how you would like it made: what meat, toppings, what kind of bread, whether or not you want it toasted, the size you prefer. My preference is chicken pesto with veggies and honey mustard. The pesto is ok, but a little more sour than I like. The portion is generous and they always stuff it with lots of meat and veggies. You can also grab some chips as a side if you like. I also tried their Oreo milkshake the last time I came, and it was delicious! Perfect blended iced cream with generous chunks of Oreo goodness. Will definitely be back soon to get another one of these. The service is quick and friendly. They always ask me if I need help or have any questions while I am writing out my order. After I finish ordering and pay, they are super quick to make my sandwich ready in a flash, just the way I asked for it. I really appreciate the variety of options they have in their menu, there are tons of meats, veggies and sauces which makes them unique compared to Subway or Jimmy John. It is a little more on the expensive side. The space is large and there are plenty I places to sit and eat. It is always pretty empty when I come in, so I figure many people take it to-go. Parking on the Ave can be a pain. You have to find street parking and feed the parking meter to pay for the parking, even if you are running in to grab a quick lunch. Overall good, convenient and fast sandwiches on the Ave. Lots of different options.

First impression of Which Wich is that it’s unique. Self ordering system is easy and give you as much time to order as you need. I like that! :) I ordered gyro sandwich and it was really tasty. Although I didn’t see pita on the menu I chose to try it with wheat bread. I added some blue cheese to give it a stronger flavor. Overall impression 4⁄5 :) I’ll be back!

Great spot for a sandwich in the U District. Mike is the owner and is a great guy– really connects with customers. Sandwiches are ALWAYS good and they have never messed up my order or missed an ingredient. Popular place that isn’t too packed, finding a seat is not a problem. One of my favorite spots in Seattle!

Because of their huge number of combinations you can always get a different wich every single time. The place is very clean and organized. Even if it’s your first time here you probably won’t feel very lost. The very first station that you put your eyes on is the menu area with all the brown paper bags. You simply choose what general category of sandwich you want out of the 10 categories and then grab that bag to customize your sandwich. It’s pretty impressive that they have almost every kind of sandwich you can think of along with a vegetarian category and a special category that continues to change with time! The possibilities are truly endless. One of the greatest things about Which Wich is the fact that you don’t have to tell them what you want like you would have to do at Subway. You simply mark up your bag using the red sharpies provided. No need to tell them that you wanted toasted or what kind of veggies you want. Everything is done with a simple check mark. They have a category for cheeses, mustards, sauces, dressing, veggies and more. I love how you can get caramelized onions on your sandwiches! Furthermore, you can get your bread on white, wheat or a lettuce wrap if you’re trying to cut down on bread. There is even a sandwich bowl. If you want to get your sandwich skinny you can as well. This is where they just remove some of the insides of the bread. You take your marked up bag to the cashier and pay. They offer sandwiches in S(7 in), M(10 in), and L(14 in). The prices are higher than what you would pay at Subway but the quality is definitely better. Water cups are offered and come in their 16 oz cups which is nice. They also have a punch card system and it seems like you get two punches per sandwich. They’ll call your name when your sandwich is ready. It’s all wrapped up for you in your brown paper bag and you can either take it to go or eat at one of their tables. The taste of the sandwiches themselves were better than that of Subway but they weren’t crazily outstanding. I found them to just be above average. The bread wasn’t anything too amazing and the veggies were all pretty fresh. I loved the caramelized onions and the amount of meat they give you in each sandwich. The Italian had some bold flavors and adding some spice to it really kicks it up a notch. The 10 inch definitely filled me up and my partner could barely eat his whole 14 inch. They don’t skimp out in the fillings of your sandwich so you get full a lot quicker which eat bite. Overall, taste wise I would have given this place 3 stars. But because of their unique brown paper bag marking and organized layout I am giving Which Wich an extra star. I enjoy how convenient everything is and the number of combinations you can make. Which wich will you get?

I’d heard many great things about Which Wich so my friend finally brought me here so I could have a life changing experience for myself, rather than just hearing about it. While my sandwich was pretty good, it definitely didn’t blow my mind. It took awhile for my sandwich to be a made, they are a bit pricey, and the flavor was just ok. There are other sandwich places in the area that I would definitely rather go to. I love the idea of customizing your sandwich the way they do at Subway, but they really missed the mark with the flavor. I’ve been here a few times since my first visit because friends wanted to go, but every time I’m still disappointed. I would much rather get a sandwich at Trinity Market or Subway than here. I’d definitely say to try them at least once since I know people that are obsessed with Which Wich. But I also know people that went once and said they would never go back. Overall, not a place I would go back to if I had the choice, but also not terrible.

Neat sandwich shop that is a little overwhelming if you have never been. When you first walk in, all you see is a stand full of brown paper sacks… I didn’t know each sack had different options until I watched the lady next to me grab one with a different stamp. Then I wasn’t sure of which size I should order and ended up with a huge sandwich… a huge sandwich that tasted great and had a ton of meat, veggies, and cheese. Definitely worth a try if you are up for a good sandwich.

Too far up the AVE for a sandwich. If you go to 47th/50th, you might as well just make a bigger sandwich from Safeway for cheaper. Quality wise, the sandwiches are okay and it’s semi-fast. Not bad.

You really can’t go wrong with Which Wich. I wish there was another location closer to the central district. I could see this franchise making a killing on Capitol Hill. When you walk in, you pick the protein you want on your sandwich, pick the corresponding paper bag and fill out the rest to customize your«‘wich». I’ve had turkey and Italian styles each time I go. I’m never disappointed. This U-Dist location is never too busy each time I’ve been. I’m sure they get a lunch rush, but I’ve never experienced it. The staff is always friendly too. Expand around Seattle please!

There’s a number of sandwich shops on the Ave, but this one is no ordinary restaurant. Realistically speaking, the comparisons to Subway and Jimmy John’s are inevitable. There are always going to be people arguing about which is better, but Which Wich? stands out as the best of them in my opinion. It’s actually slightly more expensive than its competition, so those other places are probably the better choice if you’re on a really tight budget, but this one is no run-of-the-mill sandwich shop that you should pass up. The most intriguing thing about a store like this is how you order the sandwich; you fill out your order by marking bubbles on a brown paper bag with a red Sharpie marker. It reminds me of filling in answers in multiple choice tests in school, but here, the correct answer is simply what you want it to be, and I like that. Then you hand the bag to them for them to look at; there’s no moving along a line with them and verbally telling them what ingredients you want. When they’re done making the sandwich, they notify you and have you pick it up by calling out your name that you’ve presumably written in the space at the bottom of the form. Since interaction with the workers is more limited here, I thought that would give me less material to work with in my review. I was surprised to find myself wrong. The wait for my sandwich took a while because of the orders ahead of me, and there seemed to be only one person making them. But these guys seemed happy to serve me. It’s not very often that you get such a thing at a fast food restaurant. What you also rarely see at fast food restaurants is the variety they have here. They have hummus and some stuff that I’ve never even heard of, like tzatziki and pepperoncinis. And the end result still tastes great when blended together. It’s a little more expensive than some of the other sandwich shops, but I think it’s worth it. I also ordered a small Oreo shake, and it came out very well considering how it was priced at only $ 2.75. The guy who made it was also very friendly and even asked me how my meal was going. I also get the feeling that Which Wich? is good as a hangout place. They have a TV on a wall, and the vibe is somehow quite comforting. It suggests fun more than most other restaurants. I normally am not too fond of the Ave north of 47th Street because of all the weird stuff that goes on there, but this store is worth the trip. You probably shouldn’t go in expecting much more than a sandwich shop, but it certainly is better than most other sandwich shops.
